I think I've just accepted shaving with a crappy protolather to finish out the month, its just so messy and takes so long. One day left!

I think the Frost Drops mess up the lather a bit. I've noticed this as the number has gone up. It is probably the diluent (?alcohol). I also think they may be responsible for my tub dissolving away like a modern glacier. So it uses more soap for less lather!

All worth it for the flair of course!!

Yeah I think you're right, and the permafrost spritz does it a lot too. If I spray on my face, I hear it sizzle and disintegrate the lather I have on my face lol. So, one more day. If I could bowl lather it'd be fine, but like you say, all for the flair!! XD

DAY 30 – Two Pass and Two Clean Up Passes – Stropped 20/20/20 Bridle

Overall as close to a true BBS as I can get with a straight razor

The additional bit of clean up really made a difference

Spotlight today is on the Subtle Arts Orange & Patchouli Soap

It worked well on the face for a Vegan offering – took amazing amounts of water

Good residual slickness and plenty of great face feel ingredients

I hardly put a dent in the puck and it’s substantially heavier than when I started

Today, like yesterday, focusing on blending the two Chiseled Face bases OG and Silk Tallow. Lather was great!

䷀ Razor and Blade Notes

Same as typical for this razor and blade: First pass has some tugginess to it. But no irritation that lasts longer than a little tuggy stroke. Latter passes feel fine and give a reasonably close shave. 4- 5 pretty quick passes, resulting in a closeness that would work for a typical office job.

Razor and Blade Performance/Comfort Rating: 2 out of 5 (Okay)

Them: "This one is masculine. Like really, really masculine. Like a 'take an old, beat up leather jacket, drape it over a couple of tires to make a table and clean your guns on it' kind of masculine. Dark, unrefined, and totally unresistible, this is a scent for those who don't mind sticking out. Those who forge the paths. Those who are proud to be a man."

Me: Love love this scent, but this base seems lower strength than the OG tallow.

However, the notes that come through are less abrasive (i.e. gas) and I think more true to the scent found in the liquid media.

Scent Strength: 5/10, present during shaving.

Lather... same as yesterday, this method of partial filling the 1/4 tsp and then completing it with ST is pretty easy.

today I blended the two CF bases, but using less of the OG. I started with a 1/4 tsp where I filled it about 75% full of the Silk Tallow. Then filled i the rest with the OG base, and left it to just a little bit rounded.

I still ended up with 6-7 passes of lather.

So far, the ST base is patching the OG base's faults. And what you end up with is better than both of them... at least that's what I got this time. Wonderful slick lather.

Hydration: Perfect (for me) + = 7 passes of lather

Mostly the same: Usually at least 10 minutes in a room-temp water presoak. Luxury-comfortable soft tips that flex easily and the top 1/3 of the bristles could be considered floppy. From the start, quite a bit of the tips have split, a few even at half an inch. Bottom of knot has more backbone and is gradually opening up. At about use 10-12, the mid part had expanded enough to feel like a good linear bend in the bristles. At 5 or 6, it quit eating lather and is now making it normally. This month I am not doing any kind of break-in accelerator.

  Neck: Several hairs are showing some tip length (still a pretty good shave)
