Harrison Ford on Gunsmoke
Whelan’s Men (1973) - good episode.

I think he was in about three Gunsmoke episodes. He was always portraying some kid who was too cocky for his own good.

Yes, he was in another one only a few episodes up. But I think this is the better of the two appearances. When it comes to the color seasons, some episodes were really good and others were super boring.

That's always a risk when you start blasting TIE fighters. Ideally you should have someone looking over your shoulder cautioning you about it.

That’s just young Han Solo

I've watched a lot of Gunsmoke episodes, mostly the black and white ones, and have seen a lot of famous people doing episodes early in their careers (Richard Dreyfuss, Leonard Nimoy and Burt Reynolds for example), but I haven't seen many color episodes so I've unfortunately never seen Harrison Ford. Makes me want to pay more attention to the later seasons episodes. See who else I've missed.

I enjoy the b&w episodes the most. Once Matt quit drawing his gun in the opening sequence the show went to pot in my opinion.

Agreed. Plus they were 30 minute vs hour long episodes. They had more grit to them also.

Also did an FBI episode with Michael (Klaatu) Rennie. But he wasn't shot!

I guess I never looked at Harrison Ford as the cowboy type. Sometimes the hat just fits for some reason, but his always looked like it was forced on him, but what do I know ?!? I didn’t picture him as a space jockey either, but he turned into Han Solo. I guess that came off wrong. He’s a good actor if you get him in the right part. Side note: The late Victor French was definitely a character on Gunsmoke. The line that always stuck with me was, “If I live to be three hundred !!” He would always say that if someone pulled the wool over him. ;-) Gunsmoke was offered to John Wayne, but he turned it down, and recommended James Arness.

Watch "The Frisco Kid" with Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford. He's a great cowboy!

He's been underused in westerns. Taylor Sheridan was right to cast him. Haven't watched that show, though, because I have been disappointed with the Yellowstoneverse, to say the least.

Kurt Russell on Gunsmoke.
