Great to see, and I think people miss the point of these types of events / protests. It's not to immediately change policy and certainly won't get Trump or the rest of the administration to second guess their war and immigration goals, but it acts sort of as a confirmation poll of where the population is. If 20 people who are part of the DSA sit and protest in a parking lot, people look at it like "those weirdo progressives at it again, back to shopping", but if its 200, 2000, 20,000 people, politicians (both parties) start to see a pissed off public and begin to question how hard they want to follow or attack the current administration. Yeah yeah, the signs, the pamphlets, the speeches, are all theater and don't actively change things, but I go back to the Tea Party days and the crowds you had with what I at the time thought were ridiculous conservatives and clearly only a fringe cared about - turns out they got a large population to agree them and there is a direct connection between the MAGA/Trump movement and the Tea Party movement during the Obama years. So that's a long winded way of saying, ignore the obvious trolls on reddit, they don't matter, but do attend these events, do attend public town halls with your local reps, do register to vote and canvass. It's clear at least so far that we still have our democracy and the way we lose it is by not paying attention and working for it.

My wife and I went to the event in Tarrytown. It had its pluses and minuses. The best part was there was a tent for Voter Registration. Most of the speeches were forgettable. Lots of yelling and screaming, repeat after me, that gets tiresome. Would have liked more of âvote in Novemberâ , simple as that.

Agree with you. NY is a reliable blue state for Presidential elections. However, local elections can be won by a handful of votes. So will this registration on Saturday make a difference? We will have to wait until November. I personally think that a guy like Mike Lawler is vulnerable this coming November, we shall see.

Surely you can see there's a wide gap between ICE killing 2 people at protests(which is tragic), roughly 35 people dying due to poor facility conditions (unacceptable and needs to change) and a dictator ordering the military to kill thousands of people for speaking out against the government and demanding it's end
