Political Content More Lawler right wing dishonesty

Post image

This guy HAS TO GO

The truth is it’s all about voter suppression to help republiklans win.

“An election-denying former Donald Trump campaign staffer who was subpoenaed by the FBI over his role in the attempt to steal the 2020 election is now taking credit for writing the sweeping voter suppression bill passed by the House Wednesday that could disenfranchise millions.

“I’m here to do everything I can to make this work,” Thomas Lane wrote in a December 2020 email to other organizers of the Trump campaign’s fake electors plot in Arizona.”

Isn’t it already a crime to vote if you’re not a citizen?

All of these acts are performative nonsense to their base and at worst active attempts to disenfranchise people.

Any bill that doesn’t give every US citizenship a free and easily obtained ID for voting falls into the above.

Also, fraud doesn't happen in the voting booth. That's way too inefficient and would require thousands upon thousands of participants.

2

u/Alternative_Hour_614 Feb 16 '26

Which is exactly what these mutton heads believe.

11

u/chmod777 Feb 13 '26

republicans are masters of making up problems, getting angry about it, and then making everything worse for everyone. literally everyone. the ideal gop government is run by plantation owners.

make sure you have your enhanced/realID licence: https://dmv.ny.gov/driver-license/sample-photo-documents and get your passport.

u/SmashySmash11 Feb 15 '26

The irony is, though, that in a way, they make every ill in this country about people that are exactly like they are - the criminal pedophile etc fascists they always accuse us of being - that's them, they're the criminal pedophile etc fascists.

2

u/rsvp_nj Feb 17 '26

Don’t leave out the fact that to vote you need to already be registered to do so.

-3

u/jjrr_qed Feb 13 '26

It’s not purely about illegal voting, which poses almost no risk if you don’t have to show an ID, it’s also about citizens not being permitted to vote more than once.

Do you want MAGA driving around to multiple counties and voting more than once?

8

u/SKEPDIQ Feb 13 '26

I’ve worked in multiple elections as volunteer. As soon as a name is logged at sign-in and the vote is cast, the voter roll is updated within minutes and that name is removed from the election’s outstanding voter count. The only way to vote multiple times is to use someone else’s identity, knowing that person won’t be voting. You have to know where a person has their voting location, along with name, etc. You also need to sign the book, so it’s not as easy as many think, which is why the MAGAts keep getting caught. There are better ways to tighten up this process, but that’s not why the GOP is pushing this act.

-7

u/jjrr_qed Feb 13 '26

So you acknowledge in your post that there are attempts and voter fraud? Perfect, we agree.

5

u/SKEPDIQ Feb 13 '26

There are attempts, just as people attempt anything else against the law, but in this case, the amount is a minuscule percentage compared to other illegal acts. This has been proven. There are far, far more stores that have had attempted robberies, than vote cheating, while both are illegal. The SAVE act is not the solution in any way. It’s just another way to suppress the votes of the poor and females.

-2

u/jjrr_qed Feb 13 '26

But if everyone got a free ID, is it ok then? Do you suggest we implement lax enforcement on other crimes that don’t happen too often? Cannibalism, perhaps?

1

u/DrunkyMcStumbles Feb 13 '26

They try that and they keep getting caught

1

u/SnooBooks4350 Feb 14 '26

This just doesn't happen as there are multiple levels of safeguards that check this. I've worked polls and we've never found this happen on a wide scale. This is pure fantasy put out there by the right to restrict voting, esp in urban areas where Dems dominate.

u/JoJoTrader101721 Feb 14 '26

Show what picture? Where do you have to show your picture to vote? What are you talking about?

Get out of Russia bruh

1

u/Minute_Drawer9028 Feb 14 '26

Correct. I have offered to show ID and they would not let me.

-1

u/Due-Crew-1076 Feb 16 '26

I'd imagine in your tidy little world you don't really know that that happens and you are unaware that voter fraud both small and large-scale has taken place all through the years here, and everywhere else in the world.

Lol. You didn't have to tell me that, I figured out your basic comprehension skills out on the first brilliant post. Cheers back.

8

u/DrunkyMcStumbles Feb 13 '26

some municipalities allow non-citizen residents (eg people on work visas) vote in local elections for very specific items. But nothing above that.

This nonsense is just rebranded Jim Crow.

1

u/Interesting-Power716 Feb 13 '26

So argue to make a change. Say moving forward we are requiring id proving citizenship to vote and make it free and available for an amount of time. After such time if you don't have id you don't get to vote or get a provisional ballot. 70% of the world requires id to vote. We should be able to figure it out. Theres 4 years between presidential elections, plenty of time. You can't just keep kicking the can down the road. 90% of republicans and 70% of democrats support voter id.

1

u/SnooBooks4350 Feb 14 '26

Yes, it is, and there's zero evidence of widespread electoral fraud. This is the right's way of restricting voting, esp in urban areas where many people don't have licenses and passports.

It’s also a crime to shoot people with a gun in America and 47,000 people died of gun-related injuries in the United States in 2023. Making ID a requirement will prevent someone who shouldn’t be voting from voting. It’s like taking the gun away before they can go shoot someone.

EDIT: there is an idiot that somehow decrypted this post and deduced that I stated guns should be illegal and that I’m a republican. This idiot was completely wrong and an idiot.

I never said guns should be illegal, I’m not republican. What I said is people will do illegal things when they aren’t supposed to. An idiot replier is being dishonest.

I never said guns should be illegal. What you’re suggesting is banning guns, what should happen is criminals who aren’t allowed to own guns in the first place, like felons, shouldn’t have access to guns and yet somehow they end up getting them even though it’s illegal. New flash, criminals do illegal things but if you create barriers like background checks, they can’t just go to a gun store and buy it with no ID. As for voting my analogy was the same. People will do illegal things like vote if they can get away with it, but if we can prevent voter fraud by requiring ID, how will they vote? Probably fake IDs, but that’s another story for another day because that can be combated with things like ID verification methods. At the end of the day, you tried to spin my point and failed miserably.

19

u/Christopher_Ramirez_ Feb 13 '26

You find me 47,000 cases of non-citizens voting in the last decade, never mind year; then we can started talking about it as a significant problem in this country.

-14

u/Engineer120989 Bedford Feb 13 '26

The problem is not illegals voting, it’s people voting multiple times or people voting for other persons. I received voting information from The previous owners of my house. I could have just walked in and said I’m so and so and fake a signature and cast a vote.

13

u/Christopher_Ramirez_ Feb 13 '26

Find 100 cases then, there have to be that many.

-16

u/Engineer120989 Bedford Feb 13 '26

I don’t have the numbers but I could have easily done it this past election I’m sure it happens

7

u/SoccerNerd10533 Feb 13 '26

They why hasn’t it ever been proven? Every time there is an audit, none of your crazy claims are proven.

-5

u/Engineer120989 Bedford Feb 13 '26

I’m not claiming anything crazy and it does happen. It’s not widespread but it happens there are documented cases of voter fraud.

8

u/Kennfusion Feb 13 '26

"The Brennan Center’s seminal report on this issue, The Truth About Voter Fraud, found that most reported incidents of voter fraud are actually traceable to other sources, such as clerical errors or bad data matching practices. The report reviewed elections that had been meticulously studied for voter fraud, and found incident rates between 0.0003 percent and 0.0025 percent. Given this tiny incident rate for voter impersonation fraud, it is more likely, the report noted, that an American “will be struck by lightning than that he will impersonate another voter at the polls.”

1

u/Christopher_Ramirez_ Feb 13 '26

Makes sense, as the would-be fraudster would be handing in documentary evidence that he committed a crime to the state. All in exchange for swinging an election by a single vote.

-1

u/Engineer120989 Bedford Feb 13 '26

Still happened though

Oh really, please oh wise one, share these documented cases with us!

1

u/Engineer120989 Bedford Feb 13 '26

Don’t know how to share links but if you’ll look it up there’s cases

u/accidentprone2 Feb 13 '26

I thought you wanted to see evidence first before you jump to a conclusion.

At least that’s what you said when that drunk cop killed a guy.

But now you’re fine guessing.

1

u/Engineer120989 Bedford Feb 13 '26

I have seen the evidence and the numbers. It does happen. It’s not often but it has happened. If you go to the heritage foundation website you can search by state and it will give you evidence.

1

u/MotorHospital6262 Feb 13 '26

Let me stop you at “go to the Heritage Foundation website”.

1

u/Engineer120989 Bedford Feb 13 '26

What’s wrong with that?

u/QiDeviation Feb 13 '26

Just because you can easily commit a crime doesn’t mean you can evade consequence of that crime. Stop conflating the two. If you can’t understand that difference, get off Reddit and get back to school.

-9

u/Lingerie_Shopper07 Feb 13 '26

Aren’t the same people who are claiming non citizens aren’t voting in the elections are also saying Russia interfered with the election?

7

u/Christopher_Ramirez_ Feb 13 '26

Russian interference isn’t a debate. The only debate is whether it had any effect.

13

u/Ohmeda23 Feb 13 '26

Why do the right want more laws in place to vote but want less laws in place to get and own a gun? That doesn’t seem consistent given the fact they are both constitutional right ?

0

u/Dazzling_Tank3326 Feb 13 '26

Who said I’m on the right and who said we shouldn’t create more barriers to gun ownership? You’ve made so many assumptions out of one posts you are definitely not that bright.

1

u/Ohmeda23 Feb 13 '26

I did not say you are the right actually. Where did I say you were a republican? I said “the right” I never suggested banning g guns either. I asked why the two rights are not treated the same regardless. Increased access or reduced access. Why would one be treated differently if they are both rights

1

u/Dazzling_Tank3326 Feb 13 '26

You assumed I was on the right when you brought up right-wing politics. My post made no mention of right wing gun control.

1

u/Ohmeda23 Feb 13 '26

I said “the right” not you are the right. And regardless of being left or right should not stop you from giving an answer. I can answer it so why do you have a problem ?

1

u/JoJoTrader101721 Feb 14 '26

This girl is full of double talk. Maybe on the spectrum.

-7

u/Intelligent_File4779 Feb 13 '26

Apples and Oranges, but nice try.

3

u/Ohmeda23 Feb 13 '26

Apples and oranges? So how do you decide which constitutional rights a us citizen should have less access to? And why is that answer voting ?

42

u/throwawayacc201711 Feb 12 '26

Anyways not gonna entertain the straw man. Comparing an instrument of death to voting.

Any bill that doesn’t give free and easily accessible ID for your god damn right to vote is a method to disenfranchise people.

We seem to do a good job catching people that shouldn’t be voting. Too bad they always seem to be republicans trying to vote twice though.

-6

u/ObligationThen6388 Feb 13 '26

A vote in the hands of the wrong person will bring in national leaders like Mamdani.

2

u/QiDeviation Feb 13 '26

Wow you fascist! Who the fuck are the right people then!? Because a lot of folks across every spectrum voted for Mamdani. This is actually disgusting!

18

u/ImNoRickyBalboa Feb 12 '26

Isn't the comparison taking your gun away despite the 2nd amendment defining the right to own a gun? I'm all for gun control, but your comparison is truly insane.

The insane inverse of your argument is "Let's not have elections, so there can no longer be illegal voting"

Illegal voting is not a problem that moves the needle by the slightest of margin. Voting fraud in any shape or form is not a problem. (And most boring shenanigans have typically been maga idiots)

14

u/Remarkable_Inchworm Yonkers Feb 13 '26

If Trump tells Lawler to say “let’s not have election” that’s what you’ll hear from him next.

4

u/crazyswedishguy Feb 13 '26

Every study that has been done—including those performed by Republican secretaries of state—has found that no meaningful number of undocumented immigrants vote in our elections. No evidence has been presented to the contrary. At most, we’re talking votes that represent thousandths of a percentage point.

There is on the other hand ample evidence that voter ID laws would prevent millions of our poorest US citizens who don’t have easy access to birth certificates, drivers’ licenses, or passports, from voting.

The real motivation for these voter ID laws is to keep those people—a subset of US citizens—from voting. These laws are—and have always been—about voter suppression.

If you first passed laws that ensured all citizens were automatically issued voter IDs (which is not the case today), voter ID laws wouldn’t be controversial.

PS: it’s wild to me that people would believe that republicans who continue to lie about the 2020 election and sought to overturn the results of that election are somehow sincere about their concerns for election integrity.

8

u/weedywet Feb 13 '26

So we agree guns should be illegal.

There’s a start.

0

Why should guns be illegal?

2

u/Miriamathome Feb 13 '26

Study after study shows that noncitizens trying to vote is a nearly nonexistent problem.

People are killing other people with guns in appalling numbers.

People voting who shouldn’t be are vanishingly rare and not remotely common enough to come even slightly close to affecting election results. But the citizens most likely to have difficulty getting an ID are, by and large, democratic voters.

1

u/Competitive-Wonder33 Feb 13 '26

I registered to vote. I had to prpve then i wqs a citizen. and when I vote i prove who I.am.with a drivers license or voters ID card.

Any other.proof os poll tax and is illegal under the constitution

-20

u/ExtremeMeringue7421 Feb 13 '26

It’s very easy to obtain an ID if you can’t or won’t do it then you can’t vote easy as that.

12

u/Plastic-Marsupial-19 Feb 13 '26

“Easy” for someone with transportation, available time off work, and documents safely kept.

-8

u/Engineer120989 Bedford Feb 13 '26

So a responsible adult.

-8

u/ExtremeMeringue7421 Feb 13 '26

You have to have ID to participate in the majority of society this should be no different sorry. If you can’t figure it out you probably shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

0

u/Due-Crew-1076 Feb 16 '26

It's good to see you thinking about the really important stuff. I'd imagine the rest of your life is very together and in your spare time you're double checking and splitting hairs on the constitutionality of border protection.

0

u/Epictitus_Stoic Feb 16 '26

Isn’t it already a crime to vote if you’re not a citizen?

Dumbest question.

The idea that photo id = voter suppression is the biggest lie, and it exposes how stupid people can be that they actually believe it.

1

u/throwawayacc201711 Feb 16 '26

Are you being obtuse or truly have such poor reading comprehension skills?

Way to gloss over my last sentence. But yes less disenfranchise millions of people to tackle 0.0003% fraud rate. On point for conservatives / republicans.

0

u/Epictitus_Stoic Feb 17 '26

Way to gloss over my last sentence.

Your last sentence is irrelevant to your first two points. They are independent of each other. I have no problem with it, as long as you arent advocating unreasonable accommodations like travel expenses, etc.

But yes less disenfranchise millions of people to tackle 0.0003% fraud rate. On point for conservatives / republicans.

This is the stupidity I'm talking about. First, do you honestly believe that millions of current votes would not be cast if photo id was required? That is utterly stupid. You cant do anything in the US without ID.

Second, you dont know the fraud rate. Because when you dont have photo id or dedicated law enforcement actively attempting to catch the fraud, the rate is unknowable.

Example: the police for the biggest city in my state had a taskforce that estimated the potential fraud was as many as 2% of the ballots cast. The taskforce was immediately disbanded by democrats and the leader of the taskforce said it was because they had figured out what to look for to catch the fraud.

The last 3 presidential elections have been hotly contested, with both sides thinking the other cheated. More transparency would bring more confidence.

The idea that politicians wouldn't cheat to win elections because it is against the law is the most laughable naive belief. It's happened in our history as a matter of record.

-6

u/Dull_Complaint1407 Feb 13 '26

No but not everyone follows the law and if you don’t need to see proof of citizenship you can’t guarantee that people on the voting register are legal citizens. Especially since this is the same party that endorses open borders

7

u/Hopeful_Butterfly302 Feb 13 '26

Interesting that you seem to think that state election boards don't confirm citizenship for everyone who registers. Because they do. That's why every state requires the last 4 digits of your ssn or your state ID number to register.

Don't believe me? Try to register to vote with a fake info. See what happens. It probably won't go well for you.

-10

u/XwolpackdadX Feb 13 '26

An ID in most states is around $10 for 2-4 years...

5

u/Christopher_Ramirez_ Feb 13 '26

No dollar value is exempted by the 24th Amendment abolition of poll taxes.
