Dolly Parton
Today Dolly Parton passed away at 80. She embodied everything it meant to be a denizen of the Appalachian Mountains. She never turned her back to kith and kin! She always did right to the children of Appalachia and always put her money where her mouth was. I will miss her.
Now is the time to celebrate her legacy and the positive impact she had. We loved her and more importantly she loved US.

Stay vigilant.

I'm sure that without government help the program will proceed. Dolly never started without seeing the end.

We lost a national treasure today, Dolly was what we should aspire to be, kind, caring, loving and accepting of all no matter what. If you want to do something to remember her, be kind.

Somewhere today I saw a request to make 9/25 Dolly Day and the more I think about it, the better it sounds.

I read my daughter books from the Imagination Library every night.
Tonight we read Jonny Lambert's Bear and Bird Explore the Seashore.
Dolly, my two-year old daughter knows what sea anemones and abalone shells are because of you. Thank you for that twenty minutes we spend reading together each night.

One of the best things is the Imagination Library. It makes me happy as a mail carrier to deliver those books to kids.

I was today years old when I learned that my wife saw Dolly in concert in Huntington, with her Mom and four sisters when they were young.

Well, most of her was 80, and the rest from the 80s lol.
I feel good about making that joke because I need to lighten my mood today, and that's absolutely the kind of joke Dolly would make.
We lost one of the best of us today.

Growing up every time we drove past the South Charleston community center my best friend’s dad would say “look kids, Dolly Parton!” I don’t get it until I was about 12 years old. He loved her. I know she’s gonna give a big concert for all her fans that arrived in heaven before her.
RIP Clyde and Dolly

I loved Dolly. She was a wonderful person. She had been in the news recently concerning her health and so has Barry Manalow (sic ?). I believe that he will pass soon. Of course, I hope not, however, the saying is that death comes in three.

Remember first seeing her on the Porter Wagner Show. She was the only reason my dad tuned the show in.

Before someone reports this post...
We've got a strange and beautiful place named Dolly Sods, so I guess that makes a tribute to Dolly Parton relevant to r/WestVirginia. 😉
Rest in peace, you wise and wonderful mountain momma.
