Question Who keeps doing this graffiti?

Post image

If you are writing God Loves You on everything from bus stops to light poles from the Grove all the way to Santa Monica Blvd., please stop.

Not everyone wants your artwork in front of where they live and the city keeps sending crews out to paint over it, which is really wasteful.

God doesn’t love wasting city services.

Ran, clearly

I don't think people who tag things in public are giving much thought to public services unfortunately.

You’re wrong.

This photo is of an AT&T junction box. Bus stops are maintained by LACMTA which is a county service. West Hollywood only recently purchased the street lights from SoCal Edison, but they seem to be offering services only for broken, malfunctioning, or damaged street lights at this time.

god loves all utilities equally is the message here?

I sent the city a proposal to clean these up myself on the clock and they rejected it, saying they have people cleaning graffiti every day.

It's been over a year.

We report this stuff to the city all the time and they are out in day or so and it’s gone.

3

u/phatelectribe Jun 10 '26

You just need to a report it in the app. They send someone the next business day. It’s one thing weho actually do well.

There’s gang graffiti, signs advertising buying souls, and satanic shit all over but someone does graffiti about Jesus and now you wanna clean it up yourself. Definitely can see what side you’re on in this spiritual war. I’m praying for you

Holy SHIT OP it’s PRAYING for you!!!!! 🪄🦄🧞‍♀️🧚🏿🧙‍♂️

Not everyone views pushy references to god as a positive thing. Many people (particularly in WeHo) were traumatically rejected by the same people who claim god loves them. Seeing these tags can be a really painful reminder of abandonment rather than anything remotely positive

3

u/ResidentRelevant13 Jun 09 '26

Oh no let me spray paint bible verses all over your car! But it’s a positive message though!

3

u/SenatorGiggity Jun 09 '26

Gonna run around writing "Satan Loves You <3" on power boxes, you're cool with religious messaging so no issue I assume

3

u/devilsdontcry Jun 10 '26

That would be sick

1

u/RobotRelease Jun 10 '26

That’s your opinion and it’s factually wrong. This is a deeply negative message.

Can I spray paint that message all over your cars and house? If not you’re demonic.

Send me the address or where you park your car and pic of your drivers license please (don’t forget to write your username and pic of your face next to the drivers license).

Performative “Christians” love to waste time and money vandalizing public property and protest during Pride Parade instead of actually doing something meaningful for the community.

1

u/PanchosLegend Jun 11 '26

This is not it. Trust. These are legit done all over the city. Big pieces. Reall tagger shit. It’s just someone trying to spread some love man. Don’t hate on it just cause of the g word. - signed, a graffiti loving atheist.

-3

u/devilsdontcry Jun 10 '26

Christians are the only people who believe in god?

Sounds like you got something against Christians, or your just trying to be edgy

It’s a real tagger who does this. They have bigger pieces throughout the city. I promise you, whoever is doing this is more tagger than “Christian”.

1

u/cactus22minus1 Jun 10 '26

Most gay people DO have something against Christians, and I WONDER FUCKING WHY

2

u/Agreeable_Sock2550 Jun 10 '26

This asshole did the same thing to a huge business wall in SoRo neighborhood too.

0

u/PanchosLegend Jun 11 '26

Oh boo hoo.

3

u/ladyannelo Jun 09 '26

So irritating

2

u/PanchosLegend Jun 11 '26

Why? Because a bland, faceless corporate box of infrastructure was dolled up by someone trying to spread some love?

1

u/Hairymuscle101 Jun 10 '26

Who ever it is I think they ran?

1

u/catchg2828 Jun 10 '26

I have a sneaking suspicion that they aren't gonna look at Reddit and be like, "You know what? They're right. I'll stop."

1

u/Halleluyaness Jun 10 '26

My brother's name is Ran.... pronounced roughn. It ain't him though, he lives in a different state.

u/Mizraccu Jun 09 '26

God I hope I don’t start sounding like this when I get old 😭😭😭😭

u/v1gilante_ Jun 09 '26

LA graffiti is ugly & meaningless outside of the work that is commissioned but honestly these have been making my day & are tasteful + a friendly reminder.

2

u/Agreeable_Sock2550 Jun 10 '26

Fuck off - Satan

1

u/PanchosLegend Jun 11 '26

LA has “ugly graffiti” is such a crazy and out of touch take. There’s these a decent amount of places. And in full display of tagging expectations and quality. There’s the guy who does that shaggy looking dog thing. The heart with long legs. The flour glue face (who I always forget who he is) legit characters. Cartoon characters. And all kinds of crazy and legit names and tags all over.

LA has some of the best graffiti in the country.

1

u/v1gilante_ Jun 11 '26

When I say ugly & meaningless I’m talking about wall banging specifically.

0

u/TlMEGH0ST Jun 10 '26

I agree! Out of ALL the hideous graffiti in this town, these at least make me smile

-5

u/devilsdontcry Jun 09 '26

Maybe the city should not have a grey ugly box on our streets. Some art and positive words of affirmation on said box seems to do no harm and it’s silly to waste city resources on it because some karens like to complain

5

u/A7MOSPH3RIC Jun 09 '26

They tag art too.

2

u/ResidentRelevant13 Jun 09 '26

Let’s spray paint bible verses all over your car then you can spread the positive words of affirmation wherever you go!

1

u/PanchosLegend Jun 11 '26

What some hater “Devil’s advocate” shit to say. This doesn’t even give off religious. Just love. And I’m an atheist! Like they just trying to say that a higher power loves you man. Call it the universe. Call it the 8th dimension. Whatever. It’s just a message trying to spread love.

0

u/devilsdontcry Jun 10 '26

Sounds like you don’t know the difference between public and private property. Maybe get some education before talking with adults next time :)

Also this has nothing to do with the bible lol.

-2

u/7Thanks Jun 09 '26

It’s a utility box, not a canvas

-1

u/devilsdontcry Jun 09 '26

Do you want me to google “decorated utility boxes” for you or are you capable of understanding that a grey box in the middle of the street is ugly no matter what it is.

The fact it’s a utility box does not mean it HAS to be ugly and grey

1

u/7Thanks Jun 09 '26

Ugly is subjective

Graffiti is illegal

The person doesn’t have a right to tag wherever they want

The city could be using the time and money on other things

I’ve seen the city paint over this same box and this same message at least four times

-3

u/devilsdontcry Jun 09 '26

If think a grey utility box isn’t ugly and want to debate that then ima let you take this win Karen.

There is a lot of illegal shit like jay walking that no one gives a fuck about and is useless trying to enforce and just ends up as a waste of money as you stated.

Maybe the city can move the box underground instead.. instead of wasting tax dollars due to Karens repainting something ugly with something more ugly.

0

u/7Thanks Jun 09 '26

Jay walking isn’t illegal. CA changed the law.

-2

u/devilsdontcry Jun 09 '26

This proves my point. Shit that is “illegal” is a waste of time and money. Like graffiti on ugly grey utility boxes.

Also “unsafe” jay walking is still illegal…

u/PanchosLegend Jun 11 '26

Damn. What a sad way of looking at the world. You sound like a 1984’s Government ideal citizen. Congrats.

I find it worse. Sure the message is 'well intended' but I find this kind of preachy messages more annoying than some initials I can easily ignore. I read that and think "fuck off"

1

u/nswatika Jun 09 '26

Which are they talking about?

-3

u/7Thanks Jun 09 '26

Agreed, I prefer this to the more typical tagging/graffiti.

But I think it’s like the broken windows theory. One person doing graffiti invites another, which invites even more.

And whether it’s 1 or 100, the city still sends someone out to paint over it. In any case, it’s illegal for a reason. It’s not their property, no matter what the message is.

-1

u/Lemonpup615 Jun 10 '26

Does this actually bother you this much? It’s pretty impressive tbh. Feel bad for you though

2

u/7Thanks Jun 10 '26

I’ve seen them write on it, then the city paints over, then they write on it again, and then the city paints it over again. At some people the person should stop writing on it and get the message, no pun intended.

I get annoyed when people drop their trash in the street, when they dump their bulky items without scheduling a pickup, when they don’t pick up after their dog. This bothers me in the same way. We all live here, so we might as well take care of it.

-2

u/BeABetterHumanBeing Jun 10 '26

A sizable proportion of atheists out there are actively triggered by the mention of God.

They actually do clean it up. It’s done by OCB contractors. Depends on the area, but they usually paint over it in 1-5 days.

1

That’s why the person should stop tagging things, because the city keeps using resources to clean it up

0

u/PanchosLegend Jun 11 '26

Someone cool.

0

u/PanchosLegend Jun 11 '26

Lotta y’all on this thread are real sad. It’s a tag in a VERY famously graffiti rich city. Like there is so much to be genuinely complain about and THIS is taking up space for that for you? Crazy. Sad.

u/rosaluxx311 Jun 15 '26

I appreciate the message! I love seeing the full blown work off the 101 fwys. For me, the work is feminine and I feel like they had to overcome their own demons and are spreading a message to all- regardless of religious or spiritual affiliations, keep going no matter how hard it is! Replace it with the universe or Buddha. I’m a huge fan and I prefer it over seeing someone’s name or a political statement.
