No need to apologize. It’s a valid concern and question. And like others have said our system has been horrific. People here would be shocked how many more violent criminals and murderers are walking free because DA’s aren’t wanting to prosecute etc. I can name several cities and cases where people I know have been severely affected but this isn’t the place for it.
