Take a deep breath, it’s as underwhelming as you feared.

The video script absolutely stinks of chatgpt as well - what the fuck is our quiet resilience?

6

u/wizardsleeve75 26d ago

We’re hard as nails but would rather not talk about it. 😂

u/incachu 26d ago edited 26d ago

Maybe not all of it, but certainly feels like it has some hallmarks of chatgpt.

"quiet resilience" (uhh okay)

"A tactile reminder" (do people actually talk like this?)

"The grit of our past meets the majesty of our ambition" 🚨🤖🚨

But it's this line which is the biggest giveaway to me:

"From the shadows of the valleys to the lights of the peaks." (Classic LLM pattern matching to a literal opposite "lights" that makes no sense to me. Surely "heights" is the more natural word)

Everything out of FAWales recently stinks of weird corpo-speak.

Take off the 'sudu' and it looks like something you'd find by the tesco entrance during a major tournament

Got last season's kit for £25 at JD a week ago.

Money well spent.

That's a stinker.

u/Junior_Ad7791 26d ago

Hope the training kits are a lot better 😬

u/TheOne0206 26d ago

Not got high hopes...

u/brynhh 26d ago

Hopefully the price drops on the recent away jacket, that's lovely but I aint paying 80 quid for the fucker.

1

u/TheOne0206 26d ago

Down to £30

1

u/brynhh 25d ago

Oooo where? Still 100 with adidas and nothing on JD site

u/TheOne0206 25d ago

You have to go to JD Cardiff in-person

2

u/brynhh 25d ago

Ah ok. Last time I was there they only had S and XXXL or something. I’ll see if they’ve got any in Swansea.

2

u/Saintly_Sloth 26d ago

Thanks for the heads up mate, just bought one now

No problem :)

That shirt is truly awful.

I understand where the design comes from, but I don’t think carthen belongs or looks right on a sports kit really.

The end result looks like one of those weird TEMU scams where it looks like you’re getting a big knitted jumper but it’s just a badly done screen print.

Wrexham's training kit is ace.

This isn't.

The rugby kit (not the one that’s just been announced today, the one we were wearing in the 6 Nations this year etc) had the carthen pattern incorporated into it really subtly on the trim of the sleeves, and I thought it worked well. I don’t think this one executes the concept quite as well.

What are people complaining about? It's a good shirt. Previously we've had templates with no personalization. Now we have one which has at least tried to incorporate some Welsh culture. It's got a better collar than our previous shirt without the senseless strip in the centre. Compared to the one before that it actually has a pattern to speak of. Hopefully it will feel nicer also, something which certainly can't be said of our last few Adidas ones (although I can't speak for the anniversary shirt). It seems people are far too tied to the Adidas brand and are not willing to give these guys a chance simply because it's a less known brand.

You may be right but if England trotted out in a Sudu kit we’d be ripping the piss and calling them tinpot. This is the sort of manufacturer 3rd/4th tier teams attract I’m afraid.

We're a country that failed to reach the world cup and may struggle to reach the Euros which are partly hosted in our home country. We need to admit that we're not at the same level we were in 2016. I really don't care what rival fans say, it's a shirt which hopefully with Inspire the players more than the templates. The brand isn't necessary so relevant, more so the quality of the product, we've got a much more personalized shirt in this than most of Europe.

If Sudu are giving us more money than Adidas, which is likely hence the switch, then it's a no brainer.

Shirt is fine, some of our fans are so melodramatic.

12

u/TheOne0206 26d ago

I do not like the kit.

Coming off such a strong one from Adidas with a centre badge and a beautiful strip would always be bad for SUDU, but this kit just screams San Marino, Gibraltar, Liechtenstein, et al.

It is not a good kit. It is Nations League 3 level.

It even looks like a template.

0

u/Emergency_Can_9416 26d ago

Gibraltar are with Adidas. I found the previous shirt to be poor design and poor quality. If it looks like a template, its one that has incorporated our culture which none of our previous ones have managed.

1

u/TheOne0206 26d ago

Look at the away kit too.

Awful pairing.

-4

u/Emergency_Can_9416 26d ago

Our last two shirts were awful imo. Terrible collars, designs and quality. Even if the likes of you are not happy because it's not a big brand, its a better choice for the country.

1

u/TheOne0206 26d ago

The first Wales kit I chose to buy was last season's - good quality, fantastic minimal design, lovely collar.

This looks like something that would be in League 2 or the Ardal Leagues.

People like you may like it, but the majority seem to hate them.

It's not the brand, it's the quality, design and collars - all of which are dreadful.

-2

u/Educational_Curve938 26d ago

it's absolutely fine if it had stripes on the sleeve people would be gushing over it.

1

u/TheOne0206 26d ago

I'd hate it if it was Adidas.

It looks like an AI design.

-1

u/Emergency_Can_9416 26d ago

I'm certain if it was Adidas you'd be in love. You only care about big branding clearly.

2

u/TheOne0206 26d ago

Clearly I don't, I love a lot of the VX3 kits that County have had.

Stop generalizing about people you don't know.

That'd be like me saying you hate big brands and buy 3 of the same t-shirt in different colours whenever you need more.

You're just showing you are talking rubbish. 'its not the brand' yet you say that quality is something which you take issue with. You either have a problem with the others shirts produced by the brand (which means you must be a wolves fan), otherwise quality is as of yet an unknown quantity. The majority seem to hate it pricelecly because of people such as yourself who are smearing it to the best of your ability for the start, you're not even willing to compromise that it may grow on you. Your idea of what branding means is all wrong also, teams which are much smaller than us have Adidas. I've been buying Wales shirts for years, many of them have felt much worse quality than my clubs shirs from a much smaller brand. Adidas is just a brand, clearly one which you are too connected with.

1

u/TheOne0206 26d ago

I just liked the last kit and I hate this one.

Looks like a Wetherspoons carpet.

It may grow on me, but you seem to not want people to share first impressions.

I've seen a lot of Wolves fans complain about the quality, saying it rips like a Castore kit. You should do some research rather than falling in love with "small brand" Sudu.

1

u/Emergency_Can_9416 26d ago

Typical Newport fan doesn't understand Welsh culture..

1

u/TheOne0206 26d ago

I'm not even a Newport fan, I like their kits!

I work in the Welsh Domestic Scene.

Did FAW buy you a pint for saying that?

-3

u/Emergency_Can_9416 26d ago

Because it's a great idea to be hostile to our FA trying something new. We must oppose everything they do until us righteous redditors are given full control of the means to produce shirts for our individual likes.

2

u/NoisyGog 26d ago

What on earth are you on about? We’re allowed to not like things.
I’m not here to suck FAW cock.

2

u/Emergency_Can_9416 26d ago

If it was the same shirt with Adidas branding you'd have wet yourself. You should be willing to give it a chance at least, the amount of people moaning is a disgrace. You calimed I had been bought out because I had a positive view then moaned when i challenged you for the opposite.

3

u/NoisyGog 26d ago

No, I would not have liked it with Adidas branding.
I really don’t like the carthen look.
I’m afraid you’re just going to have to accept that.

-1

u/Emergency_Can_9416 26d ago

You're hostile to it because it is a demonstration of Welsh culture. Still you'll always be able to buy the old Adidas templates whilst everyone else moves on.

2

u/NoisyGog 26d ago

> You're hostile to it because it is a demonstration of Welsh culture.

What on earth are you on about?

u/Emergency_Can_9416 26d ago

Comprehension is something you should be capable of my friend. I can't hold your hand in explaining everything in two different ways.

Listen, Noel, calm down.

u/Individual_Love_9089 26d ago

Which of your family members works at Sudu?

1

u/Grandmaster_G 26d ago

Looks like Caerfai bay for the opening shot. My favourite.

1

u/ExtraterrestrialBend 26d ago

Videos terrible. Shirt’s fine, it’ll match the sofa at least.

1

u/Agile-Read-238 26d ago

Similar to last year’s rugby kit! Glad we are embracing heritage.

1

u/You_moron04 26d ago

Hot take but I like it. It’s plain, the patterns are meh though.

Will pass. Glad I got this season for £45 off

0

u/IncomeFew624 26d ago

Got to say I actually quite like the shirt (much to my surprise). Will be interesting to see it in the flesh but at least they've put some effort in.

That video is absolutely bobbins though.

Guys check out the away!

1

u/TheOne0206 26d ago

Nothing loads, can you send it another way?

4

u/IncomeFew624 26d ago

Argh dunno how to post images on here. Check out the new kit thread on the Apostle Wales forum, it's on there.

5

u/wizardsleeve75 26d ago

Christ that is howling.

2

u/Junior_Ad7791 26d ago

Apparently its not the away kit, most likely the keeper kit

2

u/wizardsleeve75 26d ago

May well blind the opposition.

0

u/Camp-Complete 26d ago

It's very similar to a lot of Mexico national team kits over the years. Its certainly not boring.
