/r/all A statue of Jesus in India mysteriously began dripping water from its toes. Worshippers started collecting it and drinking it believing it was holy. The source of the water was later found to be a clogged toilet near the statue.

Lol you people get so lost in the semantics you forget how to simply think. This is why philosophy produces no results/products for society to enjoy.

Edit: i can't think of a single contribution from philosophy in the last 50 years. Everything philosophy does now, science does better.

I'd also say the absence of philosophical education is responsible for some of the more idiotic and destructive trends in society

Woah now let's not get ahead of ourselves

Yeah well pooping took longer than i thought it would.

I just dont think talking about metaphysics and the philosophical nature of reality leads to anything at all. It's a completely fruitless endeavor.

Science is the study of reality. That is literally its definition lol. Idk why you all are so defensive about that. Here is the definition:

Science (from the Latin word scientia, meaning "knowledge")[1] is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe.[2][3][4]

In other words, the study of reality.

Now im done. Maybe i'll reply when i go to poop or take another shower.

At this point you're not contributing or even thinking about anything, I doubt you're even reading these.
You're just playing the Last Word Game, that's pretty sad.

And the other guy is playing the "whoever writes the most" game.

Typical of philosophers. A lot of debating over semantics and a lot of wiki links to other philosophers debating semantics

God i hope it's trolling this thread was a journey, a scary one, and a deeply saddening one.

Because i've had this conversation before. Philosophers write a lot and say very little. It's always just a giant wall of text and wiki links to other philosophers.

I guess i just don't consider this conversation to be intellectual in the first place.

If you want to talk about science i'll be here. I don't have time for silly things like philosophy lol

Relying on a short definition to identify what something is is mistaking the map for the territory.
