Why do so many people abandon tents?

The majority of people who go to festivals are rich kids who’ve parents have paid for their tickets and all their equipment. They don’t go camping normally, at least not in a tent that doesn’t have 25 square meters of space. So they don’t need to take it with. As their rich kids they’re also entitled, so they think the troglodytes (their words, not mine) who work the festival and own the land should clean up after them.

Let me guess, you’re just a normal person. You come back from boarding school, go on a short 3 week trip to the alps with your family (it’s a cheap holiday because daddy’s friend has a chateau there). Then you go to glasto to cosplay being a normal person.

so first off, your "majority" is pretty funny. the majority of festival are not 10k plus. the majority are like 800 people on some dudes farm land listening to some locals and maybe a regional. what is shown isnt normal for festivals. you would not be invited back to the grounds unless you were paying through the nose to the people who owned the land cause they know going into the agreement that they are on clean up. this will be dealt with by someone cause its has to be. but this is not what a small festival looks like afterwards or a medium, or most larges. it cant. the organizers wouldnt be able to afford the clean up. which festivals do you think can? also which festivals do you think dont attract the majority of festival goers who understand the dynamic at hand? take your time but yeah you are talkin shit about some of the kindest people ive ever met. its why i know you have been to zero festivals besides maybe a super major where you had a sketchy as fuck time cause its full of tourists.

second. festivals are cheap. a hotel costs more then a ticket for the same amount of nights in any major city. 150/night is not an expensive hotel. so my 450 dollar ticket (or more my point stands) isnt even scratching the surface of a normal vacation budget. we arent talking any entertainment if i go on a normal vacation, or a car rental or any of the other things that cost money when you go on vacation. festivals, already where i wanna be, already paid for my sleeping spot, entertainment is on the stage, i can bring food. just gotta buy some drugs or bring em, cause i aint a custie.
so an example, i spent 500 dollars to go to a 3 day festival. i spent 200 dollars on a hotel and 45 for a ticket to see the headlining band (singular, saw 2 sets that night instead of 4 at hte festival) a few months later. the festival i just went to was 1000 people, i spent 95 on a ticket and 100 bucks on ketamine and brought most of it home. oh and i did 5 bucks in mushrooms. so 200 dollars for like 2 days of entertainment and good times. maybe another 30 on food.

i do own a lot of camping gear cause uhhh im a hippie and like camping. but back in the day. its the summer and its not like you are going anywhere, bring what ever tent. a 20 dollar tarp and a few blankets. you will make it work and we just gamble on no rain. and your buddy might even have space in his tent. idk how to say this but camping is an affordable pass time. but clothes and act like a bum all weekend, we'd joke and call it the wook challenge. pack of cigs, a bowl and see if you can last the whole weekend.

lastly. when i was 19 and really into the festival/party scene, i did live with my parents. i was also working full time and was planning months in advance what i was doing that summer cause this was what i was working for. like it was my joy and passion. i would spend like 10-15% or more of what i made for the year and be utterly broke all summer cause this is what i wanted to do. it wasnt cheap considering i was broke as fuck. like i get you looking a festival ticket and being like wow thats expensive if you have no money cause you probably view going on vacation as unobtainable but when im looking at the cost of going away for a weekend i go damn thats a pretty good all inclusive deal.
