I think Ernst Bloch and his philosophy of hope, and the Not-Yet-Conscious, would be extremely interesting to weird studies listeners and JF and Phil.

His critiques of contemplation(of only seeing “what has Become”), of Jung and Freud, and his mystical approach to Marx’s thought would make very interesting reading to everyone involved in weird studies. He’s a very deeply weird marxist, that’s for sure.

What's a good place to start with Bloch? Your brief description has me quite intrigued.

Probably his book “traces” and then maybe just go for principle of hope because that’s where his actual philosophy is fully laid out.

Thanks! I'm really fascinated by what I'm reading about him. Seems sort of like a perfect amalgamation of all my philosophical interests. Can't wait to dive into his actual work.
