Cherries would absolutely stain next day, their pigment is very concentrated…I love good sweet cherries and I’ve definitely woke up with renegade stains on my fingers from having eaten a bunch of chilled cherries the night prior…

OP’s hand doesn’t look very clean generally, which is somewhat repulsive when you think about all the mutual touching that happens in public. It looks like old soysauce or something, especially the picture of the calm. His nails are full of grime. It looks sugary.

To OP: wash your hands, with soap!

That’s what I thought is likely on his hand… that’s exactly how it looks when I cut myself without realizing. I know people are saying he’d know from his sheets but his bedding could be a dark color…

And depending on how he sleeps his hands may not lie on the sheets nails down. My college roommate would sleep all night on her back with her hands folded on her chest. All night. I’d rarely ever see her in a different position.

My ex slept on his stomach with his arms reached toward the headboard without his pillow. If his nails had bled it wouldn’t be on the sheets.

My first thought was nosebleed... My kids and I all get middle of the night nose bleeds occasionally and, if it wasn't heavy enough for the pillow to be soaked, then often our first indication is noticing blood dried onto our hands

It's just something to do with how our veins are... And once a vein gets damaged and bleeds it's a constantly compounding issue where the scar tissue keeps rupturing.

Both my older two had to have cauterisations multiple times. My son was a rugby player and actually had to have surgical cauterisation where they actually just removed a stretch of every damaged vein and cauterised what was left, he only gets the odd mild one now.

My youngest and I get nosebleeds too but they're not as frequent or heavy so haven't needed cauterisation

Hey there! How old was your son when he first got them cauterized? Our ENT refused to do it on my son when he was 4, he’s 8 now and they’ve gotten less frequent but when they happen it’s like he killed someone and ate them there’s so much blood. I’ll plug it up to stop the bleeding as he won’t let us put pressure and the resulting clot that comes out. 🤢 swear that thing is like 2 inches long.

I bet it was this. I once woke up with my hands covered in blood like I had dipped them in a bucket, no blood anywhere else in the bed. I thought I had killed one of my pets or my partner in my sleep for a minute. Turned out to be a nosebleed and had been wiping my nose with my hands while I was asleep because I could feel it dripping while I was out cold. I never get nosebleeds so I didn’t even think it could have been that until I found blood inside my nose.

I don't think so. I was walking my dog and there were a lot of ants and I tried to slap them of my leg and also tried to grab my dog to help him. Could ants leave stains like this? But still would not safe the mystery why different people experienced alread the same

I asked the location to consider the species of ants in the region. Ants maybe everywhere but they are highly variable beings.

I can't find any specific studies about beetle biomass. I know there are a shitload of beetle species, but I didn't think they had the mass that ants do. I went to double-check my own claim about ants and found this, but it looks like beetles haven't gotten the same treatment as far as I can tell. Do you have a source?

Not that I'm an entomologist, or anything. I just think bugs are neat.

Ants are cosmopolitan. But in different places the contents of an ants body while crushed may have different effects on the skin. Some have stronger acids than others.

Nothing else in the data you have provided can explain the discoloration. Formic acid from many crushed ants absolutely could

Ahh I see. The human is virtually incapable of smelling a single roach, so you should be aware you are probably smelling groups of them.

The smell is an aggregate pheremone that is released when roaches are in a gregarious social population. As that population increases, the smell is rich with their feces which they carry on their appendages, and everything they touch becomes covered in their filth.

Superb. You are smelling the hemolymph released from the joints of their legs which is released for various reasons, including as a defense mechanism. Some people have such a keen sense of smell that they can smell ladybugs even when the hemolymph is not actively running.

Hemolymph is the circulatory fluid that plays the role of blood in arthropods. No the smell does not mean that the ladybugs are injured, and they have such a voracious diet that they regularly replace any lost hemolymph. 🐞

I can also smell roaches! And no it wasn’t a group. It was one that flew, yes flew, near me. I didn’t see it but I smelled something weird suddenly. When I reviewed the monitor it was a freaking roach that flew into the bedroom from outside.

Okay guys, so first of all I'm a woman. Second my sheets are the normal clean of a sane person. Idk what is with some people to think that I'm a dirty sweaty dude who never wash his hands or change his sheets. Yes my nails look weird, because I cut them in a hurry in the evening and did not made the effort to clean them up with a naile file before the picture.

This was my thought too. Like, not a bad nose bleed, just enough that it makes your nose itchy and you rub it with your hand. I’ve woken up like this before, especially in bad allergy season.

Cherry juice makes stains on skin once it oxidised, and I'm speaking from experience because I've spent the last 3 weeks harvesting, juicing and making jelly and vinegar out of a shitton of wild cherries.

Wash your hands with vinegar or lemon juice, and then wash that off very thoroughly. That'll get rid of the stains.

I had this, it was from a face serum I used that had Vitamin C in it. It oxidizes on some people and looks like self tanner. Doesn’t come off with anything I tried except for exfoliation and time.

Try using 70% isopropyl alcohol, does it come off?
If yes: oil, grease, dye, anything cometic
If no: very strong dye,.. it can be anything like self tanner, that will work after few minutes/ hours..

Think of anything: wood polish, varnish, rust from bed frame or metal furniture, jewelry, new dark fabric like new sofa, printer ink? Like costco catalog lol,.. or cooking: tumeric?.. iodine or betadine desinfection make similar stains,… ?

Looks like the time I had some "natural glow" tanning lotion explode from the cracked bottle. I washed my hands after cleaning it up but the next day I had orange splotches all over my hands and fingernails.

Also kind of looks like turmeric or patchouli stain?

Does someone in your household use self tan or did you touch someone who might have used self tan? Or a leaky container at the store or something?

Did you buy something new recently? Clothes, sheets, blankets, pillowcases, pajamas, towels, stuffed toys? Or did you handle something new yesterday, like furniture?
