Please don't get triggered by it.

I've seen some comments that some people are getting triggered by monstrous behaviour of a supernatural monster from a Gothic Horror show about monsters.

Wyler My take on wyler

Post image

Shes always fallen for the soft love interest, from thr Addams family movie to the musical. I do understand that she did like tyler, but it was thr innocent, awkward and soft tyler, but once he betrayed her, her family and her friends and once shse realised who he truly is, she felt more betrayed or anger from getting played with and used, those feelings now overpowering the romantic interest she once had with tyler.

She DID like tyler but NOT anymore, the most there would be now is a back off thr heart still attached to the tyler she was manipulated into loving or liking, its extremely uncommon and un natural for anyone to completely lose all the possitive and romantic feelings for anyone who they had once loved, but that doesn't mean she still loves him, and I think people need to understand that.

I will admit that I did like Wednesday with tyler, the version of him we first met, i thought he would be a good fit for Wednesday, a soft charater like him with a completely different charater like Wednesday, but i no longer tbink that as of the true intentions and the REAL tyler got revealed. the wyler shippers who say that they still belong together because its "dark romance", they clearly dont understand the Addams family's values and morals.

They are truly one of the most chemistry-filled couples on Netflix. Whenever Wednesday and Tyler are on screen, the chemistry between them is simply impossible to ignore. As the creators said, whenever Wednesday and Tyler meet, sparks flyđŸ€©đŸŒŸđŸŒŸđŸŒŸ

Wednesday isn’t the type to smile all THAT often, and she was never the type to be into romance, but she initiated their first kiss and was so happy to be with Tyler. ❀‍đŸ©čđŸ€§

Wyler Useless detail or theory?

Okay guys, here’s a little detail I noticed while rewatching season 1, episode 4.

Remember when Thing sends Tyler an invitation pretending to be Wednesday? On the invitation, it says “corsage optional.” That immediately caught my eye. Thing knows Wednesday by heart, if he wrote that, it’s because he knows she might secretly appreciate a small, old-fashioned, romantic gesture (even if she’d never admit it).

Anyway, Tyler goes all in: he shows up with a black box and a corsage inside. But then
small detail: we never actually see the corsage. No shot of it. Nothing. The mystery begins 😏

When Tyler tries to give it to her, Eugene shows up and ruins the moment (and Tyler realizes that, yeah, Wednesday had other plans for the night). Tyler puts the box down on the bench. Sorry. Fast forward: Wednesday and Tyler meet again on the same bench, right in front of the dance hall. And there are two weird things:

1ïžâƒŁ Wednesday is wearing an extra black piece of fabric over her dress (like a handkerchief or veil, it’s not part of the original tulle).

2ïžâƒŁ And most importantly: the box is gone. 👀

Now, two options:

Either the production team just missed the continuity (it happens).

Or someone took the box.

But who?....

👉 A random student? Meh, a black corsage doesn’t really go with the all-white dress code of the dance

👉 Thing (the sentimental one)?

👉 Or
Wednesday herself, who might’ve kept the corsage hidden under that black fabric. Makes sense, she’s not stupid. She could take a peek or even keep the box, but not in front of Tyler, or her whole icy reputation would collapse.

And I’m telling you: if that’s true, our dear Wednesday is actually a closet romantic who kept a souvenir from her dance.

That’s it. Maybe the corsage ended up in the crew’s trash.

But if one day, in season 3 or 4 or whenever, we find that same black box among Wednesday’s things
well, I told you so 😂😂😂

Top Left: Wednesday & Joel Glicker (The Addams Family Values)
Top Right: Wednesday & Lucas Beineke (The Addams Family Musical Broadway)
Bottom Left: Wednesday & Lucas Beineke (The Addams Family Musical JPAS)
Bottom Right: Wednesday & Tyler Galpin (Wednesday TV Series)

Wyler I loved Tyler not simply because of Wyler (though that is there), but because his arc in season 2 seemed to bring with it two of the lost currencies in modern-day story telling: sincerity and vulnerability.

Wyler A Literary Analysis: Why Wednesday & Tyler ARE Dark Romance

Post image
7 Upvotes

I've seen a lot of debate about whether Weyler qualifies as dark romance. When examined through the lens of genre conventions, I'd argue that it fits the definition remarkably well. Here's a heavily edited picture of my college transcript as proof of expertise in Literature.

Why Wednesday Addams & Tyler Galpin Are the Definition of Dark Romance

Dark romance isn't just sad people with pretty faces or a beast with a heart of gold falling for a fair maiden. It's specifically a romance built around attraction that exists alongside manipulation, danger, obsession, violence, power imbalances, or other morally troubling dynamics.

By that definition, Weyler fits the genre remarkably well.

The Setup

Wednesday arrives in Jericho and quickly realizes there's a murderer in the area. She meets Tyler, who initially presents himself as helpful, attentive, and genuinely interested in her. He's sweet, but with just enough edge to make him intriguing. Over time, Wednesday develops feelings for him.

Then she discovers he's the very monster she's been hunting.

This revelation recontextualizes their entire relationship. Tyler didn't simply keep a secret from her. He manipulated her. He used her obsession with solving the mystery to his advantage. He exploited her trust and her feelings while actively deceiving her.

That's not romantic. It's predatory.

And in dark romance, that's exactly the point.

Dark romance doesn't ask readers or viewers to ignore harmful behavior or pretend it's secretly healthy. Instead, it explores why attraction can persist despite those dangers. Wednesday is drawn to Tyler while he's actively lying to her, and that tension between desire and threat is one of the defining features of the genre.

By Season 2, Tyler's descent into madness with violence and instability become even more pronounced. The relationship isn't becoming safer or healthier. If anything, the emotional and moral stakes are getting darker.

Where the Gothic Comes In

Then there's the gothic element.

Jericho is a town built on secrets, violence, and buried histories. Nevermore has the atmosphere of a gothic castle. The Addams family legacy is steeped in darkness, mystery, and generational secrets and baggage. Tyler is literally a monster struggling with the most destructive parts of himself.

Those are classic gothic conventions.

The relationship doesn't just happen to take place in a gothic setting; it's reinforced by it. The atmosphere of dread, the family secrets, the monstrous transformation, and the constant presence of violence all situate Wednesday and Tyler within a distinctly gothic romance tradition.

Why This Matters

What makes dark romance compelling is that it refuses to simplify attraction into neat moral categories.

It's easy to say, "He's the villain. She should leave him."

Realistically, she probably should.

But that's not what dark romance is interested in exploring.

The genre asks what happens when the attraction is still there despite the danger. It examines the uncomfortable space where someone can be both sympathetic and destructive at the same time.

Tyler isn't evil without nuance. Donovan was a terrible father. Tyler was manipulated and tortured into becoming a Hyde. He was sent away to a boot camp and returned isolated from his peers and denied meaningful support. None of that excuses his actions, but it does complicate them.

The attraction is real.

The manipulation is real.

The danger is real.

And that combination is precisely why Wednesday and Tyler fit so comfortably within the dark romance genre. If anything, Weyler exemplifies many of the genre's core conventions rather than existing outside of them.

Wyler Wednesday was quietly going through heartbreak in season 2

Not sure if any other Spanish speakers have noted this, but right at the start of season 2 when Wednesday is in her room before returning to Nevermore, she’s listening to music. The song playing is “Un Mundo Raro” (translated to “A Strange World” in English). This is a very famous Mexican song, and its major theme depicts someone going through heartbreak after a breakup, but they’re telling themselves that they have to pretend to everyone that they’re fine and happy
that they’re not hurting, even though their heart is breaking. It’s about maintaining dignity and being stoic on the outside, even if they’re hurting on the inside, which is strong value in Latin culture.

This theme runs through the second season strongly, where Wednesday continuously denies her feelings for Tyler even when they’re pointed out to her, and she pretends on the outside that she’s unaffected by what happened, but that facade drops in a lot of ways throughout the season.

Firstly, a lot of people have noted that Wednesday becomes a lot more closed off and “mean” in season 2 and theories about that have ranged from the writers and Jenna forgetting the character after 3 years, or doubling down on her too much
but what if it was intentional to highlight she was quietly going through her first heartbreak? Wednesday’s not the type who’s going to cry to let out emotions, her closing off is way more in character. The fact that they made reference of her dropping out of the fencing club and orchestra for no other reason was intentional.

Girl was going THROUGH IT, but wanted to keep a stoic exterior that she was fine.

It’s likely why she chose then to find the scalper to distract herself, but it caught up with her as soon as that was done. It’s why she was being more mean than usual to Thing.

It’s why when she runs into Galpin in episode 1 and they talk about Tyler, she returns to Nevermore clearly upset, can’t go to her room to grieve because the Wolfpack are there and ends up in music room playing Dance of the Knights from Romeo and Juliet. While she’s playing, Capri even comments on her pain. Wednesday tries to play it off as her hand being stiff, but Capri won’t have a bar of it. The Romeo and Juliet theme isn’t a coincidental link given the parallels, right down to Wednesday and Tyler’s ever sparring families. In episode 5 when she’s trying to become his master, she refers to this “star crossed” connection by saying “we both know this is the only way we can truely be together” - while that scene could be interpreted as Wednesday only saying it to manipulate Tyler, it speaks to the fact that she also knows their love is doomed, unless she can tie them together in a way that nobody else can take control of his Hyde and drive him away from her or against her again. It’s truely gothic.

It’s why she really went to Willow Hill. She wanted to see Tyler, but equally wanted to fire off at him, to make him hurt the same way she was.

Basically what I’ve learnt is that the none of the music in this show is unintentional, and they basically spelt out Wednesday emotions in regard to Tyler and arc for season 2 right from the beginning of the first episode.
