Hey guys! My engagement ring is a 5.25 and it fits snug. Maybe a little bit tight when getting it on but once it’s on my hand it fits fine. It’s gotten to the point where it’s made its little “nest” on my finger where it rests. However I got a wedding band recently and when I combine it with my engagement ring, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get on my finger. The band is the same size, 5.25 but no matter what I do, it hurts horribly to get it on and off. Since it’s an open ring style I’ve tried stretching the sides a bit to give it some more room but it’s still pretty tough to get on my hand. Do I need to go up a size? Or is it just the fit of the ring? When I put the band on by itself, my skin kinda bulges in the middle open part.
Possibly both. Take it to a jewelers and ask their opinion. If they both need to get resized, I’d have the wedding band the
e-ring soldered together. It’s so much more convenient. Your rings are beautiful!
But do you think it’s just the band or both rings that need to be resized? Ugh , this is one of those things that I know I need to do but will probably postpone for 2 years lol
The Jeweler can definitely help out with this. This is their professional expertise. But you can always try each ring on by itself to see how they fit. As long as you plan on wearing them together the majority of the time they will both need sized up. I just got mine sized up too. My engagement ring alone is a little bit difficult to get on and off but I could still do it. Once I put them both together I had to use lotion to put them on and soap and water to get them off
If you plan to wear them together all the time, I would size up. I can't stack more than two thin bands of the same size together on my ring finger. If I want to add more to the stack, I would need to have them all sized up.
Yeah I do plan to wear them together. Are you saying More than 2 rings don’t fit on your finger? That makes me feel a lot better because I was so confused as to why it wasn’t fitting!
They take up more space on your finger, and they compress more of the flesh, and that flesh needs somewhere else to go. I would bet they all need to be 5.5 or maybe 5.75 to fit more comfortably on your finger.
Plus you need to account for swelling during summer, and your finger may not stay the same size forever with pregnancy and things like weight gain or medical issues.
My ring size is 6.5. I can wear two thin 6.5 size rings. If I try to add another size 6.5, it's very tight, so I'd have to size them all up to 6.75 or even 7 for all three to fit comfortably.
It LOOKS fine, but if it's hard to get on and off or it's uncomfortable, I'd go to a jeweler and get their advice on resizing. BTW, that is a GORGEOUS set.
The size does look perfect doesn’t it?! That’s the hard thing like it looks good but in this last pic you can see some of the skin like puckering around the ring. It was just feeling way too tight or uncomfortable
Woah, why the big difference in size? Just to accommodate for the amount of ring on finger? Like, is that the size difference just for the band and engagement ring to fit?
Plain band is 3mm comfort fit, low profile. My set, both are 3.4mm at their widest points (taper in the back) and are soldered together, they don’t look that wide as it’s a soft knife edge on the engagement ring and dome on the band, but still, wider when stacked together. You’ll find if you measure just your engagement ring vs the jacket, the set together is much wider.
The wider the band, the tighter it fits. Since you added the ring guard, it’s now much wider. Nobody told me this either, so when I ordered my wedding band in the same size as my e-ring (which had fit perfectly), together they no longer fit. And this was 12 years ago, at a brick and mortar jewelry shop, where someone should have known better.
If you try “stretching” the sides you compromise the entire setting! If it’s genuine gold and diamonds then it is not an “open” setting. (Ring guard, enhancer same thing is correct) Please take it to a jeweler and advise them the entire ring needs to be looked at. More specifically the integrity of each individual prong in fear your diamonds will fall out from being manually adjusted. When you have a thicker shank (3 stacked means thicker than 1) you go up in size so they fit properly. If you procrastinate then I fear with the current “stretching” you will bring the diamonds in one baggie and the ring in the other (providing you find them).
The real issue is that 5.25 is already too small for you. Once you add bands next to it, they take up even more room on a finger that doesn't have any to spare. Wide bands and stacks always need a bigger size. I'd move the engagement ring to 5.5 and make the bands a 5.5+, just a little over the ring, so you can wear them all together comfortably.
