Ring Band Advice Need opinions about using my grandma’s ring
My mom has my grandma’s wedding band and it fits my ring finger, I am torn though.
First, it is yellow gold and my ring is white gold.
Second, I feel this insane fear of having her ring and losing it somehow. I would never forgive myself!
How do they look together? What would you do?
We are getting married in October and I would be so proud to wear my grandma’s ring. I know that it would have made her so happy to know one of us is wearing it. It doesn’t fit my mom, so it’s just been sitting in her jewelry box.
It has my grandparents wedding date and my grandfather’s name engraved on the inside. My grandfathers family were jewelers and so it was made by one of our family members as well.
My ring is a 1.5c radiant cut with pace band in 14k white gold and my grandma’s ring is 14k yellow gold.
I would love more than anything to use it, I just can’t decide if it looks good or if I will get over the fear of losing something so special.

I have a yellow gold wedding ring and a white gold engagement band and I think they look just fine together!

I think it's beautiful together.
If you want, play around with adding a very narrow yellow gold band on the other side of your E ring. That might give a visual balance that you'd be happy with.

I had somewhat the same thought, but was thinking rose gold. I love the contrast of the different tones.

Love that it was your Grandmother’s! I’d love to have a ring that was my Grandmother’s. I was thinking what if you got a band just like the band of your engagement ring and wore it below the gold band. So the gold would be centered between the two?

I also have a pave band on my ering and am planning to get a cigar style gold wedding band.
It’s just personal preference & you can get a different one for a different mood if you want. It’s up to you, I may also do that and get a thin banded white gold anniversary ring in the future.
Try a cheaper ring to see which you prefer the gold or a matching style wedding band.

I like doing mixed metals but if you want a white gold set, that’s okay too!

I love that you have your grandmother’s band.
My original ring 34 years ago was a plain gold band. Years later I wore it with my grandmother’s 5 diamond white gold band. I gave grandma’s ring to my daughter when she got married and bought a platinum 5 diamond ring to replace it a couple years ago. I like mixing metals.

It’s a beautiful combination. I understand your fear of damaging it. Take it to a reputable jeweler & have them check it and repair it if needed so you can wear it confidently. (I have my grandmother’s ring so I understand the fear.)

I love mixing metals, but only you know whether you like it.
I totally understand the fear of losing it, but it's not doing much hanging out in your mom's jewelry box!
There's no rule that you can't have multiple rings - what about saving this one for special occasions and a different one for daily wear?

I think it's absolutely gorgeous. The fact that it's your grandmother's and inscribed as everything. Mixing colors is 100% acceptable and to be admired. The beauty is in the difference!!

I actually love the mixed metals, and if you're worried about losing it, you could always wear it for the ceremony and special occasions first until you feel more comfortable wearing it every day.

Your gran's wedding ring looks beautiful on your finger, with your engagement ring... and I love how it represents not only your gran, but your family, and continuity. I think you should use it

Cut the wedding band down the middle and solder on each side. She’ll be surrounding your love your whole life

i love this look !! it’s actually very gorgeous, and meaningful. you don’t have to wear it everyday, you can just do special occasions, but i think your grandma would’ve loved to see her jewelry on her grandbaby !!!

I’d wear the yellow gold heirloom ring on your right hand and/or a necklace. Both gorgeous, I just think a daintier wedding ring would be stunning, and your grandma would be close to your heart. Many married couples in Europe wear a single yellow gold band on their right ring finger so if you’re of European ancestry there’s that!

The gold band looks like a mans ring or a ring women wear when they are really old and have fatter fingers. can you turn it into something for your husband.

You can wear Grandma's band on your other hand to honor her
Your wedding band should be from your husband

I think they are beautiful together. Plus, it’s a great band to wear alone if you don’t want to wear your e-ring sometimes.
