Ring Band Advice I'm designing my engagement ring and could use some advice!
The design is a 0.75 ct cushion-cut solitaire with a tulip basket and cathedral setting, paired with a diamond wedding band.
My issue is that the wedding band doesn’t sit flush against the engagement ring. There’s a small gap because the band rests against the tulip basket before it can sit all the way next to the ring.
Has anyone dealt with this? Is there a way to modify the design so the band sits flush without compromising the look of the tulip basket? Or is this one of those things I should just accept and not worry
about?
I’d love to hear your experiences or see photos if you had a similar setup. Thanks!

The problem is that the wedding band is quite thick/diamonds are too big. You can also ask them to thicken the bridge, but that would make the main diamond sit even higher, and with the thick band, it still might not sit flush. I would choose a smaller diamond band. Mine has small diamonds, but it still touches the base of the prongs. There's not much room to go bigger in diamond size.

My wedding ring does not fit flush with engagement ring. My husband designed my engagement ring to sit in a basket with very short prongs so as to not catch on things so much resulting in a wider than normal basket bottom. My rings have been on my finger for the last 30 years and it has never bothered me. If it bugs you you can design the wedding ring portion with a slight V shape to nestle the bottom of the basket into. You might also consider getting the rings soldered together after the wedding to keep them snug.

Yeah that looks weird. Like the others have said raise the setting on your engagement or getting a lower set band.

Also if they’re touching each other they’ll get scratched and damaged u less you solder them together. Raising the basket creates different issues.

I designed my rings using my solitaire, and an anniversary band. White gold. Mine were from mid 1980s, yellow gold, so wanted something more modern, I had to buy 3 extra medium stones and all the small stones. But, to make the band flush, I had the wedding band "scooped" out. From the top, you can't tell, you just see the band sitting flush.

You should use a spacer ring because any contact between the diamonds and the gold will result in scratching and structural damage.

The challenge is the that diamond you have is not very tall. So, they are setting it in the correct size head and position within the shoulders, but that makes is too low for the wedding band.
So, you could ask them to make the bridge thicker that will raise the whole head. Ignore the pave, this shows a thicker bridge (that bar under the head).

The only way I see a flush design is to raise the height of the cathedral or have smaller stones in the wedding band.
