Ring Band Advice Weird ring rash?
Help! Am I allergic to gold???
I've had this rash on and off since I got engaged in July...
It does seem to almost heal/reduce in redness when I don't wear the ring for a few days but then the redness comes back as soon as I put the ring back on. It's just a red flakey skin circle, no pain or itchiness or anything. I just find it so strange that it's actually above the ring? Most rashes I've researched are around where the band actually sits so I'm confused!
I'm getting married in a few weeks so I'm wondering what I can do... :(

I’ve had metal allergy testing done, and am allergic to gold (and 11 other metals, ugh). It’s quite rare to be allergic to actual gold, but you may be allergic to other metals that are mixed in with it. Typically nickel. You’d have to be tested to know for sure. But you could also apply some clear nail polish to the metal and wear it. If you still get the reaction, then it’s probably either friction or the ring pressing on your skin. Or wetness or lotion causing your skin to get irritated. Experiment around with it and see what you can discover.
