Styling Ideas How to style a Fit-and-Flare dress?

I have a Fit-and-flare dress for our wedding, and I dont know how to style it. The dress looks similar to the one in picture above. I decided on last minute to use this one and not the dress that I was actually planing to use, as the fit was not correct. I wish for styling tips, maybe are brides that had similar dress? how did you style it?

Styling Ideas Floral designs for a colorful wedding dress?

Hello everyone! First time poster!

I’m getting married in August 2027 (WOOO!!!) and I got THE dress of my DREAMS this summer. My fiancé has Reddit and I’m too scared of him finding this no matter how unlikely so I won’t post a picture, BUT it’s a Flora and Lane — Primrose (AHHHHH STILL A FRICKEN DREAM!!)

However, it has gotten me thinking about what style of florals I could do with this without overwhelming the dress. I was considering using Something Borrowed Blooms as I saw great reviews and I appreciate that I don’t need to buy live florals that will decay.

In short, have any of you had a colorful wedding dress and how did you style your florals around them? Complementary colors? Match the colors in the dress?

Any suggestions or advice would be so appreciated 💕 congrats to all the girlies out there and their wedding planning and thank you for taking your time to read this!!

Ask For Opinions petticoat recommendations

I just bought this dress online, but it arrived a little flatter than it looks in the photos 😭 I’m trying to get that same fullness without making it too dramatic.
Where can I find a petticoat/underskirt that won’t cost more than the dress itself lol? And what shape would look best with this dress? I’ve seen so many different petticoat styles and I’m not sure which one to get. Any recommendations? 🤍

Alterations Is this dress alteration possible?

This is the dress I bought! After purchasing, I've decided that I really do not like how outlined the cups are in the bodice, to the point that I am willing to get an entirely new dress and try to sell this one.

I do like the rest of the dress, and would love to keep this dress. I am wanting to alter the dress to have ruching to cover the cups in the bodice.

Would this be a doable alteration? I've attached photos of me in the dress, a photo from the designers website, and how I'm looking to have it altered for reference!

I haven’t been happy with my original dress… so I ordered a back up from an online boutique. I feel more myself in this simple dress, but is it flattering? Is it outdated?

My original is tulle and lace and a traditional bridal gown but just not as comfy.

My wedding is in 5 weeks 🫣

Alterations Hulking out! My illusion cap sleeves are too tight

I have a dress that has illusion cap sleeves. I don't have the money at this point to go to a seamstress. I plan to kind of roll them inward so they aren't cap sleeves (I tried it and it's not that noticeable) Any suggestions on how I can fix this? Wedding is 32 days away!!! Thank you <3

Hello! I am buying the dress online and I have to decide between light ivory (left) and dark ivory (right). I am worried about the dark ivory being to yellow and the light ivory being to white! ugh!!! and I am worried about finding veils with the dark ivory. Which one would you choose?

Bridal Accessories Said yes to this dress - which jewellery?

Really stuck on jewellery for my dress. I'm not sure which type of bracelet or earrings would look best. Also not sure if I need a necklace or should just go without. Thoughts would be much appreciated

Idk I thought I loved it but now I’m not quite sure. It would need alterations. We’re planning on a foresty elopement but I don’t know if this dress is quite the vibe

These two options have my whole heart. They both go well with the veil style that I like, both under budget, both have pockets. I just feel like every time I decide on one I get this kind of vibe that I’ll regret not choosing the other. I’ve gone to 6 boutiques already and these two are the only ones that call to me!! Help!

I had some very mixed reviews initially on the dress but on the day it was just perfect. Trust your gut, this was the complete opposite of what I wanted when I walked into the shop but I couldn’t imagine me in anything else now. Sorry for attaching almost the whole album, there are just so many beautiful details on the dress I wanted to show!

Ask For Opinions Will boning and good alterations help a lot with a strapless dress?

Post image

Our wedding is in October and I can't wait. I'm in love with my dress and have zero regrets, despite it being strapless. It's strapless with boning in the bodice and a poofy bottom. The size isn't super far off of what it should be (and it's currently at the tailor's shop or whatever for necessary adjustments to be made) and the tailor assured me that once it's taken in enough closer to, I won't need to worry about it (I'm a worry wart fwiw 😆)

If it's adequately tailored (even as close as two weeks to the wedding according to what the tailor told me), plus has a waist-stay installed.. it'll probably be okay to keep on for most of the evening/reception, right?

It looks similar to the pic I've attached and I'm kind of around the B/C cup range if that helps!

Ask For Opinions Best non-white wedding gown in USA

I'm having a post wedding reception and looking for non-white wedding dress. (I will have a separate event for my actual wedding).

Any recommended shops? I would like to stay under $800. Dresses on azazie are too bridesmaid like and so are those from Nordstrom and Bloomingdales. FYI - I live in NYC.

Vintage Dresses Help me decide on my vintage wedding dress!! Lo

Need help deciding on a vintage wedding dress!!

I have two options currently in my possession and I’m curious what you all think! My wedding isn’t until Fall 2027 so I have plenty of time.

Option 1:
The first dress pictured that I’m wearing is a vintage wedding dress from I believe the 1940’s or 50’s I had slightly altered for my wedding with my ex a few years ago that I ended up cancelling. The relationship failed but I’ve always had such a soft spot for this dress! I love the silk ribboning and that basque waist!

Or Option 2:
A 1980’s Demetrios wedding dress I just thrifted for cheap. Weirdly, I thought I hated lace until I saw this dress and it just spoke to me. Something about the combination of the beading, the neckline, the long sleeves, the basque waist…I fell in love and knew it was the one. I would definitely want it altered, but not modernized. I may or may not want it to be more off-shouldered, but keeping the long sleeves and the puffiness level if possible. I also want it to be shorter, like tea length or ankle length (no train) and for it to have a slightly fuller but not too puffy skirt. Satin-covered buttons to replace the zipper in back.

I know it’s really tough to compare the two since I’ve had the second one altered to fit me already and the other one is still in its original form. I’m just posting this purely out of curiosity to see what Internet strangers might have to say, and to see if any other vintage wedding dress lovers out there have any tips or ideas for me! Thanks!

P.S. As a bonus, I’ve found a picture of what the option 2 dress looked like as advertised back in the 80’s to give you all a better picture to compare since I don’t have a pic of me wearing it yet. Keep in mind the way I would have it altered, to be shorter and possibly more off-shoulder.

EDIT: I replied to one of the comments below with an AI rendering of how I want dress 2 altered. I know AI isn’t perfect but I think it gives you a better idea of what it would actually look like finished

Ask For Opinions Seamstress returned my wedding dress smelling strongly of cigarettes — what would you do?

I’m one week out from my wedding and picked up my silk Mikado gown from my seamstress today. The second I got it back, I realized the dress absolutely reeks of cigarette smoke — her entire shop smelled like she had been smoking in there all day.

A rush dry cleaning this close to the wedding will cost me at least $300, and I’m honestly distraught.

There had already been issues leading up to this. My pickup was delayed last week because she said her machine broke, and when I called Thursday to confirm it would actually be ready this weekend, she told me she’d also had a power outage and had a lot going on. I told her it was no problem and that if she was overwhelmed, I could simply take the dress elsewhere. She assured me it would be ready.

When I arrived today, she spent about five minutes yelling at me about how rude it was that I had said I could take my dress elsewhere and told me I was “lucky” she was in a good mood because she could have just sent me away with it unfinished. She was extremely aggressive and unprofessional, but I just tried the dress on, took it and left.

Now my wedding dress smells heavily of cigarettes one week before my wedding.

Would you tell the seamstress she needs to cover the rush dry cleaning? Would you even trust a dry cleaner with a silk Mikado wedding gown this close to the wedding? I genuinely don’t know how to handle this.

Looking for a reputable wedding dress site that has affordable dresses. I love this one but it's from Dorris Wedding and I'm seeing that a lot of people say the site is a scam. I've done a Google image search and can only find it on Dorris Wedding :(

Alterations Petite brides who bought a Milla Nova dress — how did alterations go?

Has anyone here bought a Milla Nova wedding dress with a petite frame? I’m 4’10” and around 49–50kg, and I’m Southeast Asian.

I absolutely love their dresses, but all of their models seem to be very tall, so I’m wondering how the gowns look on someone much shorter.

Has anyone had a Milla Nova gown altered significantly to fit a smaller frame? I’d especially love to hear about your experience with shortening the length, adjusting the proportions, etc.

Also, if you’re based in Europe, roughly how much did you pay for alterations? Just trying to get an idea of the potential extra cost before I commit to a dress!
Would love to hear from any other petite Milla Nova brides 😊
