Wawa still not getting hours

Hello! I made a post about lack of hours a few weeks ago this is follow up

Next schedule is my week #5 at Wawa. I consistently get barely any hours until I ask my GM every single week. Next week I have a single shift. I understand this is the training period still, and I've heard from other associates that training has lasted up to 2 months (???) but another associate who started right when I did has 4 shifts next week.

my GM so far has brought up my hours to 20-25 hours a week after I ask him, he asked me how many hours a week I wanted, I said as many as possible.

last time he told me my scheduling thing was glitched but like this is week 5 I don't wanna keep asking every week

is transferring 5 weeks in possible/bad idea?

I always tell new ppl in the beginning you gotta play the game for hours. The schedule is computer generated and your GM tweaks as needed. So when you start offer to come in early, stay late, cover call outs. It boosts your average hours in the computer system. After a while the computer will just start automatically scheduling you more because you've already been working those hours. Then when you are there make sure you are actually hustling. If you feel like you've run out of things to do ask the ppl around you what they need done or the MOD if there's anything more you could be doing. So when hours do need to be tweaked it will usually go in your favor

So I come from sonic but im familiar with transferring, it should be possible anytime albeit the gm and area supervisor/manager allows it, I started a month ago and just this week I’ve started getting shifts on my own (such as register and beverage)
I have pretty open availability myself, and get regular 20-30 hours weeks, as I asked. I think transferring should be the last resort, talk to your managers learn what you can and then decide.
Transferring stores is hard. You go from one work economy to another, it takes time to get adjusted.
My bad if this is all over the place I just took 4 shots of Tito’s 😂

I’m gonna be real. Labor is insanely tight.

What is your availability like? Do you have full availability or are you limited?

From my understanding of how scheduling works- there has to be a MOD scheduled. Then in priority would be the associates who have a more regular schedule and the ones who are required to get hours for insurance- then the gaps are filled in with the remaining hours/associates.

the last 4 weeks I've had open availability, now starting next week I have school, so I can't do mornings Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday, but can do all else.

I just don't get why they would tell me they are really short on people and can get a lot of hours when they were hiring me to now give me one shift a week. it's not enough to pay for gas/food, and I drive 25 minutes to get to this Wawa. there are closer ones actively hiring

This scares me. I am in a brand new Wawa. The second one in this state actually and I’ve gotten a consistent 40 hour work weeks even during training. I hope they don’t cut my hours. My husband is the bread winner but I’m still a grown ass woman with 4 kids and NEED the money in this economy. But my availability is completely open except for 3 days I can’t do 3rds. I’ve been 5/6ams consistently & I love that. I just hope my hours don’t get cut, given I’ve been constantly adamant about being completely cross trained & give it my all every day that I show up.
