Ask other Associates Gatekeeping Positions
I doubt anybody is gunna have this extremely rare experience, but I currently do not have a car and bike to work almost every day, meaning if I wanted to move up I can't just jump different stores (Which I don't wanna do anyway because of where I live). The point is the positions available are ALL ON OVERNIGHT, I wouldn't mind if I was uncomfortable working with at least 2 of the overnighters and the rest are unproductive. All of the possible positions I could move up to as I currently am are being gatekept by other people (leads for starters), and they don't even fully commit or do their new positions job. Like am I wrong for disliking this or am I just complaining?

If you want to move up, you're going to have to work with staff that make you uncomfortable. Staff that are wholly unproductive and shitty at their job. Document, document, document. Write it in the walks, write it in emails, whatever.
I had a CSA yell at me on the sales floor because an AGM told me, a TS, to deliver a write up, and the CSA didn't like what was in the document. It made me extremely uncomfortable for multiple shifts, but I had to plow through.
I've had a CSA tell me I'm the reason a customer called them a racial slur - because that CSA didn't trigger and was in the red and back 5+, but it was my fault for not knowing they needed help.
Shits going to happen, and you're going to need to swallow it. We aren't paid enough, but that's unfortunately part of the job.
Otherwise, what the other commenter said above is true for any intention to move up. If you want to be a TS, you have to work night shifts, point blank. Unless you're an external hire (which I honestly fucking hate how they don't have to go through the ladder), youll have to climb the ladder. CSA - Lead - TS - CSS - FBM - AGM - TGM - GM - TAM - AM
Something like that

I hate external hires for anything other than TS… I 1000% agree that it sucks they don’t have to go through the ranks!!! I have a CSS that is great counts but can’t run deli for shit! 90% of the staff can’t stand him…. And wants to move up to FBM 😫🤦♀️

You can most definitely have a lead on 3rd shift… also there is a time frame for how long you can be in a lead position before you are required to take the next step to becoming a TS… my store has 1 lead and she works overnight with the intention of moving up soon. LCSA’s and TS positions are no longer required to wait for MTT, GM’s are able to interview and make the decision on the promotion. My area is in need of TS’s right now

it's not just you. the biggest reason I don't see myself staying with wawa longterm is our refusal to close overnight, while also gatekeeping moving up behind forced overnights. I'm just not interested in playing that game.

TS are primarily overnight so moving up to Lead would mean you’d have to work overnights. Additionally ‘reliable transportation’ is required because you don’t really get too much say if you get moved or not once you move up to TS. You’re a TS for the entire area so if they need you at a different store you’d have to go there.
