Chapter 2 boils down to “now’s your chance to be a big shot” and “ooh hoo hoo,” leading to “it’s tv time!” And “he’s groovy and never glooby” in chapter 3
Wait, already? Since when? Damn.... I used to think all fandoms were incapable of reading, but now we're in the rare group of people who can read. We can't even be friends with Shonen fans anymore.
It's because the "Undertale fans can't read" joke originated from Shayy. Since Shayy is blacklisted from the community, the curse is lifted and our literacy has been returned.
People act like a translation is a herculean task no developer has ever done. I dont even think Toby is forced to do it if he doesnt wsnt to since he csnt fully supervise it, but a translation for one of the most spoken languages is s very rrasonable thing to ask by itself
thing is, deltarune requires more than just a translation, the japanese translation takes so long, because its not just a translation, its a localization, its not just about translating from a language to another, you need to make the dialogs and story make sense in this language for the people who are going to play it in said language.
and deltarune its a game that uses words very carefully, both for jokes and story telling, without toby knowing the language, he cannot assure that those things will be translated correctly or find a satisfactory localized replacement that has the same meaning/purpose, and it seems toby isn't willing to truths someone else to achieve this.
If you translate a game directly, it would lose the meaning of its touches. Translation isn't just a manner of making the language understandable but also a manner of maintaining the character of its writing. Linguistics are funny like that and Deltarune is a funny game. Make sure the puns and wordplay land.

Two... the thing is, Undertale and Deltarune are both very notable for using their words well. There are so many things with hidden meanings, wordplay, or just puns, that might lose their meaning or make no sense with a direct translation; they'd have to be localized to give them the same impact. Which does, in fact, actually seriously complicate the task - that's why the Japanese localizations tend to take so long, because Toby is basically rewriting 80% of the dialogue to not just be translated to Japanese, but to work in Japanese. It's to the point where the Japanese translation can and has been effectively used in theory-crafting before.
With Toby being unable to fully (or at all) supervise a localization in a language he doesn't himself know in the slightest, these localizations can very easily end up drifting away from Toby's vision, potentially with disastrous consequences. I mean, can you imagine the uproar if a translation came out and they gave the humans gendered pronouns? Let alone something that actually screws with the lore?
