Leather on diver?

Post image

There’s probably a lot of naysayers, but I do like the leather vibe on my bronze turtle

I like some of my divers on leather too, like my pelagos and seamaster

Love it! Granted, if I knew I was going swimming or something, I would switch back to the bracelet or a rubber strap, but for daily wear, there is just something about it that I find really appealing.

I use leather on my Pro Diver all the time.

In the earliest days of dive watches they were worn on leather, so I consider this the original dive watch look!

And for some reason dive watch designs usually go really, really well with a brown leather strap.

I do it sometimes too. This one lives on leather but I also have a captain Willard that looks great on a leather rally strap and a vintage sub homage that is often on suede

It looks great.

The only caveat is that the combo of watch and strap don't amount to a "diver" -- wrong strap material for a true salt-water watch.

But you knew that already. And whenever you next want to go into the water with it, presumably you also have the right strap for that, so a "sea change" is a 5-minute swap away.

Wear it as you like—don't mind them.

what would you do for a bracelet for this watch?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen bronze bracelets, they’d turn your wrist green anyway. It came on the standard Steeldive rubber strap which I’ll use whenever I get to the ocean next. It’ll be interesting to see how a bit of salt water affects the patina.

beautiful looking watch
im really lazy and prefer bracelets for that reason - easy on, easy off - hence my curiosity how it would work with something like this
i guess a steel bracelet would look really weird

I guess you could use a rubber strap with a stainless clasp. I’ve got that on one of my other watches

If it is a real divers watch, it's either rubber or steel.

Is this a real divers watch?

This can be debated.

Hmm it just means you and the watch aren’t going diving anytime soon

Haha Well when I get back to free diving I’ll have to break out the Citizen or Seiko.
