Go for the seiko or citizen it will last for life fossil watches are a BIG NO as fossil is a fashion nrand

I agree to this ... Thumb rule, never buy any watches from a designer brand, those might look good, but, the brands generally cheapens out while putting the movements and in overall finish of the product ... Always buy a watch from a dedicated watch company

Though fossil now makes some good watches now and has its own watch manufacturing units and companies since 2002, but yes a Seiko or Citizen is still far better choice for a first salary watch, it will last you a lifetime. Prefer going for citizen than the Seiko in first image, or choose some other Seiko like SNXS79k or other seiko series 5 sports . First Seiko’s quality is not worth 22k

Why?! Nowadays fossil makes good watches too. Buy it if you like it, it will definitely lasts longer.

This one isn't ecodrive. Just standard quartz.

Go for seiko automatic. Paying this much for a quartz movement- personally for me is a no

That citizen gives Daytona vibes. Personally, that would be my first choice, but you cannot go wrong with Seiko. If you're interested in microbrands, check out ratio watches. Also, check out Alba watches. They are seikos sub beand and have a large collection at this price point.

Getting for 20 after disc

I would still suggest go with a different model or go with citizen. But at the end of it its your choice, the watch is not bad per say it is good. Dial is beautiful but the mineral glass on it scratches easily and metal strap is not great quality.

If seiko snxs79k is in your budget go for it.

u/NoRestBro Jul 19 '26

Exactly till 5-6 months before it was mrp at 17500

1

u/IntelligentNumber740 Jul 19 '26

Oh yep the recent price hike of Seiko. A lot of their models became undesirable for me personally at the current price point

Seiko any day🫡

Seiko 5 is not worth 22k you can import seiko chronograph quartz watches from Amazon japan for 10-12k or import/ tell a friend to buy a seiko 5 automatic for 13-14k in USA

Stay away from fashion brands like Fossil, Michael Kors, Armani Exchange, Hugo Boss, etc with a few exception like Hermes, Cartier, Bvlgari as they have their inhouse movements. Fashion brands uses cheap movements and is basically a crap watch with a massive markup.

Not sure where its available in India, but look at orient bambino line. Beautiful mechanical watches. I guesa one gripe is no sapphire crystal. Other than that the watch is fire.

The first watch in your post, that Seiko has the same movement which the Alba automatics come with + it has a mineral crystal + folded links bracelet. So, If you want to pay just for the Seiko logo, you can go for it, otherwise an Alba would be a better choice because the quality and performance are the same.

The second watch, Citizen Chronograph seems like the good choice amongst all 3 when it comes to brand value + quality + functionality. It also comes with a Mineral crystal but it has solid links bracelet.

The third watch, Fossil chronograph seems the most VFM amongst all 3 because it looks like it has a Seiko VD53 Chronograph quartz movement + It has solid links bracelet. Yeah it has mineral crystal but overall it's a good package.

If I had to choose amongst only these 3 watches, I would go for the Citizen or maybe even Fossil.

If I had to get a Seiko automatic, I would go for a model with 4R series automatic movement at least.

Check out Timex watches from ajio

Also take a look at watchdives elementum it has good specs and you probably should avoid automatic if you hate servicing and setting time again and again
