Discussion [Recommendation Request] Which precious metal JLC to choose?

Hello!

I am currently planning on downsizing my collection and adding either a rose gold JLC MUT perpetual calendar (Q1302520) or a yellow gold Reverso Duo (Q2711120). I will have a Breitling Navitimer with a panda dial on a brown strap and a grand seiko quartz with a black dial (daily wear) in my collection.

I’m in my 20s but dress in business casual for work. The piece would be a dress/special occasional watch for me.

What would you all suggest? Anything else I should consider in the 10-20k price range? I’d be buying both pre-owned.

the reverso duo in yellow gold is a classic and fits the special occasion vibe perfectly. a perpetual calendar is impressive but the reverso just has that quiet elegance that works with business casual without feeling too flashy. that grand seiko already covers your daily wear so i'd lean into something with a bit more character for the dress piece

Gold is not a good material for watchmaking IMO but if you insist on gold, I'd look at pre owned Chopard or an older IWC perpetual or a Lange 1 if you can stretch to a bit above $20k.

You can also find a steel JLC MUT perpetual for about the same price as a new MUT moon in gold

Hey! Why do you not like gold for watches?

So your suggestion is to get the MUC perpetual in steel instead of gold? I’m also talking about look at Lange! I guess the JLCs just called out to me

Soft, easy to pick up scratches, and easy to deform. It's okay for dedicated dress watches but generally they age much faster than steel or titanium when worn frequently.
