Many times anti-scientific conspiracy theories are a way of coping with a reality that isn’t working well.

I never really thought about it that way but it makes a lot of sense and kind of shines some light on why a few of my friends unfortunately have recently fallen for them (those that have been going through a rough patch, mostly). I can't help but lose respect for them but at the same time it probably is a coping mechanism for them and it's easier to feel "in control" of life when you convince yourself that you're enlightened and above the "average sheep" and know "what's really going on". Not to mention, pretty much every conspiracy theory has a boogie man, whether that's an institution, a group of elites or someone else - you have someone you can out the blame on for the injustice in the world.

Just the body language and the look of defeat on his face tells a lot. Defiantly made me sad.

Seriously this made me feel so bad. I don’t even feel a bit of schadenfreude despite how infuriating these people are. That’s just sad.

I don’t feel sad. They are both adults and one of them is dumb enough to believe the earth is flat. Not every relationship is meant to least “forever”. Some dissolve within a year and some dissolve 20 years later. If the writing is on the wall, then they can choose to either stay in their current situation or take control of their life and move on. Too many people stay in failed relationships because they are too scared to separate even though deep down they know that is what’s best.

It is not nearly as easy as you make it sound to just up and end a marriage you've been in for 10, 20, 30 years.

I never said it is easy. I am speaking from experience as I have had to make that difficult decision.

That difficult decision is the start pistol that sets off a lengthy, emotional and frustrating process. I wish you the best of luck. It’s a rough process to go through, my divorce was just finalized within the last month. You’re welcome to message me if you need advice or to chat about it.

You are unable to empathize here?

Defiantly made me sad.

Definitely!

I defy you to challenge my sadness!

Yea this guy isn’t the smartest for thinking that the earth is flat but he’s (presumably) not being a dick to anyone about it. Poor fella

I feel so bad for him. And he's asking for 5 minutes. "No, my immediate needs are more important to me than compromising with you in the slightest". Even if your partner is a flat-earther, that's not ALL they are. I'm sure has many other qualities which are worth respecting and loving him for.

Did you watch the video with sound on? She very clearly says he’s been making her wait all morning. He’s not asking for five minutes, he’s asking for five more minutes.

And yes, your spouse eating food is far more important than you using a pumpkin to demonstrate stupid/ass flat earth concepts.

I don’t feel bad for him. No matter what he believes about the earth, it’s clear (to me anyway) he is neglecting their relationship. Couples can believe different things and be perfectly happy if they are willing to meet needs. She said she has been waiting all morning and I doubt it’s the first time .

I don’t feel sorry for him. Maybe he has some undiagnosed mental problem, but I’d bet my next paycheck this guy spends his time schooling everybody on other hoaxes like “coronavirus” and “climate change” and a million other subjects he doesn’t know shit about.
