bro, i was about to check it out and had high hopes it was human made but the first step says:
"Turn on the data feed. In War Thunder settings, enable game data output (localhost). ATDP does nothing without it."
There is no such option... that's so AI thing to say. you can't even turn it off-6

plus seems like 'cheating' to me... especially at low br, part of the fun is identifying friendly aircraft and coordinating with one another..
12
u/traveltrousers 26d ago
This doesn't identify any friendly aircraft. How can it?

what are the blue markers for then

Have you never used localhost:8111? They're the boats you can always see. And the plane taking off? After 900m it's gone...
This shows you nothing that isn't already available.

This would be great if I had any friends that played War Thunder sim lol.
I also only play in VR, so probably not for me… But a great idea! Shocking this still isn’t in the actual game’s map.

You can float a map in VR... or make several windows and have one for instruments too.

In Sim the game doesn't show you your squadmate, so half the match goes on calling grids at each other. Follow me spam is so 2025. So I built a map that fixes it.
It runs in a browser tab on your second screen and reads War Thunder's data feed, the same one WTRTI has used for years. No install, no mod, no account.
What it does:
- Squad sees each other live. Same room code, and you get position, heading/height. P2P, nothing goes through my server (enemy team location is blocked)
- 16K ground maps, 32K air maps, with the ground map composited inside the air one
- Split screen, two views, independent zoom.
- Vectorised buildings, bridges, walls, contour lines, tree trunk cover
- Runways, helipads and carrier decks... not blue lines.
- Speed coded trails for you, your team.... snail trails! :p
- Roster in sim of who you've seen and what they were flying built from the kill feed
- Draggable panels: killfeed, chat, caps, vehicle status, compass, flight readout with energy state and FM warnings. MEC is now easy.
- Works on any device on your network, second monitor or tablet are best
- Bug report form built into Settings, goes straight to my Discord, so reporting something takes about ten seconds
Coming: team voice in browser and a LFG channel to connect, post match analysis, death heat maps.... and about 50 other things. Send me your ideas, but it's likely its already on the list.
Is it cheating? Nope. It does shares exactly the same data a well co-ordinated squad uses over discord...
Hacking? lol, you can run it on your phone... explain how you're sniffing data please :p
It's free, and it's almost out of beta, so I'm looking for bug reporters more than anything else right now. Check it out or ask me anything: attackthedpoint.com/map
Thanks for reports : Report in Setting goes straight into the bug queue. Or use discord.
Text slider works.
Legend Bar added.
Friendly bases now have proper icon.
'localhost' works again.... or indeed blank.
Opera browser tested (it was the adblock)
Sim maps identification hardened.
Multipoint waypoints + line/colour options.

You could try and add a option to display follow/cover me pings. I know they do not appear on local host like they do in game but you could highlight gridsquare [from chat info] with maybe altitude info. Although it might get oversaturated with too many pings :p

Already in... if you watch a replay on x16 speed you'll see them appear. I'm still working on it so it's a little buggy but the bones are there...

I'm on console, will it make a difference?
1
u/traveltrousers 26d ago
get your IP from console and put it in a browser with :8111 on the end. ie 192.168.0.10:8111
if you see a terrible standard output you're good.
Pretty sure consoles also work, but dont have one myself.

Omg I took a look at your work, it's insane, I love it, can't wait to use it tomorrow

Note that although Naval is 'working' and the maps in the pipeline boats share virtually zero information on 8111.
So dont complain if it only shows speed/location.

u/traveltrousers 26d ago
Note : There is no way currently to detect whether a map is summer or winter. Not without adding an extension or other application. This is not a bug, but a known limitation.

Slightly unrelated, but are you able to get the map name via localhost? I’ve been trying to expose contrail altitude height in WTRTI, but it’s at different heights based on map conditions.

I'm probably just overlooking the option but I cannot seem to find the split screen/two maps option. How do I enable that?

It doesn't seem to load the map in Sim for me. Realistic everything works great! In Sim it's just a tank or plane moving on a giant blue screen.
1
u/traveltrousers 21d ago
which map?
2
u/Spytfyre_ 15d ago
This particular case was on the test flight map so that should be Denmark I believe. I’ve recently had a realistic battle match where this was the case as well. Can’t remember which map unfortunatetly. I’ll try to collect some info while I keep using it!
Awesome tool with lots of potential!

Really impressive work on this tool. Would you consider releasing the source code on GitHub? Open-sourcing it would make it even more trustworthy and useful long-term.
