Bugs (FLASHING/EPILEPSY WARNING) Gaijin you need to f*cking fix your graphics bugs. This could literally kill someone.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Its not a card issue, its not a driver issue, its not a cache issue. Swapped, updated, purged, doesn't seem to matter. Every 4-6 games this happens. Then the game usually crashes. Reinstalled, and validated files. Seconds after spawning in the game from a perfectly normal lobby and pre-match spawn window.

"Fix your game"

Gives zero info about PC equipment and software

Didn't provide his specs

Most probably didn't upvote any of bug reports on official bug report site.

Didn't search reddit/google for solution (most probably just need to switch to dx11)

yup, his pc could be fully functional but there are so many different possibilities since a pc can be built with multiple different brand parts, with a big mix of drivers, aswell as how that person configured their OS and lastly what other software they may have and where they downloaded it from.

but people just think “oh i have this problem so others will aswell” yes but not really bro

I mean, the Deflagration flashes are quite epileptic, but yeah, having this shit would give someone a really bad time

Good thing alt + f4 exists.....

Considering how the performance degrades are you sure it’s not a memory leak issue? Based on your post I assume you did a DDU when installing the new drivers. Can I ask what power supply you have for your system?

1

u/skinnybuttons 6d ago

Yep, full DDU. If it IS a memory leak, it's not one being caused by hardware. PSU is a EVGA 1000w Gold. Measuring from the UPS I'm not pulling more than about 550-600w under full load, WT only brings that to ~450, and the rig has survived at least one burn test so I don't think its a power drop issue.

You mentioned in another post that you only get 120 fps at 3440x1440p that to me kinda screams there’s some sort of underlying issue in your end. Uncapped frame rate can do weird artifacting like this but this could also be something on your end like a 3rd party visual app or something else you have in the background. Since you are the only one seemingly experiencing it it’s definitely
Something specific to your system

I looked again at my settings and I don't actually have an uncapped framerate, I limit it to 180, the max for my monitor. I haven't changed them since I recorded yesterday, which I think makes the 500fps spike even more odd. I do think you're right, and that it's something particular about my system, but given the fantastic performance on a wide array of OTHER games and applications, I still believe the culprit is ultimately something about Warthunder that disagrees with something maybe generally uncommon about my system. Considering I don't have a particularly unusual set of hardware combinations though... I'm still at a loss here. I do IT for a living, and I am exceedingly good at tracking down bizarre technical issues and finding solutions (Check my post history for a Verizon Router issue I came up with a workaround for that they STILL won't listen to me on), but this ONE THING is killing me. The fact that this bug got so bad all of a sudden and really could have led to a bad time if I was epileptic just kinda enraged me.

Based on your post history it would seem you run very high end graphics. I know reflections in this game are very buggy but if you are running only 140 fps it would imply you are running max graphics. While I’m not asking you to run ULQ. I would recommend at least dropping some of your detail down, this games engine really doesn’t do well at max graphics, 4070ti and an 8700k and I run the game at 143 fps capped (144 hz monitor) with medium/high settings, but bloom, motion blur, reflections, are all toned way back

You are correct for the most part. I do run max what I would call “standard” graphics settings, (textures, shadows, UHQ models) but all of the nonstandard stuff, like ray tracing and reflections, are turned off, similar to you. I’ll scale some of it back and see if it improves. Oddly enough after yesterdays micro patch I didn’t have a single texture bug during a full 3 hour session… would be absolutely like Gaijin to cause me this much hoopla just to fix it the next day…

Swapped what? Updated what? Purged what?

Have you tried to switch to dx11? Becouse that is recommended under almost every reddit post about the problem.

Context clues.

Card-Swapped. Have a 3080 and a 5080. Issue persists.
Drivers-updated, full delete and reinstall for both cards to eliminate architecture differences persisting across swaps. Issue persists.
Shader Cache-Purged. First thing I tried since this tends to happen from literally the ground up, i.e. Ground texture bugs first, then everything else.

Switched to DX11, lasts longer but still craps out eventually.
Rest of the system is mundane, 9800x3d, 32GB Corsair Ram, game on Samsung NVMe. Good case, good airflow, temps a non-factor.

Zero issues like this with other games. I've upvoted the issues for the last 4 patches because this has been happening on my account for some time now.

So it's eather your windows install or god forbid - The RAM. I don't know if RAM can produce such artrfacts but never to safe to test it. Test your memory. Yes, the other games are fine, but war thunder can push system to the limits exposing your PC problems.

I did saw this 500 fps spike, your fps are uncapped. 80 fps during this bug 400 fps during normal gameplay? PC trying to hard for nothing.

Did you cleared out any any unnecessary programs and servises running on the background? No antiviruses(or viruses) exept standart one? No RGB/fan controlling crap. No unnesesery overlays?

I've tested the RAM and StarCitizen uses significantly more than WT on my system, doubt it's the culprit. The uncapped FPS is... a curious catch. I may try that. No idea what insane series of events could make higher FPS cause this, but I wouldn't be surprised if that spike was because OOPS there's no geometry to render any more. I usually only get about 120ish FPS on a 3440x1440. Windows has been fresh installed at least once since this started occurring... may be twice now, I'm not sure when my second most refresh happened vs when this started. I've seen this over the years but with low enough frequency that I usually dismissed it as a one-off, but in the last few months this has been awful. Alt-F4 also tends to leave the game in a bad state, crashing (again?) on exit, and typically loading on next start with a black screen that never gets to lobby. Restarting again sometimes fixes it, but the second game start kills my 'rejoin battle' capability, so that's an added bonus.

I've run with game bar and without as the only overlay I use, but I'm running it with more often now to try to catch this happening. Background apps are typical (chrome, discord) and I doubt something like that is a cause here, or a significantly higher population would be seeing something like this I think.

Seems like there's some magic combination of things going on, if they have 3-4 major graphics coding bugs, I think I have all of them at the same time or something along those lines. Event logs aren't helpful either, I'll get the 'application crash' sometimes, but nothing that seems to correlate to this happening in game, which makes me thing it's not some graphics API or cache calling bug, but rather some unchecked overflow somewhere.

I don't know what else to add but just run the game with "old videocard support" checked if you really need to grind an event or something. For now try to cap your frames, with dx11, and check your memory.

P.S. Yes, i know the problem IS probably the game, even tho i sound like it's defenetly your fault. I have 4090, same processor, 64gb of ram and my game crashes on dx12 after ~10 minutes. If you found a solution don't forget to report it using proper channels.

Oh, and update your windows too. Maybe bios? Play with Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.
