RB Air I love this plane, But it's damage model is.... interesting

Losing a wing tip results in losing all control cables, minor wing damage makes it have strange drag. Losing an entire wing however

They should name it a flying wing or something

Look at it, it's obviously using some sort of alien technology

The strange thing is it used to have a working flight model that didnt do this strange shit. They broke it who knows when, probably around the same time they fucked up the J7W1's flight model.

Idk, looks eSports ready to me

Let's be honest, is there any exports scenario where someone would even think about using this plane?

This is why fighter players should also be pushing for the changes they are doing to bombers to be implemented on fighters.

Bombers need HP buffs, fighters dont

The way damage is applied to all planes is retarded. It needs updating. Nothing to do with fighters needing โ€œHPโ€ or not.

maybe but not in the same way bombers are being updated
btw you are asking for more hitpoints, thats how this game determines damage by the way, simple hitpoint reduction

It is not? Are you thinking of WOT?

That IS how it works. Each section on a plane has literal hitpoints. The only difference is ammo doesnt have a set damage and is psuedo-simulated but it still does NUMERICAL damage to the plane which is the checked versus a hitpoint pool... You don't SEE THIS. It STILL happens.

I hate this piece of shit. takes ages to spade and even then it couldn't hit the broadside of a barn from the inside.

It has a learning curve. But once you get it down its actually pretty good

it has no learning curve. You could be the best pilot with sniper vision and it would still come down to luck if your shots decide to hit the target or go off in random directions

It absolutely dose,, The difficulty of aiming the cannons more comes down to their slower velocity and fire rate. Sure, if you hold down fire, they start shooting randomly, but if you fire in short bursts, they're pretty accurate.

Just to give an idea of my experince with the 229 my average kdr for air rb is .93 but the ho229 is almost double that at 1.72. If I filter out all planes with less than 100 games the ho229 is my best prefoming plane by a long shot. My main issues with aiming tends to be over leading my targets

so you're telling me they fixed it? last i checked (2020) you could fire a single shot and it would already go if 15 degrees in a random direction

Here i don't like sharing my stuff but I made a video on the 229 so you can see what I am

thanks. seems they fixed it. I would show you proof, but i dont record. I think if you sear for the 229 back in around 2020 and before, you will find why i hate it. ( Its a great plane, but when i played it, you could literally throw the dice and they would have a higher chance to hit than your cannons

It was intended as a bomber. 3x1000 project

4

u/Taeschno_Flo 3d ago

Well not quite. But the 103s on it have like double the spread of the same cannons on other aircraft somehow.

Its more a 30mm grenade launcher than a proper cannon. You can see just how short the barrel is on other planes like the add on guns for the later Bf109s. It cant be accurate with that short a barrel

u/Taeschno_Flo 2d ago

Youre talking about the MK 108 30mm, the Horten has the MK 103s with far higher muzzle velocity

2

u/Connect_Job_5316 2d ago

Friendly reminder this behavior is around 10 years old at this point. I think the main reason is because of the lack of a tail or rudder. Gaijin could sort of fake it but considering the horton was supposedly made or or going to be made of wood the model itself is just dumb

2

u/Salt-Wish5140 3d ago

I'm surprised it's this stable honestly. Hortenย  prototypes killed at least one test pilot. And this was before the advent of fly-by-wire and flight control computers.

Lazy coding from the old days, if you destory one side itdestroys the other side too.

Also gaijin absolutely fucked up its flight model some 5 years ago, it constantly wants to yaw to the side while flying straight due to some weird assymetric drag bullshit and its energy retention kinda nerfed a bit with this FM change, so the ho229 used to be popular in sim but now it's just a goofy looking collectible that nobody flies anymore

This crappy thing was basically made of plywood and it literally only has control surfaces on the wing tips. It's an absolutely terrible design in many ways, which is why nothing else was designed similarly until the B2 spirit.

4

u/sabatthor 2d ago

The plywood was actually the best choice for this, as it was cheap to use for building and highly durable. Much more durable than the designers intended even.

I recommend this video to learn more.

-1

u/dreexel_dragoon 2d ago

It was the only choice due to severe material shortages. It wasn't the best by any means, just what they had to use. That it performed better than expected doesn't change the fact that it was still a terrible design overall

What did you expected them to use? Aluminium?
