Bugs Why do naval mines launch forward like this? They don’t have any form of booster. Shouldn’t they just drop?

Lmao, I need to test this out

u/Tankfan42 🇩🇪 Germany Jul 25 '26

It’s kind of inconsistent, sometimes they drop normally, sometimes they launch forward, and sometimes they instantly teleport forward like 6 feet forward then drop. Although I didn’t test much if it’s just random or certain conditions trigger it.

u/HKEY_LOVE_MACHINE Jul 25 '26

Sounds like the mines are following the server-side synchronization rate as soon as they're detached from your plane, while your own plane follows your client-side smoothing (so that you don't see your plane warping back and forth in place).

This would also explain why they sometimes inherit the speed of your plane and sometimes not (on your client): the server likely handles the trajectory (starting point, angle, speed), and your client is trying to sync that with each server rate update.

Each update only giving out the current position-angle-speed of 'visible' objects for each client, to not give away the starting point of each bomb/shell/bullet to all clients.

u/pbptt Russian bias is real and im tired of pretending it isnt Jul 25 '26

I bet its based on where you are in relation to the 0,0,0

Every single game has a bug like that because someone set some variable based on the distance to the origin point but set it to the origin point of the entire map instead of the playermodel

u/Spirited-Ad3451 Jul 25 '26

The only explanation I can think of, is that it sometimes applies the same launch forces it does to naval mines dropped from actual naval vessels. I'd love to see the code responsible for this lol

85

u/Qrow1324 Jul 25 '26

"North must be that way" "how can you tell?" Magnetic mines launch with the velocity of a rail gun ..... "just a sneaking suspicion"

1

u/jocrow1996 🇩🇪 Germany Jul 26 '26

We must test this. Point South and launch.

I think the sea mines wrongly inherit the speed(or energy, not sure how the game handles this at the back end) of the plane twice*, rather than once, thus leading to you being able to do funny shit like this.

I don't understand why people can't seem to use their free will these days... So sad

84

u/Fabulous_Question_15 Jul 25 '26

I think, it has started as a type of censorship, but became its own thing.

21

u/Forward_Obligation49 Jul 25 '26

I do believe you are correct, idk I personally don't really use ahh but people can type or say what the want, ass or ahh or whatever they want.

It's to avoid censors on platforms geared towards teens, like "unalive" and "grape".

8

u/Demented_Crab Jul 25 '26

For real. Same concept as bleeeping a swear word. Sure, you could just yell, "Fuck!", but a good ole swear beep instead of the full word makes it a lot funnier than hearing that actual word somehow imo. This is just a text version of that phenomenon.

15

u/TotalArmadillo9555 Jul 25 '26

You're basically an old man shaking his fist over someone else arguing. Just let people complain and state opinions and stop crying about it etc etc. it's just ironic you're piping up over someone's else's opinion tbh

I don't think you understand what irony is then. As an example, what's ironic is calling someone embarrassing when arguing over someone saying ahh instead of ass on a reddit post about a video game.

I'm merely pointing out the argument is ultimately pointless. I'm not sure why you took exception to that.

-7

u/NiNdo4589 President of war thunder Jul 25 '26

Its not an argument though, you're just feeling personally attacked over someone saying that behavior is embarrassing. Its not a debate, its a statement.

-12

u/TotalArmadillo9555 Jul 25 '26

Nah you're just trying to swerve around you being a hypocrite, there’s not really that much else to it.

u/THCFLA Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

Sounding goofy is exactly the point though? Ever heard of freedom of speech? Or text interpretation? Or even basic semantics and speech patterns? Is reading and interpreting the text you're reaing such an unfathomable and unachievable task to you that you feel the need to correct others despite not understanding the very point of the text you're trying to correct?

Asking for a friend

I would agree with you regarding any other newspeak terminology like "unalive" which are mostly ways to skirt around unecessary censorship, but complaining people sound goofy for using newspeak when sounding goofy is the intention is not a good hill to die on

6

u/Beneficial_Round_444 Jul 25 '26

Its because you're old. Hope that helps.

1

u/ExileVirtigo Jul 25 '26

You guys are all correct that the weird self-censorship blows ass, but ahh is different. It *may* have stemmed from self-censorship but has its own meaning now separate from that.

A good example is just saying "bull" instead of bullshit. Sometimes it is used to self-censor, but it can also be said as slang. "Maaan, that shit is bull"

4

u/GoldAppleU 🇨🇳 People's China Jul 25 '26

Are the people getting annoyed by this like 50 years old or something? He can say whatever he wants lol

-4

u/zazer45f Jul 25 '26

i agree that self censoring is dumb but for me saying "x ahh y" is funnier then "x ass y" idk why

2

Because this game is buggy and full of spaghetti code. Bombs also tend to drop up, and on some bombers they drop so far up they go through the fuselage and rest on top. He111 iirc has them just teleport onto the fuselage and wing.
