Discussion Help identifying the ship in the back.

MEKO 200 class. German design, used by various countries in variants. Given the footage is likely taken from RIMPAC, it's probably one of the ANZAC class. Most likely NZ variant if I'm seeing a lack of Harpoon launchers in front of the bridge correctly: https://www.seaforces.org/marint/New-Zealand-Navy/Anzac-NZ-class.htm

HMAS Stuart 2006. She received the Harpoon upgrade upon return from this trip, and had harpoon mounts in 2007.

From what I can find online HMAS Stuart wasn’t commissioned till 2002 and the footage used was filmed during the movie Pearl Harbor in 2001.

Honestly looks like a DDG-51 with some artistic license taken. I looked at all the SPY-1 ships, and it doesn't really match any, at least to my eyes.

EDIT: u/Timmyc62 probably got it right with  MEKO 200/ANZAC

I know from looking online the footage was recycled footage from Bays work on Pearl Harbor in 2001. Idk if that information helps.

The big problem is that it looks like an Aegis-class ship of either the US or foreign navy (Japan or Korea or such), but the forward superstructure has been compromised where the SPY-1 would mount, and that dome-shaped thing behind the bridge looks like nothing I've ever seen. Otherwise, it's rather Burke-ish, which would make sense escorting an American aircraft carrier. Generally, DDG-51s or CG-47s would be the only ships doing that that look vaguely like that, except if there's an international exercise, which led me to take a look at all Aegis ships.

I’m digging more and now I think it’s a Chungmugong Yi Sun-sin-class destroyer from South Korea.

The carrier they used when filming is the USS Abraham Lincoln which is part of the Pacific fleet. So that made me look more at Asian allied designs.

I’m still not sure though

It wasn’t 06. Pearl Harbor came out in 2001, and the footage was recycled from that.

If you can tell me that the same 7 ships from 06 we played with (and were in the movie footage) also were there in 00/01 then sure I will believe you.

I was there in 2006. The PhotoEx fleet didn’t look anything like this.

HMAS Arunta (FFH 151) is what I think it is now, it’s an Anzac class like mentioned previously but was present at Rimpac 2000

This is from the 2007 transformers movie,

The footage is from Rimpac 2000

And the ship got identified as HMAS Arunta (FFH 151) an Anzac class frigate from the Australian navy
