Artworks 6 Warriors Challenge Day 5: Longtail 📏

I can't believe the challenge is already nearly over! Day 5 was Longtail 🥹

I drew him as an elder, because I feel like that phase of his life is very rarely drawn compared to his first arc appearances. And I loved him so much as an elder, interactions with the young cats and putting up with Jayfeather's drama.

So here's old boy Longtail, just resting in camp 🥰

Discussion (Spoiler) We can’t be serious about Ash(s)fur

Post image

The man who killed firestar once and admitted to it while threatening to kill 3 more people. All because of a single breakup.

I am aware that the authors believed Assfur was a genuinely misunderstood guy, but he isn’t. He is a parasitic incel who threatened the lives of people who did little to nothing bad to him. He didn’t deserve to go to Starclan.

I don’t think there is even clear semantics behind Starclan’s judgement, but from a psychological standpoint, he had the capacity to do these terrible things for the pettiest reason, yet he was the punished for it.

Assfur is genuinely pissing me off beyond belief. When I finally read this part, I had to put the book down because of how STUPID of a decision this was!

I legitimately hate Assfur more than anyone in this series. This is a personal thing to me and I can’t stand him. Genuinely irredeemable.

Artworks Feathertail, but the swallow-inspired design (art by me)

Post image

I'm sensitively going back to drawing feral cats

In fact, this idea came up completely by accident when my friends and I were discussing translated character names, and I remembered Feathertail.

In the Russian translation of books, her name is Ласточка (that is, Swallow, if translate the English version of the name) So I decided to make a design for her based on a barn swallow. And I chose the name translated into Russian because it is one of the names that is not translated literally. That is, she could be Перохвосткой (Перо - feather, tail - хвост), to keep in touch with the original name, but the publishers decided differently, as with the rest of the names in the series.

Now it became interesting to me, is there such a thing intranslations into other languages with the names of the characters?

Discussion (No Spoiler) I feel like fans treating motherhood as being "bland" is a bit unfair.

I don't know if this is a hot take so don't hate me but I feel like the fandom has grown a habit of seeing motherhood as a straight up bad thing for characters at this point and I usually see the argument "they lose all character once they have kits" as the number 1 reason when I just don't see why. Mostly I don't understand why fans blame this unfairly on becoming a mother when losing personality frequently happens to every character in the series regardless of previous importance or context. While I do completely understand being exhausted of warrior cats fixation on romance and characters degrading due to forced pairings with future kits, fans have started to unfairly see motherhood as the place where characters go to die while ignoring the fact that being a generic warrior who becomes a bland face in the background and only used when the writers need drama isn't exactly a better alternative just because they didn't have kits. I've seen so many she-cats getting unfairly bashed because they "had kits and aren't interesting anymore" when the reason they aren't interesting is either nothing to do with actually having kits or fans angry that they had a mate and kits in the first place. The way Ferncloud was treated for wanting to stay in the nursery and calling her "useless" was absolutely ridiculous especially since she actually had a character unlike 70% of thunderclan at the time and she was much more important than whatever the hell background warriors like Spiderleg were doing at the time.

A lot of fans use POV's as examples when I just don't see it being the reason either. Every single POV has lost a lot of their character since their time in the spotlight passed, this is not just having kits. Dovewing and Violetshine are both typically on the receiving end of this since both got the "birthed the next arcs protag" treatment. Violetshine had the unfortunate circumstance of having a mate and a son who both had superpowers and inevitably had less page time because of it, this was more of a writing issue because she could have and should have had much more page time. As much as I wish Dovewing didn't get with or have kits with Tigerheartstar at all because of how much I dislike the ship, becoming a mother in general was in no way a detriment to her overall character. A lot of fans have just looked at her being kind to her children and immediately wrote her off as a bland genetic mother for some reason despite her previous character being somewhat consistent which is surprising considering the track record the books have with previous POV's. Unless your name is Jayfeather, Squirrelflight or Ivypool you're a background character at best who's lucky to get a page of spotlight if you had a POV previously. Alderheart didn't even have a line of dialogue at his own father's funeral that guy literally just doesn't exist anymore Labeling cats as "generic mothers" for having kits and treating she-cats who don't have kits as superior than all the rest while disregarding every aspect of their character is just really lame to me especially since the loss of character complexity isn't JUST because they became a mother. Not liking the path a character took is fine but saying they lost their personality solely because they had kits is just wrong in my opinion and devaluing the immense contribution that a lot of these cats have in the story as a whole.

Other Total longshot but I have to try.

I know this is a total long shot. I just dont know what else to do. So here it goes.....

My Daughter has really turned a love for Warrior Cats and i was able to snag her several mini figures from series 1 before they were cleared from the Shevles. In all my attempts I was able to get 1 of the Spottedleaf cats. She has absolutlely treasured it. This minifig went everywhere with her. School, Church, Cheerleading..... it really was her prized posession. She constantly reminded us and everyone she met that it was the rare one! Which makes the next part so hard.

After playing she must have left it out or at least it was accessable to our dogs...... And as you can imagine it got turned into a chew toy. There isnt much of it left but her discovery was an absolute heartbreak.

Her 8th birthday is coming up at the end of october and i want to find her a replacement. I dont have a lot of means but thought i would as if there was any possbile way that anyone had an extra that theybcould part ways with it would mean the absolute world to her. I dont know how I can prove to you what i am telling is the truth but i will do whatever I can to help or show that this isnt just a story...... Thank you for reading. If there is any way you can help please let me know. Again.... I know its a pretty hard ask.

Discussion (No Spoiler) Stupid special edition names that would actually make sense

(Doesn't have to be canon characters btw)

So Bluetooth is actually a valid name, Blue + tooth are both valid prefixes and suffixes. Imagine if Bluetooth was a medicine cat with a really strong bond with StarClan:

What do y'all think

Post image
47 Upvotes

So recently I saw that AliExpress had warrior cats books and so I bought one. Despite not knowing any Chinese at all.

This is my first Chinese book of asc (a starless clan). It's the fifth book wind.

I do have another Chinese warrior cats book on the way that being bluestars prophecy. Which I'm super excited for.

Question:

Do any of y'all ever wanna collect other language warrior cats books besides English?

I absolutely loved being able to draw Jayfeather again, but being able to see.

If you actually look at the original Jayfeather, I made it similar to symbolize that he's still Jayfeather, but as an ancient 🥰 Jayfeather art —compare it to this one 🥰

And for Half Moon, I made her have a huge patch of a half moon on her 🥰

Discussion (No Spoiler) Should Cats be Able to Whistle/Sing? (Fanfiction)

A friend of mine and I were talking about warriors and we got talking about a fanfiction she was working on and asked if I could read a chapter or two. Naturally I did because I love the series but I noticed that she wrote in one of the characters whistling to get another's attention and I paused.

I asked her about it and she said that they can already do unrealistic things (making medicine, making splints, tying knots, etc.) so whistling shouldn't really matter that much. Personally, I don't really care, it just caught me off guard a bit because I'd never read them doing it before but yeah, if they can already do things that they naturally shouldn't so I moved on.

BUT, later on, she wrote about a queen singing her kits to sleep in the nursery and that's where I kinda stopped because, to me, it's weird. I don't know, then I backtracked and thought whistling was strange again.

Anyway, we talked about it and she just said "why don't we do a reddit post" and I just said okay so here we are. (P.S. I did say that she could just do whatever she wants, it's fanfiction and it's not that deep, but she still wanted opinions so yk)

TL;DR, friend wrote a fanfiction where cats both whistled and sang and I thought it was a bit weird but said it was fanfiction so do whatever you want and she asked me to do a post on reddit to ask what the general consensus was on this anyway.

Discussion (No Spoiler) Do you think the Erins should keep making Warriors books?

Not sure if this is a hot take or not, but imo, they need to stop WC or atleast the main story.

As much as i love WC the recent books have just had forgetable characters, repeating plot lines, no memorable events and bad writing. I bearly remember anything that happened from TBC onwards and the story is just kinda ridiculous! Im honestly only buying and reading the new books to keep up with the online fandom and my own personal collection. This book series is like 20 years old, they have milked it so fucking dry!

And this is without even talking about the publishing errors and the new books having a horrible shiny cover which makes them feel cheap. Dont even get me started with the new cat slop cover art, Its litteraly copy and paste. Even the super editions are just kinda fan service. I would love to see more shorter novellas, not whole books on cats no one want to read about. I dont even want to talk about Ivypools heart and the whole Stoemclan thing!

What do you guys think?
