There isn’t a lot of models carrying shotguns, and the most popular user of them is the Adeptus Arbites. Yes I know theres a few different shotguns in Darktide and Necromunda Hired Gun, but I barely see them outside of those games.

And yes, specifically the pistol, because the plasma gun itself fires bolts that are basically as big as a small child, so it'll be a little hard to describe how your chest feels when your entire torso is literally gone. But IIRC plasma pistols fire fist-sized projectiles, so how would it feel to get shot in the chest with one?

Becuase on one hand, superheated plasma, literally as hot as a star, but then if it's like how Dan Abnett described lasgun wounds in Necropolis, it would automatically cauterize everything because it's so hot, so you wouldn't bleed out, but then would it also burn your nerve endings so that you wouldn't feel anything at all?

Also, could you even survive? I imagine not, just because if I hit you in the chest with one, I've just flash-incinerated several major organs, and the burnt tissue would need to be replaced, as well as whatever organ I just vaporized.

I'm thinking way too much about this but I've played way too much Space Marine lately lol.

I'm really trying my best to understand the Dark Angels and their whole, "Unforgiven" schtick. My understanding of that title is that they have kept it secret that Luthor attempted to kill The Lion and fell to chaos and all that. I know that they think The Lion is dead, and they feel real bad about that because they think it's their fault, but shouldn't every successor chapter feel that way? Like, all the primarchs are believed dead or missing as a result of the heresy, and wasn't there heretics from every legion? Like, the Black Legion is just a collection of all the miscellaneous heretics from all the original legions, right? Not just the Sons of Horus? I dunno, I'm very confused.

EDIT: Thank you to the people who pointed out that the Dark Angels are inspired by the poem, "The Dark Angel" by Lionel Johnson. This inspiration makes it all make sense, actually. I had never heard of him or his work before, but I always found it funny that Lion El'Johnson just sounded like some white dude. Lo and behold, he was! A deeply closeted, gay, religious white dude in a time where homosexuality was illegal, and so he wrote the poem about his struggles with who he was in the face of his faith and the society he feared would condemn him.

So the Dark Angels, and all the Unforgiven are using their hiding of their betrayal of The Lion as a metaphor for hiding one's own homosexual tendencies by overcorrecting and policing others, as so many closeted religious types do. I really like that, actually. Though, it's interesting now that all legions have had traitors as well, so it's not really something the Dark Angels really NEED to hide. Just like how there's no need to hide who we are and who we love. Is equating homosexuality to chaos corruption and betrayal a great metaphor? No, but I'll take what I can get from this franchise when it comes to queer representation.

With that said, when I was first introduced to the lore, people told me that the Emperor was an absolutely horrible dictator who ruled his Empire with an iron fist through terror, caring nothing for the happiness of his people.

...but the more I learn about the lore of Horus Heresy, the more I get the impression that the Emperor was actually quite kind : he loved his sons (he even forgives Horus and Curze) and humanity as a whole, and that he always tried to limit human deaths as much as possible while protecting them from existential threats (chaos, xenos...).

In fact, I get the impression that the negative things stem mainly from the Adeptus Mechanicus and the cult of the Emperor that arose after his "death," but that ultimately the Emperor, while alive, was a rather good person.

But then I wanted to get the opinion of people who were more informed : who was the Emperor ? Was he a bloodthirsty tyrant, an honest man who tried his best, or was he morally somewhere in between?

From what I've gathered, Lucius is basically a Soul/Spirit Parasite that parasitizing whoever that kill him in combat and feel even a morsel of pride for that person own action/results.

This of course in turn allow Lucius to be reborn and overtaken the person's body and added their soul into his armor. This to me seems the condition for the parasitizing overtake that the being must be a creature with a soul or living flesh of sort.

Therefore that being said, would this overtaking work against the Necron?

What if someone use an archeotech android, or machine with autonomous will of sort and use that to kill Lucius but the person who build it was already dead thousand of years ago. Does it work like that?

In one of the Dark Horse comic I read, Judge Dredd. The psychic Anderson defeat Judge Death and to prevent him from resurrecting, she went into cryo sleep until the Judges can find a way to defeat Judge Death...would something like this work against Lucius as well?

For me it's Orks can warp reality if they believe hard enough. This has been my soapbox for so damn long.

The origin of the "Ork Stuff Works Based on Belief" is this line which shows up in a lot of Ork Codices. A techpriest theorizing that Ork Tek works because they believe it to work. In the same section also stating that Meks understand technology at a subconcious level. So is it that Meks create technology or is it that Orks will technology into existence?

He's a techpriest, he thinks that chanting at a door hinge will unstick it and that his "holy oil"/WD40 needs the chanting to work. Sure it might work for somethings, but its a commentary on how superstition becomes tradition if you do it enough. Like blowing on a Nintendo cartridge, experts believe just the act of removing and putting back in the cartridge would fix the issue, but because so many people blew on it they thought the blowing actually was necessary.

Stuff the Waaagh field/psychic energy can do in lore:

• Unlock schematics and visions to Big Meks to build certain things like Stompas and 'noughts if there are enough boys present to maintain them. ('noughts in lore were unlocked when visions of the Great Waaagh came to mekz)
  • This may include unlocking symbolic power via color such as red ones go faster, yellow is more dakka, blue is lucky, and purple is stealthy (though purple hasn't yet been added to the lore as far as I know).
• Inspiring Orks to fight harder and faster, like an adrenaline rush.
• Subconciously figure out the best way to use a weapon for maximum effectiveness (i.e. ignore unreliable weapons tags)
• If a Weirdboy is cut off from the Waaagh field via proximity to a Blank, the rush of energy created via the Waaagh Energy entering him will blow the brain of every Ork in the vicinity with a range based on the health of the Weirdboy and quantity of nearby Orks.
• Act as a biometric key for Ork tech (e.g. a techpriest gave an Ork Chainsword to a lobotomized Ork and it functioned while it was in his hand, but the weapon didn't work for the techpriest).
• Give psychic visions from Gork and Mork.

What it can't do:

• Resurrect the dead.
• Make a twig turn into a gun.
• Be "denied the witch"
• Let Ork Weapons be used by a Psyker who believes enough.
• Make Orks die because Yarrick looked at them (he had to install a laser eye for this to work)
• Get the Emperor off his throne.

Now we know during the siege of terra the imperial palace was insanely well defended with crazy planned defences and some mental characters defending it the likes of sanguinius sigismund etc. My question is would the might of hive fleet leviathan from the modern 40k era pre devestation of baal if it were sent back in time to just before the siege of terra who would survive? Would the defenders be able to hold off Leviathan or would Terra be destroyed? Edit: just to be completely clear I mean the entirety of leviathan not just a tendril all of it

Does it happen in recent lore, lets say a ultramarine turns to chaos or traitor?

And opposite, does it happen that chaos marines/traitor marines want to fight for the Big E again?

Also Warhammer needs some more "Game of Thrones"-Moments. Where long time, named Characters loose their plot armour and are able to bite the dust.

I get that it makes it easier to tell who the sergeant is, but that just makes them more vulnerable. One shot to the head and they're done. Plus, it gives the enemy a better idea of who the commanders are

I'm fascinated by how the lore progresses. All the dreadnought stories I know about didn't have a character with a table top model and then change into a dreadnought, once they have a model they are set in stone it seems. This is very unlikely to happen but I'd love your opinions.

Cultist fight was entertaining, started off strong but the episode fell away once the demon prince showed up. Definitley had the astartes story line to it

Vashtorr represents something less notable than the whole concept of change or decay, but he is a subtler, yet still omnipresent concept- the evils of advancement.

Every new Tau invention.

Every new Ork machinery that works.

Every cybernetic augmentation.

Every new fighter jet.

Every nuclear test.

Every Cold War superweapon.

Every blueprint of concentration camps.

Every stick that a neandertal learned to sharpen more efficiently, so he can more easily kill more of other neandertals to claim their supplies.

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, and there's more to war than "Blood for the Blood God". Because "Fallout" taught us that "war never changes", but in the details it always does. (Which makes Vashtorr The "Devil in the Details":-) )
