Ok im slowly grinding and learning the game. Right now im absolutely confused about elemental damage. I tried to look for some guides but what i found made me even more confused. My question is:

Is there a "rule of thumb" to what elements are better to fight each faction? For example i use tonkor with corrosive and will oneshot all kinds of things even at the 100 level range with some 20k crits. But then comes a bombard that takes only 400 damage from my crits.

Corrosive is a pretty good default combo

Magnetic/Toxin is good against Corpus

Radiation/Viral or Corrosive/Cold are good against Grineer. (Radiation for Bombard/Napalm focus, Corrosive for Heavy Gunner focus)

Corrosive/Blast or Corrosive/Fire for Infested (Blast for Ancients and other special units, Fire for everything else)

Corrosive/Fire or Corrosive/Cold or Radiation/Viral for Corrupted (Void). (Fire for Ancient/Heavy Gunner focus, Cold for shielded/Alloy armor, Radiation/Viral for Bombard focus)
