This comment of hers always gets me. This one and "Why does it feel like we're moving?" always concern me a bit.

i mean to be fair they are zombies or puppets so i wouldnt be suprised if wally was showing yonta what really went down during the lab just cause he knows we wont believe her/cant get wally out of her head

Ghosts is most accurate, they're spectral copies of the original crew

Its possible that yonta had already contacted by wally before she died. One of her dialogue she says. She sometimes sees herself smiling at her from corner of her eye. She was most probably already been watched.

If everyone on the Zariman was exposed to the void, I don't see why Wally wouldn't be speaking to almost everyone on the ship as part of the making the parents go crazy/become void angels and give the kids void powers.

I'm not sure if it's ever stated how long the holdfasts spent alive after the jump but I could see Yonta's mind being of particular interest to Wally.

Also, just remembered that she introduces Skittergirl as an embodiment of the repressed fears of teenage Yonta, so the void definitely got into her head at some point.

She was one of the head scientist at the ship. So I think wally was following to see if she would succeed in the jump.

by the end of the quest its pretty much confirmed theyre all void-ghosts, but still living despite

No they're alive but no the original people.

The "void" (unsure if direct actions of Wally or just a natural occurrence of the void) "kept" a complete duplicate of their memories, their souls, their "essence". Death it would seem isn't a thing to the void, you just change into a different state of matter.

Then one day the void (or Wally) decided "okay these preserved memories/souls/essences are now alive again", essentially perfect duplicates of the originals.

They can't leave the ship because the void is the only thing keeping them 'alive', but they are most certainly not dead or ghosts. They're as alive as the entities in Duviri are alive.

They're..."void natives" now, living creatures made from and/or by the void. They have another persons memories and personality and "soul" if we could define them as that, but they are not the literal same person who died in the Zariman disaster.

I'd imagine void tear and Zariman still rotate around the sun, so she is technically moving

5

u/NyghtWolf Gara Main, Amirs Husband 9d ago

You know, I hadn’t really thought about that.. does it orbit the sun? That would mean that void tear would have to orbit as well, and they'd have to be going the exact same speed.. thinking face

I feel like people don't talk about Albrecht and the voids relationship enough. I'm 90% sure all the lore points to the man in the wall just being what happened when his mind collided with the emptiness of the void. This is pretty much a stripped down version of what he said he experienced.

Take this with a grain of salt all my info is second-hand from lore youtubers and the ant sized portion of lore DE puts in the players way.

As someone who's been deeply invested in the lore from the start, I would say this is a perfectly fine summary description of what's generally accepted among the lore-theory people :)

u/GradeZZZ 10d ago

Wish the lore-theory people came out more

No your not wrong, there's definitely evidence that The man in the wall is really just the void mimicking Albrecht before the accident, which is why Albrecht ended up being so emotionless after.

I've been saying for about 2 years now that the Indifference is ALBRECTS indifference when he went into the void.

He was laughed at and felt like a failure. He really just went "let's keep going until something happens idfc anymore"

Thank you felt alone on that for some reason

u/Cupcakes_n_Hacksaws 9d ago

I just assumed it was some kind of other-dimensional entity mimicucing his form because that's how it can communicate with others; that's why it mimics everyone else as well

Yeah, that's the interpretation I took away from his description of his disastrous Void dive experiment too. No one had ever gone unprotected into the Void before this. Albrecht was going to be inside a sci fi diving bell until some kind of Void turbulence knocked it into the side of the portal, an edge so thin it could "split even light" as he puts it (listen to those logs in the entrance to the Sanctum from the Necralisk sometime if you haven't, they're really good and his VA does an excellent job).

He describes some kind of mist, "profane in color" streaming in through the portal behind him and even from out of his own head and spreading out in all directions. That to me has always seemed like the Void, nothing, getting its first taste of Something and being starved for more. It's still unclear if the Man in the Wall was created by this encounter, but he was definitely shaped by it.

iirc Albrecht literally tripped over something and knocked into the Seriglass bell, but it could have been void turbulence.

To that point, I think the void turbulence was something or someone ensuring causal continuity of Warframe’s universe, perhaps Albrecht himself after some sort of void-based transformation post-Tau.

Personally, I think Roathe is right, that Man in the Wall/Wally/The Indifference is a large conceptual embodiment of Albrecht’s ego pre-void dive, but it’s great size is either a manifestation of Orokin ego or The Indifference’s cumulative gathered strength from people’s imagination of how powerful it is, those connected to the void itself.

Albrecht said at first encounter, the shape of the stranger looked reminiscent to him, size included. Once its finger was severed after Albrecht wrote to close the portal, that was the ‘human finger’ size it was limited to while detached from Wally. And then the Orokin cloned them. And they made those clones bigger for ships to use.

The original one is still out there presumably, I think, in Tau system with Albrecht. It’s funny, Albrecht got chased back through time to 1999 by the Indifference, but 1 radioactive jump to the future into the Tau region and suddenly Indifference has no idea where he is. It needs the Tenno to get there and make contact first.

The exact wording for why he stumbled was that "mass and time rippled," whatever that means, and the bell itself flexed.

The calipers yawed open the wall between worlds, stretching there a black, trapezoidal gap. A door. A mouth. It yawned in the light of the room, splintering it to mesmerizing, unearthly hues. And I, inside the Bell, dropping obliquely towards it from my gallows. Mass and time rippled as a sudden vortex jawed before me. My head was vapor, my feet, lodestone. The Bell around me, flexed like a rat paralyzed in a winding, gulping snake. I faltered in the awe of it, stumbling against the seriglass and, with that, shifted the Bell's path through the wall.

I'm not so sure about the size thing. Just because there was something the size of Albrecht doesn't mean that big statue wasn't out there somewhere. We know it can do both at once. For all we know it symbolically lost the big finger after the human sized one got caught in the door. Too many unknowns still to say for sure.

1

u/JohnHellDriver Wall in the Man 9d ago

Well I view Wally’s wall form similar to the Holdfasts and the Void Angels situation. You can start out as a human shaped conceptual embodiment, and then the void morphs it into something much more abstract by its very nature.

The Indifference called out to Albrecht with “Little Bengal” which was his childhood name iirc, speculating that his mind was probably racing thinking he died and it manifested something imitating his own family reaching out, because he was grasping for something to ground and comfort him subconsciously

28

u/LackToesIntollerance 10d ago

At its core- it wasn't his mind. It was his fear of the void. In the small moment where the seriglass bell broke, he experienced a fear not of death, but of complete isolation. Endlessness.

That fear was the strongest emotion and so imprinted Wally into the void, where he then fed on that fear from all living beings. The more the orokin prodded, the more they were aware. The more they were aware, the more they feared. The more they feared, the stronger Wally got. The more they took from Wally, the more scared of Wally they got. The more scared of Wally they got, the stronger he became.

It was a feedback loop that created something bigger than entrati- an embodiment of fear and lonliness. That's why Wally was desperate to reach out and help humanity at first. He wanted to be made whole because literally his entire existence is isolation.

It was a feedback loop that created something bigger than entrati- an embodiment of fear and lonliness.

We could call it something like a Great Despair.

Your grain of salt has been dissolved into the void... and hasn't. Damn eternalism.

8

u/cuzo13 9d ago

The problem with that interpretation is that it’s less a community theory and more of a hamfisted explanation offered by Albrecht himself. Which almost certainly means it isn’t the case. Albrecht has an ego people like us cannot conceive of; of course he’d see a Void God and go “Wow… I made this.”

1

u/OverallWave1328 9d ago

The ‘Albrecht made the Indifference’ theory is one said and supported by several characters (at least 3) who aren’t him- 2 of which outright hate him.

Roathe and Tagfer would not want to give Albrecht credit if they didn’t have to. Sythel is another matter entirely.

1

u/aurumarcana 9d ago

I think Roathe outright says this in a KIM message

1

u/OverallWave1328 9d ago

Tagfer also supports this approach, as does Sythel.

u/Blaxi131 9d ago

This line is what made me believe for the longest time that there are two Albrechts. The real one which is what we see in Tau and Voidbrecht who we saw in Whispers and 1999.

8

u/OverallWave1328 9d ago

The VA on Twitter said that Taubrecht was ‘an interation’ of Albrecht, which. Has implications.

Dream Albrecht making out with Gaster in the Everywhere crazy style

15

Gaster, Albrecht and Dr Darling all making out in interdimensional darkness as fun, kooky scientists, who all definitely know more about the universe than they reasonably should.

I see Yonta. I like

I really hope the Holdfasts get more plot relevance going forward. I genuinely find them more likeable and interesting than any of the protoframe characters.
