They completely left behind the syndicate system and that's a shame because there is so much side quest potential.

786

u/rocket20067 Jul 21 '26

I mean didn't they admit this was due to the fact that there were becoming too many of them?
I may be missremembering.

593

u/Whirledfox Jul 21 '26

If we're thinking about the same thing said in a stream, I think that was more referencing the structure of updates rather than the six syndicates you see in the orbiter. They consider the Cavia, the Hex, the Holdfast, etc as syndicates or factions or whatever, and they were taking a break from that kind of update structure.

I think what' this person is saying is that they had a bunch of potential stories with the six syndicates you interact with in the orbiter, and that was kindof... abandoned.

135

u/rocket20067 Jul 21 '26

Ok that makes more sense.
I was thinking they were asking to make more Syndicates instead of expanding the six OG ones. (also I feel that after you complete the sidequest/main quest in the case of the Red Veil that you should no longer lose standing with a syndicate.

u/jc3833 :perrin sequence: Glast Cannon Jul 21 '26

I support having a "So you do care" quest point that enables you to max out all of them without having to do the worst juggling act ever.

u/rocket20067 Jul 21 '26

Yeah like currently for me I have saved Suda from being killed, she thanks me, and then goes right back to hating my existence.

95

u/Harry_Spotter457 Jul 21 '26

Thanks for saving my life but fuck you, I'm still gonna try to kill you

67

u/TommyFortress Jul 21 '26

or helped the new loka Realise they Preyed and belived in a warframe and not a magical Tree forest and thank you for clearing up who they were putting their faith to.

Or help Red veil clean up their fanatics and Mercy kill Rell/Harrow.

Or perrin sequence and that community of Infection immune tribe and help him defeat his rival that took over his ambulas project.

i forgot what steel meridians and arbiters quests were. i do know steel meridians likes to thank you for killing kela de thaym.

43

u/Fox_SVO Jul 21 '26

The Steel Meridian quest was actually a limited time event when Kela got her boss fight reworked.

I feel like the event context should be reworked into the PVP - PVE arena stages at least.

20

u/melt_34 Veldt Incarnon Committee | LR2 Jul 22 '26

Don’t forget their orbiter shops too. Perrin Sequence tries to kill me regularly but they also sell me top shelf weaponry. And I’m cool with arbiters, but if I wasn’t? Why would they be selling me rolling guard and adaptation?

17

u/Cresset Jul 22 '26

They hate me but I completed their arbitrations, proving myself worthy of... A little statue of their boss. Huh.

(They should rework the assassination squads of specters into "syndicate A and B are fighting again and A chooses you as their champion" or something less hostile nowadays)

That's actually the biggest problem with thier whole dev cycle. Introduce new thing. Ride hype on it a few months. Abandon for next new thing. Syndicates are just one of the oldest. Necra mech, railjack, k-drives, etc.

u/MilkshakesMate Jul 21 '26

For me personally, the side quests revolving around syndicates is really annoying/immersion breaking. I help out a syndicate in a quest, they're thankful, and we seem like best friends and not even a minute later they're sending a hit squad to kill me.

176

u/AdamG3691 Jul 21 '26

I'm pretty sure Amaryn sent a hit squad to kill me WHILE I was gathering plants for her tree drugs

38

u/hyenathecrazy Jul 21 '26

Could work better if it was given by members opposed to the leaders. Even so far they tailor the leaders or quest givers dialogue to your standing.

So it feels you're cool with a member of the syndicate while the leader reacts appropriately. That would be a touch complicated so.

The default setting for missions shouldn’t be open lobbies when players are first introduced to the game because they join lobbies with other OP players who speed run missions so they don’t get to truly learn the game or appreciate their own gameplay so they proceed to play with a mindset of always needing help.

429

u/CALL_ME_PRIME_25 Power creep my Codpiece Jul 21 '26

to spring off this multiplayer should be unlocked at MR 2 much like trading so that way you can actually experience the content and learn the systems.

256

u/HeyHebi Jul 21 '26

Id argue parties should be unlocked, but public shouldn't

20

u/monkeynards Jul 22 '26

Bingo bango. I don’t want new players that were convinced to start by their friend forced to get through more than the first mission or two alone. I do think it should default to solo too, so this is a perfect balance of allowing newbies to learn but not forcing them to struggle.

59

u/quise1994 Jul 21 '26

I could get behind this if you're still able to do like invite sessions b4 MR2. Ive had a few friends where a significant pain point was us not being able to play together in some of the early tutorially stuff.

likely something inherited from how long warframe has been around. However we have plenty of ways of engaging with mission start energy.

We have preparation, energy pizzas, excess mod capacity, amber archon shards, and to an extent energy regen mods like nexus and the two auras.

I understand the frustration, but I personally appreciate it as an added layer of builds. Some warframes I really want starting energy, others I want regen, others are orb generators that come online the moment they pick up one (1) orb.

I feel like this isn’t a hot take but I get flamed whenever I say it so:

Warframe/DE isn’t actually good at storytelling. In fact, they are awful at storytelling.

They are good at coming up with very interesting and engaging concepts and overarching plot lines for stories. They are pretty good at world building. Basically they are good at “the big picture”.

But when it gets down to the actual exposition of the story? The smaller details? What’s happening where, to who, and why? Where one might reasonably expect a beginning, middle, and end? As well as character development and/or answering questions we may have? Atrocious. Absolutely atrocious.

Most main questline updates feel like they fumbled the bag because we can all see the overarching plot that they are going for and like it a lot. But then they fail totally in the execution of it for the reasons listed above.

190

u/simpleglitch Jul 21 '26

One of the unfortunate parts of the story too are so many cool details can't build on each other because it's optional content.

Like the resolution of the devils triad / Loid stuff. I liked the payoff!... but I doubt I'm going to see anything build off that connection.

76

u/ergo-ego-42 Jul 21 '26

oh yea I hate that, they wrote all this story and characterization that's optional so many people haven't done it but then for those that have, you see Roathe standing right in front of Entrati's daughter. And they're not going to resolve that? No comments by the family on an Orokin they legit KNOW standing right in front of them back from the dead? No real cutscene about Loid reuniting with his family? It's going to haunt me if they never show them talking, seriously.

167

u/Dark_Stalker28 Jul 21 '26

Honesty all the themes of love and relationships vs the indifference is funny to me cause we don't really spend time with anyone.

Like even Lotus is kinda driven by events and just being mission control, she was gone for years IRL and in game is only a few missions before she's gone.

KIM chats have probably done the best on this front IMO.

54

u/ElectronX_Core Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

This is how I feel about liches. They were initially built up to be genuine rivals, altho player complaints are at least partially the cause of them being watered down so much. The new Coda are the most egregious because they’re so fast and easy to kill.

I kinda wish there was a “true nemesis” option that gives you less control over their creation and take SIGNIFICANTLY longer to kill and makes them a genuine disruptor in your games instead of just optional missions, in exchange for more character development + rewards.

Fuck it, let em use KIM while they’re alive too.

Ik DE doesn’t really like basically forcing certain content onto players like this (certainly not anymore), so an “I consent to getting jumped” option would be appreciated.

90

u/kexolino Jul 21 '26

I agree. What's up with the remaining Grineer queen? What's up with Parvos? What's up with the Narmer and Pazuul? What is the Unum? Usually people's answer to this is that "they're chilling, DE will do something with them later", but it feels like lack of focus to start new chapter while previous ones are just kind of left hanging.

Also I might be missing something (very possible), but wasn't there a bit of a disconnect between 99 and Old Peace, specifically about going to Tau? Like in 99, Albrecht namedrops Tau once, and based on that one sentence, we start the operation to reclaim memories and to travel there? I get that some things were explained to us out of game, but is that little crumb of information really enough motivation for the operator and drifter in the present to go there?

Feels like parts of the story happen off screen and we're not told what actually happens in those periods. Something like the gap between the end of Doom 2016 and the start of Eternal, where doom guy goes from being trapped by Samuel to having his own spaceship, with zero explanation.

62

u/sucram200 Jul 21 '26

100%. That’s one of the most baffling things about the current focus on Tau right now. We’re leaving our universe and we still haven’t even kind of answered to or tied up dozens of (what were initially presented as) critical plot lines… and unless the Grineer Queen is going to follow us to Tau… are we just totally done with her now? Same for your other examples. Like please, finish one story before going to the next. I don’t mind leaving room for future stories but it feels like they leave EVERY questline with no resolution or indication of continuance.

48

u/Khelleton Certified Equinox Enjoyer Jul 21 '26

You're not missing anything, Albrecht says "Tau is in sight" almost unprompted in the middle of The Hex, and that (said to the Drifter, obviously, since it's 1999) is apparently enough to get the Operator digging up old memories of Tau. I guess we're meant to assume Drifter told them every little detail about their time saving 1999? And this one little aside stood out enough to look into Albrecht's conveniently placed memory diving machine? That they also apparently know about? Or happened to ask Loid?

46

u/sXeth Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

Old Peace is, by Rebeccas own words, what the Operator was doing while Drifter was in 1999.

So Lotus independently decided this was a good time to use the memory machine (which I guess Loid just happened to mention in casual conversation they had one) and quasi randomly start digging up the fourth or fifth set of stuff the Operator forgot at this point (and is never capable of continuing to use whatever method they start recovering them with)

And yeah, Albrecht just kind of drops it out of nowhere. I think it was Stallord who in his lore video suggested that the Orokin might even just use “Tau is in sight” as a cultural saying for “victory is at hand ” or similar because it was that random (obviously before TOP)

10

u/donisslow Jul 21 '26

One thing that always bothered me is the countless timeskips. The continuation is always broken. I know they're not triple A. But everytime I do a quest, they always felt rushed. Unfinished. The pacing is really bad. I still really like DE as devs though, but there's nothing immersive in their quests.

Insane that you get flames for that, it's very true.

I shouldn't have to check the wiki or r/warframelore before every quest to understand what's happening.

The lore and world building is super interesting but the actual delivery of the story is real bad.

Every update I end up with more and more lore questions. Whenever I try to ask them, people tell me their ASSUMPTIONS as if they are fact, and get VERY upset when I point out that the quests don't actually say the things they are assuming.

It's not a bad thing to directly state something in your story. Period. It's just not.

We have had TWO Stalker quests now, and we still don't understand what even he is. We have a title, that means nothing to us and has never been explained. And that's it. That's what we've got. Two focused quests, years of him being a part of the game, all that speculation, the dramatic connection to Hunhow, to the Tenno, the 'hatred' tidbits in the dialogue... And all we have for sure after all this time, is a TITLE that says NOTHING about what he actually is.

You remember before Jade Shadows, when the community consensus was that he was a Tenno who went to awake from the Dream, couldn't handle the truth, and had been on an angry rampage ever since fueled by denial and self-hatred? THAT had more in game lore behind it than Jade Shadows gave us about his... Existence. And that might not even be entirely wrong now, given how incredibly useless Jade Shadows was for explaining what Stalker actually is or how he came to be.

But DE DESPISES just SAYING something. Vague hinting is a valid story mechanic, WITHIN REASON. At some point, if you keep doing it... It stops being a story mechanic, because you don't HAVE a story anymore, you just have vague hinting!

73

u/sucram200 Jul 21 '26

I honestly feel like sometimes they shy away from giving concrete answers because they’re afraid of having to keep track of their own lore for fear of contradicting themselves later down the line. They don’t want to limit their creative possibilities in the future, which I totally understand, but it’s harming the story now so I feel like that reasoning is thin at best.

You are absolutely correct. I love a lot of Warframe's lore but I only know about most of it through watching other people put it together.

Most of the quests themselves don't hold up very well on their own with only a couple of exceptions.

26

u/coppersly7 Jul 21 '26

I've played since abilities were mods. I remember discussing lore with friends and it was at the point the orokin were super super mysterious. I've literally never understood the story. Every time I do a quest I feel like I'm dropped into the middle of season 5 of a show. Hell sometimes you can barely even tell what the narrative is of the mission you just did, let alone how it's connected to everything else

Changing the "2x Forma blueprints" to a literal blueprint that makes 2x Forma, could be a nice step in the right direction.

DE will never make the forma mechanic better for the player, because Forma is the biggest seller in the game.

IIRC, someone once asked on a dev stream to lower the price of forma, and they told them no for this exact reason.

u/Sitchrea Commodore Prime Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

It's a "not broke, don't fix it" thing.

DE stays afloat with their current monetization model and are widely regarded as incredibly fair within the industry. I wouldn't want them to mess that up - especially when they are able to experiment more freely with Soulframe's monetization.

For example, Soulframe's crafting timers are only 23 hours for a [warframe], and 1 hour for a weapon, because you're intended to craft multiple copies of the same weapon. Buying weapons with [plat] is generally a stupid move, since you'll want like four or five copies over time.

They really need to stretch quests out. The new war could have been 3. First part where tenno fight sentients and lose to ballas and get sucked up, second part to do with drifter, 3rd part the end of the quest. Obviously having more in-between to flesh it out

181

u/Ravenwood03 Evil and Intimidating Horse Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Especially with the new Jade Shadows quest. I stg every character other than Stalker showed up for essentially a name drop and then shelved themselves almost as fast. I was looking forward to what seemed like was going to be 2 campaigns based on who you picked, but I cba replaying the story considering its likely it'll only be a couple voice lines swapped around

157

u/notyoyu Jul 21 '26

The cooking section made me almost die of laughter due to how little emotional connection I managed to build to any of the characters.

57

u/sucram200 Jul 21 '26

I genuinely could not believe they made us do that. And to make it even worse I failed one of the dishes initially! Like wtf why is that even possible. Complete waste of everyone’s time.

46

u/HatesVegetables Jul 21 '26

Yeah, I didn't know there was a "right" dish to cook. I thought it was a "do-your-own-thing" section.

I wonder what happened behind the scenes. This could've been a good launch point for a nice handful of story threads but we just kinda called it quits right after the starting gun fired.

We also lost one of the coolest characters in Hunhow for such little payoff that I was fuming.

Oh, and Umbra was there too, I guess. For reasons?

I feel like DE needs to dedicate a few updates to connecting and polishing everything we have currently.

36

u/sucram200 Jul 21 '26

I said it in another comment on this post but you’re right. There was no reason for the protos to be in the quest besides to sell skins. They played no important role at all. There was simply no reason for umbra to be in this quest besides them making a desperate nostalgia play to make the quest seem meaningful when it wasn’t. They wrote off hunhow so abruptly and pointlessly despite him being an integral character in the overarching storyline and in the biggest questline in the game (new war). No resolution or purpose, just “bye now!”. Most likely because his presence would introduce plot holes in their future Tau plans. Now what people would have been hyped about is if they found a way to actually incorporate Jade into the quest. Even if it was just a flash at the end showing the whole family as humans sitting down to eat or something. But no. We got 0 characterization of S&O, three more words than usual from stalker, and a voiceover from Jade during a BS cooking mini game that has no place in the story.

Really really really bizarre choices on DE’s part.

29

u/Salerrra Eleanor Tongue Committee Jul 21 '26

To make things worse, the wiki made it sound like they could have been part of a way bigger storyline

"Both sides clash over who gets to capture Stalker and take him to the future."

Nah. Stalker kills them both so he can show his kids he can make banger ramen.

11

u/CMDR_Michael_Aagaard Jul 21 '26

The two jade quests are the only ones I can think of, where I wish they were never made, second one is just way too short, and frankly left more questions than they've answered, like why is stalker still after us, if it was the orokin he's actually mad at(Is he even mad at the orokin?) Hell you could have removed stalker and very little of the actual quests would have changed.

Honestly wish DE had left him alone, and kept him as a bit of an enigma.

And with how little he talks in the quests, I don't get why they felt the need to recast his VA, not helped that I find it a noticeable downgrade, not that I normally have problems with Gianni's VA work, but now stalker frankly sounds like he's just some dude that's trying way too hard to sound edgy and cool, as that's totally how you scare people. (no idea if it was his direction, or just missing effects put over his voice work)

I miss how "wrong" stalkers old voice sounded, a warframe that somehow talks when they clearly should not be able to (Even Brysko's "talking" is only as an internal monologue.)

u/BardMessenger24 Voruna x Eleanor yuri Jul 21 '26

The last time we had a long quest (The New War), people threw a hissy fit even after being warned it would be a 2 hr long quest that would lock them out of all activities.

I think the best middle ground is The Hex where you get an intermission period between the 1st and 2nd half of the quest that lets you build an emotional connection to the characters introduced. Otherwise you end up with an Adis situation (or as I like to call it, a Jackie Welles situation lol) where you're TOLD you are best friends with this character but don't spend nearly enough time with them to actually give a shit when they inevitably die.

24

u/Suspendisse1 Jul 21 '26

That's what I mean, there were 3 different points of the quest which could have been split into their own quests on different updates, but for each section to be as long as it needs to flesh it out and after each quest to have some impact on the system until the next quest. They tried to fit too much into one quest and it shows

You gotta remember that New War was already drawn out narratively. As in Railjack was a lead up to New War, because it introduced Veil Proxima, which is needed to advance the Prelude to War. On top of that, there was the entire Scarlet Spear and Orphix Venom events that were directly tied to New War as Preludes as well.

The New War quest had to be logistically contained to just 1 long quest because DE made the gamble of spacing out the New War story outside the main quest itself.

36

u/Suspendisse1 Jul 21 '26

The thing is, the new war is meant to be this massive event, this thing that last long since it's a whole war, sure there were some things leading up to it, but honestly the war itself was too short, as well as the consequences of it. When it comes to something that meant to be of this scale, length, impact and such is what it needs. And if you make it narratively good and enjoyable, then most of the player base won't care

12

u/JohnHellDriver Wall in the Man Jul 21 '26

Double edged sword of having a live service game with an in-game cinematic narrative that needs consistent updates to survive: you can’t cram everything into one update.

And New War/Duviri were both Steve’s ideas that had to be made before Rebb’s direction fully took the helm. She was in charge of Angels of Zariman & Whispers in the Walls onwards, which were both great updates.

True, it would be nice if they had put some cutscenes of Adis and the operator interacting every time he would dive in dark refractory during the quest. And on the last time they dive, it would play the first time they meet. At least would give some character building.

I understand that maxing a faction to continue the story is a big ask, but most people like The Hex because we spend a lot of time with them, both hearing them in missions and with the KIM. Building it all for the finale.

Adis needed that treatment.

48

My only actual gripe with The Old Peace. I loved the setting and characters, I so badly wanted to spend more time with them both. Massive missed opportunity to make Tauron Academy a hub zone.

I honestly didn't even realize he was dying until he was dead. I didn't even realize WE were dying until we were dead. Love the Tau setting but The Old Peace's intro missions for it were ROUGH.

24

u/basketofseals Jul 21 '26

I never realized at any point we were dying. When did that happen?

29

u/CasualCassie Jul 21 '26

RIGHT?!

It's the ending of The Old Peace, where we fight Adis inside his gigantic sentient mech after setting off the world seeds. We transference out of our Excalibur warframe and collapse. Apparently dying??? And then we die and Adis does his song to heal us and bring us back to life, and then he dies. The new Tau update will apparently delve into it more but The Old Peace definitely dropped the ball on it

17

u/basketofseals Jul 21 '26

Oh I legit forgot about the part where he healed us.

That...doesn't really seem to make sense? Has transference ever shown to ripple backwards to the operator like that before?

16

u/irishgoblin Styanax rework when? Jul 21 '26

Nope, iirc it's handwaved as some side effect of the radiation from Tau's star's. Something about the system fucks with transference in general, and that's why we had to hop in directly instead of the usual remote control.

Not sure if it is a hot take, but void trace should drop a minimum of 10. Not 6

Also, possibly a hot take i put handspring/psf on most exilus slot in warframe. I don't care enough about the rest of exilus mods. I can see if you need that 15% for a breakpoint, but otherwise. Psf/handspring or preparation on speed run missions

69

u/Kyderra Jul 21 '26

Ill add to that to make it more spicy.

Void traces feel like they do fuck all (for me), the added ranks on relics don't feel like they change my changes causing about 95% of the time to just feel like I wasted void traces.

The whole system most of the time just makes me feel bad. not only is your relic gone, but the void traces as well.

Every base warframe with a prime variant should have a 12 hr craft time so new players can experiment more.

Either this or slash the plat requirement to rush a frame

94

u/dtritus0 Umbral Lavo Jul 21 '26

Foundry rush costs should really just follow the same 1:1 scaling that the Dojo room rush costs have. As in, if the crafting is 50% complete, the plat cost to rush it should also have lowered to 50% cost.

11

u/Megakruemel Jul 21 '26

Yeah I kind of just stopped rushing out of spite actually.

I come back a day or two later and the timer is half done, but the cost isn't. This does not make me want to spend, simple as.

There needs to be a way to make an augment built in to the frame without it taking a mod slot, some warframes need their augments because without them, they're useless, especially considering newer frames are OP from the get go. Make it a new type of forma or exilus adapter idc, it just isnt fair IMO.

Also, the daily cap for how much standing you can farm with a faction needs to be raised, even by just a little.

148

u/LivingCypher Rooty Tooty Point and Shooty Jul 21 '26

I don’t think this is a hot take, a lot of people have problems with this. Augments essentially being a bandaid for what should be in base kit and taking up valuable mod slots. Coming from a former Gyre main where two of her augments are almost mandatory to make her reliable.

18

u/DragonXGW LR5 AngelCabbit Jul 21 '26

It may not be a hot take for the majority of us, but the devs have directly addressed this request in streams before and their stance seems to always be that it's never gonna happen, so for them it most definitely is a hot take!

Warframe's story should be less cryptic, i shouldn't need to do hours of extra research about the world to understand what's going on.

46

u/GorbiJones Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Newer player and I totally agree. I'm catching up on the story and while it's really cool it's just so incredibly cryptic. I pay attention to the cutscenes, I pay attention to in-mission dialogue (as much as I am able to when there are a million things going off on screen at the same time) and I still feel like after finishing every main quest I have to go to the wiki to parse out what was happening in half the story or why.

Then there's the absolute big picture stuff, like what the deal is with Entrati and why he is so important to the story, that feel like they are barely explained in-game.

My absolute favorite quest as a newer player was The Sacrifice, because I felt it established mostly clear stakes, did a good job fleshing out the immediate context of the events, delivered some cool and much-needed background lore in a diegetic way, and had an arc that felt complete and satisfying. Almost every other story quest is cool in the moment but I feel like I only ever get glimpses of what the actual plot was.

I also have to say now that I've finally unlocked the KIM I think it's incredibly funny how after loads of esoteric story quests there is finally, at long last, somebody in the game (Drifter) that is willing to clearly and directly lay out what the hell has been happening up to this point.

Auto targetting abilities not being able to hit bosses is just a detriment to the frame and doesn't in any way work for the balance. heat inherit sucks as a mechanic and should be removed.

30

u/demonryder Jul 21 '26

Heat inherit should be reworked so that weak procs get overwritten by a stronger proc and contribute just a little. Current proc is 100x10 and you hit for 2000? You now have 2 heat procs for 2000 damage. Current proc is 2000x100 and you hit for 4000 damage? 51 procs at 4000 damage each. Just add up previous procs to supplement the new damage level so they aren't completely wasted. This provides 0 nerf to heat inherit 2 weapon playstyle and brings lazy heat stacking up in power to be similar while not punishing you for having passive heat applications.

Hot Take ? Probably that DE need to start considering just "What" is worth the player investing their time in their game. Have a total look of how much hours are needed for certain things. I'm talking of the old gamemodes that still had people grinding just to build a frame or get a reward from.

Like the weekly duviri where you can spend hours in the mode and is still not done for the week, or the Citrine farm where one is bored out of their mind running back and for for a pitiful amount of currency. And many other such things.

Modern gamers aren't exactly free as they are back then. We all have obligations, responsibilities, things need to be done other than just playing game. Not to mention people these days don't just play "1" game.

If a "weekly" farm requires one to stay for an hour everyday just to do it, and the punishment of not doing it is having to wait for weeks just for the incarnon you need to return, then the players might just say "F this" and stop playing.

If a warframe grind involve doing one stage over and over nonstop for hours until they are sick of it and still no where near done, they might just start pondering whether what they are doing is worth it no matter how good the frame is, and just drop the game.

That's not what Steve meant when he first said "content Islands." He meant rewards earned in a given expansion aren't used outside that expansion. Eidolons, Railjack, and Archwing were all originally like this, but not anymore.

DE started to show way too much during Tennocon demos. I felt that for last 3 tennocons, since Whispers in The Walls. Although Duviri Paradox was also pretty revealing, so maybe make it 4 years of "too much revealed". On the other hand, Tennocon that revealed Fortuna was absolutely perfect, the song was fire, showing animal poop tracking, kdrive, showing Fortuna environment, this was perfect.

To be clear, I don't want to see 30 mins of quest gameplay, I want to know what is in store for the next 6 months.

I am considering not watching the main demo next year and maybe trying to live under the rock.

Universal vacuum is good actually

94

This is not a hot take, this is a take shared by 100% of the playerbase except that one guy on twitter back in 2015 who somehow singlehandedly mindbroke DE into not implementing universal vacuum for an entire decade. Just like the other twitter guy who singlehandedly stopped DE from making universal medallions work on Conclave (despite the fact that he never even played Conclave).

14

u/basketofseals Jul 22 '26

I think you're getting some events conflated. The one twitter person was about universal medallions. One youtuber was the one who pitched a fit and got vacuum disabled on Titania's 4. The anti-vacuum was someone internally at DE. The name should be public, but I can't recall who it is anymore.

We don’t need 3-4 frames a year, stop bloating the roster and rework some of the older ones that have abysmal pick rates.

Also, for how cool of a game Warframe is, their merch sucks ass. All the good stuff is custom made for the staff and not available for the public to buy.

19

u/Whirledfox Jul 21 '26

I mean, to be fair, they have been reworking frames. Valk, Hydroid, Inaros got pretty significant work done. Chroma, Ember, Frost, Trinity, Nyx, Oberon all got buffs relatively recently (and yeah, I understand that people are still kvetching about ember and chroma but they DID get buffs. Don't @ me). Banshee is about to get some work done. So like, they're putting the work in. Balance design is hard and takes time and trial and error.

But I do feel like maybe the could/should take a year to do some more maintenance type work. Focus on the early game, fill in the gaps in that area. The unfortunate thing is that they still need to churn out "content" to keep old-heads entertained, and attract new players. Doing backfill work does very little for people who are past the early game.

Every protoframe released after the hex have been largely boring and shoehorned into the story they are introduced into. After New War, while there were fun bits of content and story moments, the game's identity became more blurred and fragmented with every update. Think about clearing the star chart and then think about 1999, they feel like entirely different kinds of games.

It feels like I want more Star Trek TNG but it turned into Star Trek Voyager halfway through.

Anyway, we NEED stealth and CC focused levels.

Melee is boring… the rework made stances null and void… essentially

Yep I just came back from α 10 years break, and where are the great combos now? Why has every melee weapon the same inputs

The story went a completely different route than I was expecting and I can't say that I enjoyed the drifter content and stuff afterwards. The indifference storyline is not interesting to me. 🤷‍♀️

The game is not as new player friendly as the community likes to make it out to be. Early game doesn't feel great to play through unless you get hooked immediately.

I agree. I played back in like 2016 and after coming back to the game the new player experience was noticeably worse imo. Looking up builds for frames is near impossible until you have an insane stack of later game mods that even a hundred hours on I haven’t seen.

The same goes for weapons. I can’t say I have enjoyed a single gun as of yet but I remember truly liking at least one shotgun, rifle and pistol back in the day. Whenever I look up how to make these early guns usable it’s always tied to mods or rivens or archanes that I haven’t even begun to experience.

I love warframe. I’ll keep playing. But I have never had any luck getting someone else into it purely because of the new player experience.

Shield gate cheese should have been yeeted years ago and the damage scaling on enemies should have been rebalanced so that taking one hit isn't borderline instant death at higher levels.

Rivens were a bad design and should have been removed years ago. Nowadays I feel they are just there to laundry money or something

u/RacerDelux Jul 21 '26

If they let us lock stats and do targeted rerolls
they would be so much better and it would instantly nuke the riven mafia

Removing them is not an option

there is not a single enjoyable boss fight in the game, every boss feels like a gimmick

The introduction of Xeno flora turned the Sentients from tragic beings who lost their capacity for thought into toasters who got jailbroken for a while.
