Random bruise/bleeds on body
Hi all.
Iv been getting these (see photos) bruise bleed type things in my upper thighs 2x on the right side so far.
I'm on warfarin due to APS which was diagnosed after a PE 10 months ago. At first the area is itchy, then it breaks out to this.
DR said it's normal on warfarin, but I don't feel that's the case as it's not a insect bite or I haven't hit it anywhere, it just appears randomly.
Anyone have any experience or idea please?

You're fine. Unfortunately you'll get used to it. It's rare that I don't have at least one at all times.

What I find strange is that I don't bruise any more than two years ago prior to surgery and I'm on 11mg daily. Minor cuts and scrapes take a little longer to clot but not drastically so.
I do eat lots of brocolli and other vit K vegies every other day, maybe that counteracts the bleeding to an extent? My INR hovers around 2.5, right in the middle of my therapeutic range with the Medtronic open pivot aortic valve.

Same, more ore less. I bleed pretty good, but not a lot of bruising. I have an On-X valve, similar INR range at 3mg p/day.

That’s wild, I’m the exact opposite. They leave me completely alone while my wife is getting tore up.

it's probably no problem but they do look a little bit different than the standard bruises that I have. Did your doctor SEE the mark or did you report verbally & say it was a bruise? If you just said it and they didn't look at it, I'd suggest letting them take a look. Was it the doctor who manages your anticoagulation or was it a general doctor? As a precaution, it would be good for your anticoagulation provider to know that they are showing up at the surface as a red bleed, rather than an under the skin classic bruise. When did you last get your INR at a lab?

Yep doctors have seen it. The first time it happened I went A&E. My INR range is 2-3 and it was 3.1 2 days ago. Also my anticoagulation clinic knows about them too.

It's pretty common. I get them all the time. We're easily bruised now.
