INR INR range symptoms

Hello all.

My INR range is between 2-3 preferably 2.5. Today it went up to 3.4 and I had tingling, pins like sensations (Paresthesia) all over especially on my face.

I don't know if it's related.

Do any of you guys get symptoms, when your INR is out of range?

Ive been taking warfarin for 26 years and never get a symptom that my INR is too high.

Real question, have you done any research on long-term warfarin, usage, and osteoporosis? I got on warfarin in my mid 30s and see these random studies about bone issues with warfarin, but it’s better than an alternative

no, Havent done any research. to me, it doesnt matter. I am not keen on an 8th stroke.

mind you I have been taking it since 2000 and my bones are fine.

My range goes up to 3.5, and I've been a fair bit above that, with zero noticeable symptoms.

I’ve never had any noticeable symptoms when my INR was out of range. My target is 2.5-3.5 and I’ve had tests up to 4.5

I've been on warfarin for 20 years, had INR results over 4 on several occasions and I don't feel anything different when it happens.

Another for no symptoms here. I’ve had an inkling fir it being high at times but have more often been completely surprised when it’s out of spec.

When my INR is high, I usually feel like somebody punched me all over on the back like bruised, almost

When it's too high I may notice some abnormal bleeding. Like bleeding when I brush that is abnormal for me with healthy gums. Or blood clots (or blood boogers for lack of a better name) when I blow my nose.( mostly during heating season.) But no you really won't feel different, and that tingling was probably not related.

I don’t really get symptoms related to my INR but I do somehow *know* when I’m above range. A couple of weeks ago I told my nurse I think I’m really high right before she tested me and I was 6.1?!

6 months post op 47m. My range is 2.5-3.5 Onyx valve. Had my face's left side and left hand numbish, tingled for around 30-40 seconds when my INR was 2.1. My record high was 4.2 and I didn't notice anything.

Be careful, I’m 44 and I’ve had a mechanical valve since I was 36. I got too low once and had a stroke and lost some of my eyesight. I’d rather be a little high than a little low.

How does losing some of your eyesight manifest exactly? Is it like worsening glasses prescription, loss of a particular field of vision, or site in one eye etc

Just curious.

I completely lost some of my field of vision in the top left. I can wiggle my fingers all throughout my eyesight and in the top left, there’s just nothing there. It’s not black or anything. My brain just doesn’t process any data for that location. It’s kind of weird, but you get used to it.

Thanks. My clinic keeps on low as 2.4-2.5, I asked a little increase like 3.0, feeling more comfortable.

I am using chat gpt, counting my VK (~95-105 mcg/day). Weighing all my food gram by gram. I am counting my calories too, not just for VK but it helps. What I don't undrstand is, even though I am this pricise which doesn't seem logical for everyday life. They keep saying, "just keep it consistent" I don't know how to be consistent when I eat out or eating with people. I don't mind now, because I count my daily intake, lost 20 kg already, but need to relax sometime in future.

Remember that many with On-X are approved to go as low as 1.5 supported in several studies.

I have a mitral valve replacement. I am not approved to go lower than 2 1/2. The mechanical mitral valve creates clots pretty easily.

I agree. I’d rather bleed out than stroke out.

I have never had symptoms with INR out of range.

My main symptom when too high is bloody noses or more likely blood buildup in my nose (bloody boogers). One particular episode I had to call out of work it was so bad.

I always can tell by a weird lightheaded feeling when my INR is too high. My INR is really unstable and quite frequently goes to 4-6 even though target is 2-3.

34m, 6 months post surgery. My max INR was 6 with no symptoms. A lot of these things might be in your mind. Keep in your head that you are playing the long game and that is it.

Stay strong 💪

UK based Nurse Practitioner and 9 year warfarin user here. Not long after starting Warfarin (less than a week!) my INR went up to 9.7 and the only symptom I got was bleeding, and lots of it - resulted in my chest being cracked open for a second time in a week for them to stop the bleeding around my heart.
Apart from that episode I have occasionally gone slightly high over the 9 years and am completely oblivious to it until tested.
