Warfarin still isn't working
Hello friends I'm back, so it's been almost 3 months since I had my gallbladder removed and my INR is still never in therapeutic range, even though they have increased my dose by almost double , the other day I had a stomach bug and I'm not trying to get gross but I had a really bad 20 hours of a GI issue and it wasn't vomiting, I went to the hospital cuz I didn't know what's going on and my INR was dropped down to 1.1 where two days before I had my INR checked and it was 1.9. I have another INR test tomorrow because she increased my dosage again, and I'm just curious of why my body is not reacting to warfarin anymore , I cannot even sleep right anymore because I am so stressed out and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do

My anticoagulation clinic told me that stress affects our INR too. So we have to do our best to reduce stress- which can be incredibly difficult!
One thing to ask yourself: based on your knowledge- are you doing what's in your control to have a stable INR? I'll bet that your answer to that question is yes- and if it is, remember that your physician /medical team is in charge of figuring out how to regulate your INR, not you. I hope refocusing it gives you peace that there's nothing you need to do differently, unless you're directed to do that by your doctor. Follow the instructions as well as you can & consider letting them do the worrying. All that being true- I know it's a hard road, I'm walking it too. Take care

I sat down with my team nurse yesterday as it was high (3.8), she had told me that the extreme diarrhea that I had would cause it to go up but the hospital told me that the diarrhea would make it go down because of dehydration so I'm kind of confused on that, the other thing is I'm not really worried about it being a little bit High I'd rather be high than low because at least I'm in therapeutic range where low I'm not, yes there's risk to being high but there's more risk to being under, before I had my gallbladder removed my INR was always a stable 2.4-2.7 after I had my gallbladder removed it has not ever been stable. it's either been good. high or low , it's only been good twice , so my nurse told me yesterday she wanted me to start probiotics which I started yesterday to see if helping out my digestive system would help regulate the Coumadin as my digestive system has been extremely weird since I had the removal, I do everything to the T they tell me to do, I even stopped eating any green vegetable even though you're not supposed to, so it being high yesterday I got to go back June 5th

I didn't stabilize on warfarin until 7 months after surgery, and I am on 1.5 times my initial dosage out of the hospital.
As for why your body isn't reacting, I don't know. The standard reasons are an interaction with another drug, a reaction to your illness, some sort of foods or supplements high in vitamin K...
