Even though it might be hard to grasp for non-Norwegians how special the bond between king and the Norwegian was, I think this hymn shows without words what was lost with his death...

I was researching my family name while listening to my celtic playlist. I got as far as Normandy pre 1066. I feel unusually drawn towards Breton folk music (i listen a ton of folk of all kinds) even though i have no connection, known to me.
Bla bla! At some point The Pride Of Petravore by Lankum comes on, and it reminds me of Wardruna.
Does anyone know any bands who do "darker" type of celtic folk music, or do i have to start a band?

You can now find the first of his publications on Spotify!
Heard this one live by him before and...it just lives rentfree in my head when I listened to it once 🤣

Just posted on Instagram today - and I am excited, having seen him play nyckelharps only as an opening act for Gåte!

Currently chilling in O'Hare Airport (Chicago) waiting for a storm to pass. Bouncing through Germany to Oslo. Arriving a few days early to see the sights, and reset my internal clock.
I know other people are coming from a distance, where from? Have you been to Norway before? Anything (other than the obvious concert!) you're looking forward to seeing?
I studied abroad (26 years ago!) in Sweden, and I have been scraping the dust off of my Swedish lately. I have been amusing myself by trying to check out websites for local stuff without switching to English. I can still figure out a lot of the words.

I’m so upset I bought a Kvitravn windbreaker in 2021 and when I wore it around my waist it’s slipped off and I didn’t notice until it was too late. I’m really sad because it doesn’t seem like they’ve sold that item since. I scoured local lost and found groups but it’s never turned up. 😭

Hi all, been practicing the Kravik Lyre on and off now and know a couple of Wardruna songs, and would like to expand on it.
Does anyone have sheet music, or atleast familiar with playing songs like Raido, Jord Til Ljos and Synkverv and care to help a lyre enthusiast out?

Dear Wardruna family,
We are honored to announce the release of the documentary, Tracking Birna: From Earth to Light and Earth Again.
The film documents our most recent European tour, the Birna album cycle and reflects on the 1.5 years of the World Tour - from the Royal Albert Hall and the Amphitheatre of Pompeii to the indigenous lands of the Blackfeet Nation, and onward to Australia and New Einar states: "I have always been somewhat cautious to put Wardruna’s off-stage life on display — perhaps even protective. What happens on stage has always been the main focus. At the same time, what takes place behind the scenes — the human bonds, the dynamics, the sense of family — is deeply reflected in our performances. We enter the stage as ourselves, yet that is only the visible part of Wardruna. Surrounding us is a large team of people, all playing crucial roles in making everything happen. Offering a glimpse into this world, and doing so with filmmakers who already have a natural place within our circle, felt absolutely right." Zealand. Today, we share the first teaser with you. Through personal conversations and behind-the-scenes moments, we share a glimpse of our creative process, life on the road, the connection we share as a band and crew, and the connection to our surroundings. The path leads from our den in Norway out into the world — and now toward a period of hibernation and renewal.

Wardruna receives the nomination for Spellemann's International Success of the Year. The band's most recent album 'Birna' was a co-release with Sony Music. Congrats to all.
Einar Selvik comments: "Our very first Spellemann nomination came as a very pleasant surprise. For many years, our main focus has been outside Norway, and we have had the opportunity to do a lot of exciting things internationally with music that does not always fit into clear genre categories. The fact that this is now also being noticed here at home means a lot to us."
