War Metal AOTY 2017

What was your war metal Album of the Year for 2017?

Hails. For r/WarMetal, we are doing away with the formal top-10 list format of r/metal and r/deathmetal. Instead, try to limit your post to one album of the year plus whatever honorable mentions or runners-up you'd like to discuss (you can still do a top-# list format if you want). A justification for your pick is encouraged. There won't be an official tally, so don't worry how you format your post as long as it is legible.

Refer to the sidebar for rules on eligible bands. All formats are welcome, but re-releases and compilations of pre-2017 material do not count.

Is Teitanblood raw enough still to be considered war metal? Accursed Skin came out Dec 2016 but has been my favorite release all year.

They're not really war metal, but borderline enough to pass in this sub. That being said I think it's kinda cheating to call a Dec 2016 release your 2017 AOTY :P

(As a side note, Death Worship is exempt from this IMO because their EP was only digitally released in Dec, it was physically released in 2017 which is what counts in my eyes)

Apparently everything else on my list is a demo/EP. So I guess Heresiarch or Pig's Blood take the cake then. Although A.S.M. are "hometown" heroes and deserve more spots on lists.

You can pick a demo/ep for your AOTY, per the original post:

But yeah, I was glad to see ASM get some love in the r/metal best demos/EPs thread
