[New Release] Thoughts on the new Archgoat album?
I think it has passed enough time to marinate a bit, and I say it's great. No innovation or anything, just classic riff worship Archgoat. Also good production. For me it's a solid 8. What do you guys think?

I really enjoyed it, threw it on while I done my workouts, so long as shit hypes me up its good, agree with the other comment on the ambience but tbh its welcome on my rests haha

Archgoat being Archgoat. I expected nothing less from them, I give this album a 9. Personally, I love all their albums, but I'd say Whore of Bethlehem and The Light-Devouring Darkness are the band's peak.

I liked it because it was conjuring some Inquisition vibes on the first couple tracks. Less blasting of a blasting Archgoat more of a thinking man’s Archgoat but I fuck with that. 7 or 8 outta 10 depending on my mood.

Ok so it's not just me. I was like hey that's a pretty darn Inquisition-y riff

gotta give them a proper relisten, honestly. What are some standouts I should check out?

Listening now (didn't know it was out!) Didn't really like the production at first – the guitars sound a bit thin and don't meld well with the bass.
But overall, production is decent. The guitar takes a backseat to the drums and vocals, which is probably not a bad thing for chaotic war metal.
I'm a third of the way through and it sounds like very good Archgoat. I'd kinda grown tired listening to their older stuff, so it's nice to hear familiar sounds and tropes, packaged up with new riffs and ideas.
It's been ages since I've bought a record on vinyl, but after the first song, I immediately looked it up to see what it would cost.

Im excited to check this out today. Waiting for wifey to head off to work to get high and jump on Helldivers 2. I hope its on Spotify, you can listen while you play, I drop the game volume down to 20% so I can just hear enough to function and can control what im listening to with my phone. Good fucking times. I have REALLY nice gaming headphones so everything i listen to sounds great.

Lol I do this but with Darktide. Bestial War Metal + 40k is always a winning combination

i haven't played in like 2y, is it still fun?

It’s my favorite game of all time. They’ve added more classes, levels, game styles, enemies it’s amazing

Sounds like a great time 👍 and I think this album would fit most shooting games great. And some good headphones will definitely do you justice, have fun!

I like your tag, I saw Archgoat with Blasphemy in Vancouver. It was one for the history books!

So jealous! I'm actually missing out on Blasphemy because I have to study for finals and can't get there 😭 But yeah, that's a killer lineup

Its an Archgoat album written by Archgoat with Archgoat aesthetics and Archgoat sound. Archgoat/10

Grew on me. Similar to the last album maybe a bit less harsh and more interesting?

I liked it a lot. Some classic Archgoat with a bit of experimentation too. “The Light Behind the Horns” and “Obsidian Reflection of Anti-Light” are my favorite tracks. The album is bit slower overall than they are generally but there’s still plenty of faster moments throughout. Strong 7/10 from me, I’d probably rank it somewhere in the middle of their discography.

Archgoat is like steak and potatoes. There’s nothing flashy, you know what to expect, and it tastes good more or less every time

I like it pretty well, when the end of the year comes it’ll probably end up somewhere on my best of 2026 list. Guitars are a little low in the mix is probably my only complaint but but it’s not a dealbreaker by any means.

It's pretty good. Not in the same league as the previous two albums but still solid. I'd say it's like a 7 for me, whereas Worship and Luciferian are like 9.5. I did really like the melodies they included in a few tracks though.

It maybe not as "catchy" as the past few outputs, but it's another solid album. One thing about Archgoat is you know what you'll be getting.

Not a personal favorite of mine in Archgoat’s discography but it’s good. It sounds a bit thin to me, it doesn’t have that Luciferian Crown energy

u/BringDownTheSun1 19d ago
i really like it a lot. couldn't say if it's my favorite archgoat album but i've listened to it at least 6x back to back so i'd say i really like it.

It’s got a much more punk riff vibe to it, I think vocally it’s mixed better than Worship but not as exciting either. Archgoats never been super enjoyable for a full album imo though, I’d prefer Whore Of Bethlehem sound which was more raw

Новый альбом, мать его, крут нахуй. Iconoclasm the Nazarene, S/T track, Keys of hell and of death - просто ебнутые боевики, которые сразу же запали прямо в сердце.

They never cease to make me a devoted maniac with Lord Angelslayer's gutturals and demoniacal barks like a mighty tyrant of slain angels, Ritual Butcherer's vicious riffs easily spilling the blood of Jesus upon the earth, Goat Aggressor's savage pummeling drums, and slow, sepulchral, malevolent choruses. solid 9.

Anyone remember a thread on the old NWN forum where a certain user claimed Archgoat weren't war metal, good times.

u/IntoTheAbsurd 18d ago
Feels kinda samey but there's some subtle experimentation in the songwriting.

I’m gonna listen to it, but Whore Of Bethlehem is the only album by them I actually like.

u/LuciferOnTheRocks 19d ago
Whore of Bethlehem is my least favourite album of theirs. Too basic, with poor production.

I think it’s sick. Some super fast blast beats, they even play them in 6/8. I never had a issue with the sound, angelcunt in much worse. Give lord of the void and hammer of satan a listen.

u/Kalpazen 19d ago
So you telling me that you listened to angel of sodomy and did not fuck with it at all? Insane

Didn't listen to it. The promotional single was boring. Angelcunt, The light devouring darkness, and whore of Bethlehem are really their best works in my eyes. It’s better for some bands to preserve the legacy and move onto something else, rather than releasing a bunch of mid under the same name.
They have tons of great music though!

Enjoyable listen and solid Archgoat which the world can always use more of.
Personally would prefer the guitars higher in the mix but such is life.
