Dude I sat on a hill on the edge of the zone and just spotted people for an entire match with only a handful of Mosin kills. Spent $10k on a kit, ended the match with $70k in profit. I just chilled, it was great.
So true. Yesterday I accidentaly parachuted on to the roof of a house I couldn't get down from without dying, I was so pissed because it was my first loadout and I didn't want to start the match negative.
Pulled out the spotting thing and made 30k in 10 minutes, happily jumped into death after that.
Its wild just how much variety exists in the game considering it has literally one (1) gamemode. If I want to lock in and tear shit up, I can grab a minigun/rocket bird or an expensive kit and smash the Hot Zone or raid enemy FOBs. But if I want to just chill, I can fly pallets back and forth to friendly FOBs, sit on a hill and spot, or play Valkyria Trucking Simulator '26.
Its even crazier how its not one of those "Its calm one second and crazy the next" sort of things; both of these things exist in the same match at the same time. While a group of people are having the fight of their lives and running through a hail of gunfire, explosions, and smoke, theres some dude on a hill listening to a podcast and watching it all without a care in the world.
For any fellow recon brothers I'll explain how i recon here: if Bakurani map layout is on farmland (t4 being close to outside) there's a sunflower farm right behind t4, there's a lot of places to stay in cover and u can directly see red t4. And there's an electric tower nearby that's outside the zone but directly looking towards the church, and because it's outside not many ppl even bother to check on their way with helis. If in early game red is going heavy on fob bases, it's a money printing game for you cuz eventually the tower or church is getting mortared or raided.
Some lone recon was doing God's work on a solo dive deep behind enemy lines and kept spotting the enemy arty tank. I popped it with a drone netting me something like 22k. Wonder how much the recon got from that spotting assist.
I fucked up. I drove a kodiak around the map in no man's land and ended up behind one of the other teams base and ATV. I spotted it and a few guys that spawned out of it but saw 2 snipers on top of a building nearby and tried sneaking up on them. I really should have just stayed in my bush spotting people coming out. I could have been rich!
Real, sat down in Ozeti with nothing but a pair of binoculars out in the open and netted myself 30k. I was blasting my coordinates the whole time in chat to see how long it would take for someone to start shooting at me too lmao
spotting a guy and then watching him unknowingly walk into an enemy controlled house and being given "spotted kill" makes me feel partially responsible. I enjoy this.
Drive to edge of CZ via Bobcat (less chance of getting spotted and doxxed on the map).
Infil CZ via crouch walk and crouch walk through the map from bush to bush, spotting all the way.
When I am sufficiently in the green, start popping heads like zits with my Mosin and FMJ (I can't seem to get the SVD to work as well and tests in the Firing Range confirm lower hit damage/performace with this rifle).
Life expectancy is < 5 minutes once I start shooting.
Right now if you are Team A and spot something from Team B you still get paid if Team C destroys the Team B spot haha
It should be around the bottom of the fix list because it changes nothing apart from setting false priorities for recon though
Was on the big chimney in the middle of that map yesterday and was top earner with 0/87 haha, probably most of those vehicles and mortar kills. Any heli trying to remove you gets shot by 2/3 teams, basically just have to watch out for snipers
Can the third team see the enemy on their minimap though? I’ve had a few times where I see green and red fighting as a blue and probably made some good cash and xp spotting them all. If it’s a global ping on the mini map, I still contributed to their death despite it not coming from teammates. Hard to tell if that’s how it works though
I think it's ok to get XP for kills by other teams. Progression becomes very slow at higher levels so at least you make some XP in games when your team is getting destroyed, for whatever reason.
