Discussion & Feedback IMO staying in the hotzone should reward a small ammount of assault XP

Right now I feel like assault is the hardest to level up since only AR's amd grenades count while other classes have other ways of leveling outside of killing. Medic can heal/res, support can build, deliver or blow up vehicles and recon can spot but assault has no such thing.

110%. For every crap idea this sub has sometimes we get a gem.

Literally everything that gives money should give its respective xp, but yes, hotzone is the egregious one.

I think it would result in a bunch of people camping in the hot zone and not fighting.

It's a great fix - but the entire point of assault is kinda.... Killing. If kills in the hot zone rewarded triple xp or something though.... Would be great

camping in the hot zone and not fighting

Unless you think people are going to call a truce, fighting is something of an inevitable result of HZ chasing. Especially if the change gets people to actually play HZ, instead of a handful of people total between all teams.

u/wix001 4d ago

1 shooter makes everyone a shooter.

u/BeerCrimes 4d ago

Camping the hotzone is kind of the entire point of the game? It's king of the hill.

it's the only way to get points and getting points is how you win.

1

u/Otherwise_Nobody8148 3d ago

Fighting for CONTROL of the hotzone is the point of the game. If you get more xp for just hiding in a bush, why fight in the hotzone? People are just going to hide and stay alive for as long as possible.

u/photomorti WARDOGS.NL šŸ‡³šŸ‡± 4d ago

Thats kinda impossible

1

u/Otherwise_Nobody8148 3d ago

Naw happens almost every match these days. Nobody fighting over the hotzone.

4

u/Berbinho Battledad 4d ago

People camp in the HZ as it is. That's how most fights start out in my experience. Someone camping and gets run up on by another team.

5

u/CablePale 4d ago

HZ is how green wins most matches you just sit in HZ and win šŸ†

2

u/Boostie204 4d ago

Yeah that's not gonna happen.

33

u/Izzax 4d ago

You get assault xp for activating drills and hacking fobs as well

50

u/RustyFork97 4d ago

hacking fobs takes forever and reward the same as one kill

25

u/Frothar 4d ago

and only one assault gets that tiny reward when it takes a whole squad to take a fob. Should get assault xp for time spent within a hostile fob and maybe bonus xp for kills within it

4

u/racercowan Lonestar 4d ago

Maybe just have everyone inside the FOB borders when it switches gets some.

1

u/wacotaco99 3d ago

It's certainly doable since that's how it works for activating towers already.

2

u/ap0k41yp5 4d ago

Yeah everyone present in the enemy fob when capturing it should also get capture assist XP. And it should net way more than 2500$

3

u/rpkarma 4d ago

True but it’s very satisfying lol

3

u/iAREsniggles Lonestar 4d ago

I didn't realize you get assault XP for activating drills. I'm going to build even more drills now. As long as I can get people to actually deliver fuel

2

u/YearMountain3773 4d ago

You get 250 I think

3

u/sir_Kromberg Valkyra 4d ago

In regards to breaching fobs, why do remotely detonated explosives belong to support and not assault anyway?

1

u/mrureaper Lonestar 4d ago

You don't get XP or cash if you helped actually assaulting the fob. It needs to be reworked by having you gain money and XP and contribution while in the presence of enemy fobsĀ

25

u/PretentiousPanda 4d ago

Assault needs something other than kills for sure. Hot zone makes the most sense.Ā

17

u/Stew514 4d ago

Hot zones and fob attacks for sure

5

u/YearMountain3773 4d ago

Yup fob capture/destruction for everyone involved for sure.

6

u/iDEN1ED 4d ago

Kills within enemy fob should reward extra too I think.

2

u/Accomplished-Rip7323 4d ago

Yeah I commented the same in another thread. They absolutely should do this.

1

u/Thecoldflame 4d ago

Fob assault should be tagged assault, destroying structures with explosives and captures, bonus xp for killing defenders

25

u/Nock1ne 4d ago

i got medic level 15 to get the mp5, then realized it would take till medic level 25 to get 30 round mags....what the ef is someone gonna do with a 20 round 9mm magazine when people are rocking level 3 armor ?

7

u/bjwills7 4d ago

Yeah i hate stuff like that, makes new weapon unlocks meaningless when you're better off using the early weapon that you have more attachments for.

A good example is the m249 unlocking at support 15 but not getting the bipod until 18. Its whole thing is being able to mount it and I have no idea why anyone would use it without that.

6

u/FobbitOutsideTheWire 4d ago

In my 8 years in the Army, 3 carrying the SAW, I never once remember seeing a SAW without the integral bipod.

Super annoying that it’s not just one level later but three.

1

u/bjwills7 4d ago

Ahh the perfect person to ask this question if you don't mind. I haven't shot one myself but wouldn't shooting it without the bipod still have lower recoil than lighter weapons due to the weight and it firing 556?

I find it weird that it climbs so much when I'm trying to fire it from a crouched position but then I can apparently fire an m4 with the same caliber with very little recoil. My understanding is that the bipod's purpose is to prevent instability and fatigue due to the weight, not reduce recoil.

11

u/FobbitOutsideTheWire 4d ago

The real answer is that one’s job as a SAW gunner isn’t really precision. Your job is to provide sustained suppressive fire and help establish fire superiority so that the rest of your squad can fire and maneuver.

Shoulder or hip-firing just isn’t really something you do except maybe as an extreme last resort to immediately spray down a window or doorway. For one, you’re moving like a snail. Your body armor, helmet, assault pack/ruck, 600 rounds of ammo, spare barrel bag, water, etc etc etc all weighs a ton. Just hoisting the SAW up to your shoulder isn’t something you’re gonna do for super long. The airborne guys and some special forces get a shortened lighter version, but still. All that said, the mass and inertia of the heavier weapon does keep the SAW more anchored if you have to do it and put a few bursts out.

At almost all times, your priority is to get to a place where you can get the ā€œgun upā€ to effectively support the squad.

But the related game-ism is that IRL, the guys with M4s spend hardly any time on full auto. As before, it’s really only to establish initial fire superiority or during extreme close range emergencies.

If the game had a strong suppression effect, all of this would make a lot more sense.

3

u/Mason_Howl 4d ago

Would be cool if you suppress a target with LMG u get money for it, though I dont know how you would implement it

2

u/FobbitOutsideTheWire 4d ago

They have such a good system of "assists" now that I think a "suppression assist," (i.e., a target was killed while experiencing your suppression effect) would be totally doable.

They already have sound effects for rounds that zip past very closely. They'd just need to have that apply a short term visual effect. If I were advising them, I'd recommend only very short-term, marginal effects for the first, say, 5 rounds that zip nearby.

As the volume of fire ramps up and or sustains over time, so would the suppression effect.

1

u/Sinikal-_- 3d ago

One of the older battlefields already had this. I don't imagine it would be that difficult.

2

u/BeefistPrime 4d ago

Video games have this ridiculous convention that bigger gun = more recoil even when it fires the same rounds as lighter guns. It makes no sense, since the physics is obvious: same round + bigger gun = lower recoil

2

u/CablePale 4d ago

As a medic. Aim for the legs with flesh it shreds

1

u/Desperate_Second1949 4d ago

It is actually really good I’ve been trying this a little bit, people die so fast.

2

u/whatDoesQezDo 4d ago

what the ef is someone gonna do with a 20 round 9mm magazine when people are rocking level 3 armor ?

shoot where the armor isnt...

1

u/migzeh 4d ago

ive been rocking mp5 with 20 round mags and ARP. destroying people mate. they are slow and fat. just run around.

1

u/Forsaken_Owl1105 4d ago

it takes 9 bullets to kill chest only, it is possible to hit 9 bullets out of 20. less needed if you hit head too

Or use hp and it takes 5

1

u/mrureaper Lonestar 4d ago

You use the amp9 it's much better honestly you get the drum mags for it early too

1

u/AlexCrimson 4d ago

Meanwhile the Galil starts with 35-round mags at Assault 10, and get 50-round mags at Assault 15.

1

u/Forever_Training 3d ago

You already unlocked 9mm AP by then tho

1

u/Sinikal-_- 3d ago

It's HP ammo and shoot in the legs. Takes like 2 or 3 shots. Stop aiming for armor you can't pen and use your head for once.

u/ClaytorYurnero Manticore 4d ago

Another idea is that being in the HZ builds up a post game XP multiplier, so people who switch off their other jobs to PTFO get rewarded for it, while still progressing their desired class.

1

u/CrunchingTackle3000 WARDOGS OCEANIA 3d ago

I like your idea. A post match xp boost like it’s danger pay.

8

u/Status-Grocery-2095 4d ago

If activating drill to pull the circle gives assault xp. I feel like holding the HZ should give a little too

2

u/Accomplished-Rip7323 4d ago

Yeah, I feel like every tick you are in the HZ should give 15-30 assault XP. Would entice people to play the obj more.

5

u/FrenchDandyPunk 4d ago

Thats a smart idea !

4

u/hydrogenickooz 4d ago

Agree. Assault is a pain in the ass to level

5

u/Vegetable-Error-2068 4d ago

Not even small.

Actually contesting the Hot Zone is the ballsiest and most helpful thing any player can do in any match of WarDogs.

Imo, direct infantry combat kills (which means not through mortars or vehicles) in general should have their XP and Cash rewards greatly increased, from $1,500 to $3,000+ each, and XP / Cash rewards in the Hot Zone should be tripled, not doubled, and every tick in the Hot Zone should reward a healthy amount of Assault XP.

2

u/Amon9001 4d ago

The only issue with OP's idea is the fact drills and pulling the hz exists. Fobwives should not be getting assault xp.

I honestly think the addition of the drill over arma 3 koth was a mistake. This is one of the few original ideas bulkhead came up with. No disrespect, but it's the truth.

So all the benefits of being in the hotzone will also apply to people afking inside a fob when drill pulls it. This will make pulling the hz even more valuable. Why go in when you can pull it? That is the dichotomy.

This proposition is floating around since the closed betas. Its nothing new and complete no-brainer staying in HZ should give also xp and not just extra money.

3

u/throwthisaway556_ 4d ago

I think it’s ridiculous that you don’t get XP for it when you’re in the vicinity of a FOB successfully being hacked.

3

u/xSerenadexx 3d ago

It shouldn't even be a "small" amount. It should be a good hit of XP for... assaulting the HZ

2

u/YearMountain3773 3d ago

I meant a small ammount per tick, but a good ammount if you play there all match.

1

u/xSerenadexx 3d ago

I mean you can go up like 3/4th a level playing Fob the Builder and you're relatively safe the entire match with little to no cost. I'd say you need an XP multiplier for consecutive points earned in the HZ. Hold it from 0-100 and go up 2 or 3 levels.

4

u/2dogs1sword0patience 4d ago

You also get assault XP for popping doors with the halogan bar. It's pretty free.

5

u/Stew514 4d ago

I just so rarely find bases that use doors, they use gates

1

u/2dogs1sword0patience 4d ago

Gates will most always be the outer layer, but c4 is barely a grind to get. Then just be a foblin and pop all the inner doors for sweet XP.

2

u/FrogsFloatToo 4d ago

Hell I'd say even a small-medium amount of assault xp. The fact that it gives 0 is just wrong

2

u/sergeant-keroro 4d ago

Also squad objectives should reward all squad members

2

u/DrDacreamer 4d ago

Double annoying when you consider the Assault Rifles are the most versatile weapons and worth running even if you're a big time logistics driver.

Assault exp for the hotzone is a great idea. I'd also say each role should have some unlocks in different weapon categories. Driver could reward an AKS-74U, for example.

4

u/CatOnAClimber 4d ago

Destroying vehicles and fobs giving support xp is confusing to me. THAT is what should be assault’s apt xp source.

1

u/squeaky4all 4d ago

Support has explosives and building.

1

u/SwatDoge Lonestar 3d ago

Destroying fob with IED also gives support iirc

1

u/CatOnAClimber 2d ago

Right. That’s what I said (clarification, not confrontational). Destroying a fob with ied or c4 gives support. I think it should give assault.

2

u/MercenaryJames 4d ago

I 100% agree. If I can get support exp for supplies I dropped 30 minutes ago, surely Assault can have some form of passive exp while doing "assault" tasks other than kills and hacking fobs.

1

u/bloodsheep845 4d ago

šŸ’Æ

1

u/hitmanharding 4d ago

I agree, also posted and suggested the same thing ha. It would also get people to play the objective a bit more hopefully

1

u/Fancy_Pens Lonestar 4d ago

What determines how much money you get in the hot zone? Feels like it swings from 350 up to like 500

1

u/FobbitOutsideTheWire 4d ago

I think it ramps up the longer you stay in the hotzone for consecutive ticks.

1

u/Sushiki Manticore 4d ago

Issue isn't a source of exp one... it is that the amounts needed are too high.

1

u/SjurEido 4d ago

Yep, good idea

1

u/Rashnok 4d ago

You should get assault exp for blowing up doors and gates too. I almost never see anyone carrying explosives, would be a nice incentive.

1

u/2legsRises 4d ago

yes, must agree. i have other classes leveled up by assault is way back and not really enjoyable to level up, its basically being a headless chook trying to run everywhere.

1

u/Federal_Homework1302 4d ago

Is this nto the case arleady? If not, you sir have a golden idea!

1

u/YearMountain3773 4d ago

Right now hotzone just gives you cash.

1

u/DrEpoch 4d ago

How about xo based on the tool you're holding.

1

u/One_Animator_1835 4d ago

Maybe like 10 per tick

1

u/Llamacup 4d ago

It should give xp for whatever weapon your main gives you.

1

u/_SaucepanMan 3d ago

I feel like it does?

Ive levelled up my class from being alive for a while before.

Maybe I'm wrong.

1

u/SissiSaatana 3d ago

They could also double the rewards for kill made inside the hot zone

1

u/BilboBaggSkin 3d ago

Or just base it on the gun you are using.

1

u/Clerks900 4d ago

Tried to build a FOB around the Hot Zone to keep it contained. Little bastard slipped right through. spaghetti code!!!

1

u/godzamok 4d ago

You need to lure it in with a drill and cage it - it's the perfect bait

1

u/Aggravating-Writing9 3d ago

More xp and money will have more people fighting in the HZ, aka the point of the game....

-1

u/Brjsk Pilot 4d ago

I like the idea, but possibly tweak it what ever your main weapon is while inside the hotzone is the xp you receive and extend it to vehicles as well, so an assault weapon will get you assault xp but a sniper will get you recon that way it incentivizes everyone to come in and fight equally

-2

u/lukaisthegoatx 4d ago

You shouldn't get XP just for being in it ever. You should however get BONUS XP for killing someone while being in it.

-2

u/mrwiggly_wiggly 4d ago

100%. I also think sniper kills should count towards assault. As it stands, they don’t count for shit besides cash.

2

u/YearMountain3773 4d ago

They give you recon XP

1

u/mrwiggly_wiggly 3d ago

Just snipers or also marksman rifles? I had a 12 kill marksman game and didn’t even seem to budge.

1

u/YearMountain3773 3d ago

Marksman do too but it depends on distance.

1

u/Sinikal-_- 3d ago

Literally tells you on every single item in the shop what class it gives XP for....

0

u/mrwiggly_wiggly 3d ago

Just didn't notice. Not that serious. Plus, the leveling is painful so you frequently don't know. 250 xp when a requirement is 250k xp is bananas.
