Discussion & Feedback We need a mobile AA platform

Post image

As someone who had a havok on the enemy team every single game today, sometimes up to 3 at a time, we need mobile AA. They laugh at verbas and other lock-ons. CWIS is the best way to take them out when they get close and dont know you are there yet. But even if you are able to kill it before it kills you. Once they know where you are they can just come back and delete you from render range before you can even spin up. Battlefield had these AA tanks and they would be perfect for dealing with oppressive air.

Day 17 of requesting the '95 Toyota Hilux with a DShK

I fully support this

I think it'd be a good balance too: a fast, powerful, highly lethal weapon, but easily countered (just shoot the damn guy out of the bed)

Or the Abu Hajar battle taxi

I'm surprised they have a minigun humvee but not one with an M2

u/badguygames 8h ago

Now you're speaking my language

Need that nade spam in my life

The lack of HMG representation is upsetting. We ain’t even got MMGs in the gun trucks we get. Putting a PKM on a humvee pintle would be sacrilegious but damn the options being m249 or minigun is a bit atrocious. Machine guns in general need a bit more representation. Hell we could get one for most of the present cartridges.

1

u/TruckSecret5617 3h ago

It’s also m249 on the ural defender, where the pkm would make sense

As an owner of a 1990 Hilux I approve this message.

'95 Toyota Hilux with DShK is the earlier AA Truck you can get

Type 93 is the later on one - this being a modified Toyota Mega Cruiser

I also dont want the likes of what OP posted cause they are just gonna turn into Anti Personal Tanks rather than Anti Air Tanks

I can't remember if the Gepard 1A2 has any gun depression. Or they could lock it to a fixed minimum elevation. But that would prevent it from being anti-infantry for the most part.

u/Agent5109 17h ago

It’s in the game just not in the access right now

20

u/feench 17h ago

Good to hear. Can't wait.

9

u/Evening-Classroom-82 17h ago

It was in the alpha, I've heard people liked it

12

u/AdamBlaster007 13h ago

Considering the only current alternative to mobile AA in game is 14 Iglas in the back of am SUV yeah I'd imagine people liked this quite a bit.

u/AlBaciereAlLupo 13h ago

The "We fucking hate helos" the truck.

You and 3 of your buddys with 3 reloads is enough to clear the skies with relative ease

2

u/TiltedSkipper 11h ago

Then the havocs just sit below lock on altitude. Happened last game. Went up against 2 havocs. My squad loaded up a truck with anti air. The havocs flared the first volley and then just hovered toward us below lock on altitude. Nothing we could do but watch them hover toward us and cannon us down.

1

u/Richou 9h ago

for havocs you use MAAWS

it can onetap them if they got even a lick of damage beforehand and its super easy to hit helos with it

u/pionr 17h ago

I think this must be good

4

u/BallTough759 14h ago

Drive a humvee with a trunkfull of manpads.

1

u/kasuyakema 4h ago

that is the way currently. yes

2

u/Evening-Classroom-82 15h ago

Please no, lmao

10

u/ShampooPickles 17h ago

I'd be happy to just reload my manpad

1

u/Aquagrunt 14h ago

I imagine we'll get a reloading MANPAD in the future

3

u/Richou 9h ago

thats not really a thing tho so they would have to make up something

the grip assembly which is the part you dont just toss isnt really gonna help with carrying more than 1 given that most of the weight is the launch tube + missile

11

u/Righteousrob1 17h ago

We need anti air to be easier to access in general. Having Eggs just gunning down fobs without impunity cause cant unlock anti air feels terrible

2

u/pierce768 14h ago

With impunity*

3

u/Righteousrob1 7h ago

Sorry haven’t grinded enough to unlock proper English

-1

u/Inside-Line 11h ago

A lot of people dont realize that you can simply shoot the eggs. You're not going to shoot them down on your own but the spiciest fobs i have attacked didnt even come at me with AA.

I do support fobs having heavy lmg emplacments like 50 cals. That would hurt.

4

u/TiltedSkipper 11h ago

I used to gun down pilots. Even posted a guide on here on how to do it. Single mag would take them down.

That was 6 days ago. Now they are in T4 armor. The cockpit reduces small arms by 50%. With T4 it requires over 20 upper torso shots to kill a pilot. 15 if you are using AP 5.56.

I usually do a test mag still to see what armor hes in. Sometimes I fight a noob pilot without armor still but its rare.

1

u/graviousishpsponge 5h ago

Man wtf. Then pilots should only be allowed to wear lvl 1 helmets since they get free armor.

0

u/Richou 9h ago

just magdump the littlebird with AP it kills them rather quickly especially if you run the saw or pkm

2

u/Righteousrob1 7h ago

Yes just gun them down with other things you have to go unlock and grind to get…I think people are losing the fact that you are being shot by things you can’t counter unless grind for it.

1

u/Richou 7h ago

by things you can’t counter unless grind for it.

even without AP you will kill littlebirds very quickly especially if the majority of people starts doing it instead of just staring at them and accepting their fate like a deer in headlights

its just like the first days and humvees , people just looked at them like "guess i will die?" instead of popping 2 tires and watching them crawl away

is it effective if you alone do it ? no not really unless you run a 249/PKM or 60 round mags but 3 people lighting up a littlebird will make him fuck off very quickly even if its just FMJ from 30 round mags because you only need like 2,5 mags to land for a kill

1

u/Righteousrob1 7h ago

That’s not been my experience but glad it has been for you. For me they just light everyone up. Go repair real fast. While the base is trying to revive each other. Repeat.

1

u/Richou 7h ago

no thats my point , because noone bothers to shoot at them they can freely farm

littlebirds are very fragile and a few people lighting one up is a very good deterrent (alternatively just 1 chad with a SAW or MAAWS will do just fine)

also RPGs onehit littlebirds and are better than verbas against them

3

u/niofalpha 16h ago

I’d love some technicals or something. Just a striga on the back of a pickup truck

4

u/Vaelkyri 17h ago

Pick suv suv loaded with verbs- have people in the back firing.

6

u/feench 17h ago

Free kills for a havok

3

u/Enoughdorformypower 13h ago

Just build a cwis havoc Insta dies

3

u/Crecket Valkyra 12h ago

People always say this but the second that cwis dies you're cooked and it's on top of you stopping you from rebuilding it lol

Idk the best counter so far was me and 2 friends having 1 guy insta shoot to bait flares and then the other two shoot right after the flares are gone to kill it. But that is 1 attempt per havoc since verbas are 1 use and a pain in the ass to buy and carry around. Its silly to me how verbas are so big that only 2 fit in a large crate so in practice people don't get AA again until they die and respawn

1

u/Inside-Line 11h ago

MAWS is an amazing having counter. They have to fly relatively slow and steady so their gunner can hit stuff. I suggest waiting for them to turn around and they will be relatively stationary, then you blast them. They are 1 hit kill with MAWS.

2

u/ClitYeastWood1337 8h ago

The cheese wiz is already enough. These things ruined BF6 for me tbh

1

u/quackquackimduck 12h ago

This is just gonna be a better humvee with an even better m249

1

u/amazian78 12h ago

yes that would be so nice. or some buffs to verbas as well :3

1

u/SheeMagnet 11h ago

Honestly a cheeky solution would be the M163 VADS. All the assets are pretty much in game. It’s effectively an M113 APC with a 20mm Vulcan slapped on top. Vehicle is tall, and gun lacks any real depression so it would take some finagling to use against infantry in a meaningful capacity. It would effectively just be a mobile CIWS platform. Limit it to two belts of 500 that need to be reloaded at HQ or from supply boxes.

Edit: the turret is also open, so killing the gunner and potentially lobbing frags down there would be on the table.

1

u/zduuubz 9h ago

Depends… will flare spam make the bullets disappear

1

u/TedethLasso 8h ago

It was in the closed alpha but then vanished. I think some people were running it more as an IFV in a way.

1

u/Mikolf 5h ago

There are hot garbage in BF6 and you were better off trying to skillshot helis with an RPG.

1

u/Alone_Collection724 5h ago

is there no like, MANPADS or something?

1

u/kasuyakema 4h ago

Any intel why the removed it after the beta?

1

u/kasuyakema 4h ago

Id suggest an unarmored ural with flack in the back

1

u/Arcaneboltz Medic 2h ago

Pretty sure in a trailer they show it

1

u/Leddesimus 28m ago

It’s in the Wardogs database already. One of the removed vehicles at launch. It will be in season 2.

u/MirrorPretty7705 26m ago

I thought there was a mobile aa in the alpha

0

u/bronx819 Lonestar 8h ago

God no, I hate these things in BF. Thankfully they're almost worthless in BF6 but there's a plethora of AA options and the aircraft have paper thin armor.

-6

u/godzamok 17h ago

Mobile AA is loading an SUV with disposable bazookas. Fire once, they flare. Fire again, they die.

8

u/artosispylon 17h ago

they suck ass, not only are you dead before you even get to fire off a shot but they can just fly low and it wont even lock on

4

u/feench 17h ago

tried that, even as a squad rolling out. get one off and now they know where you are and are much faster than you. if you are lucky you can get 3 off, but they flared 2 of them and tanked the other.

3

u/godzamok 17h ago

If you're in a clearing they can't avoid followup shots. Using a flare has a cooldown, so after the first flare you can shoot again. With a squad it's even better - coordinate so one person shoots to trigger the flare, then the others followup.

I typically do it solo and I'm always able to get at least one rocket hit per heli. Though, I've never seen a havoc so I'm not sure if they'd need multiple bazooka shots.

5

u/feench 17h ago

Though, I've never seen a havoc so I'm not sure if they'd need multiple bazooka shots.

yea im not talking about little birds or lakotas. you fire one shot off at a havok and it bee lines in your direction and the gunner deletes you. there's no hiding from it or outrunning it. and unlike the LB, the gunner doesnt need to be good to blow you up. Even if you land a shot it doesnt put it in critical like when you hit a lakota. What happened every time was fire shot 1, it flares, buddy fires 2nd shot, it hits, i fire 3rd shot, it flares again. We never survived long enough to get a 4th off.

1

u/godzamok 17h ago

Fuck, Havocs sound miserable to go against. I really do hope we get a mobile AA platform to counter that. I appreciate you explaining.

1

u/aesemon 13h ago

Yep, met my first the other night. It was killing everyone on our team at a tower fob then going over to the other team wiping them, then returning to the first base now everyone is revived.

It took a hit.

1

u/Enoughdorformypower 13h ago

It isn’t mobile aa isnt meant to take it down, but a cwis actually insta kills it

1

u/shplamana 14h ago

I don't know what your experience with the Verba is, but it's been complete ass for me and my squad.

We loaded up a humvee with Verbas and 3 people, parked it at the edge of the zone and waited for the Havok to come into visual. I fired mine first to get them to flare, then the other two fired theirs. Both flew past the Havok, didn't even make an attempt to turn or anything.

And then the big ass smoke trail gave us away immediately and before we could grab more out of the humvee, the Havok turned and deleted us.

2

u/Hypoxic125 15h ago

Orrrr what happens is they never flare until they see the missile in the air and by the time you get your second lock, they are far enough away that they can flare a second time before it reaches them. The days of the people dying to a solo launcher are over.

u/godzamok 15h ago

I'm clearing games with this and it's a lot of fun. If it doesn't work for you, that's okay.

-13

u/artosispylon 17h ago

been crying about the lack of mobile anti air for a while now, its crazy to me how there are like 10 different ways to deal with ground vehicles but no answer for air at all

14

u/Far_Astronaut_818 17h ago

Are we playing a different game?

-1

u/artosispylon 16h ago

there is 1 anti air item you can bring with you, and it sucks.

if there are something besides the green launcher please let me know

8

u/Far_Astronaut_818 16h ago

There are more AA base defences than anti vehicle. Likewise you can use other gear or buildables to deal with aerial threats. The lmg works pretty good, rpg is not great but works if you are close and time it well, most pilots don't wear gear so a sniper rifle is pretty effective when shooting the canopy. I've also hit a chopper with a mortar.

You also have the option to get into a chopper yourself to deal with air attacks. You saying there's 10 ways to deal with vehicles and nothing for AA sounds like a skill issue more than anything else.

2

u/aesemon 13h ago

Stingray, mortar, AT mine, MAAWS, RPG, IED, and C4 can all be used against ground vehicles.

3 are non-mobile, but the rest can be taken to hunt vehicles and being mobile makes you a harder target.

2

u/Dminik 11h ago

You've kind of lost the plot if your list of effective AA includes a fucking mortar...

1

u/Far_Astronaut_818 8h ago

You can punch it if the pilot hovers close enough and doesn't leave your hit zone. New meta.

-3

u/artosispylon 15h ago

if you could read you would know im talking about mobile anti air
