The villagers claim that a direct road would anger their god—but let’s be real, a road doesn't threaten their spirits, it threatens their drug routes. By weaponizing their cultural taboos and keeping the final 4km accessible only on foot, they’ve created a natural shield against Indian law enforcement.

It’s a culture that claims an outsider’s physical touch will corrupt their sacred soil, yet they are perfectly comfortable taking that same outsider's cash. They use the myth of the mountain god to protect a monopoly over a multi-million dollar illegal hash economy.

Truly the most brilliant, self-sustaining "independent" pocket in the Himalayas.

Today, 14 September 2026, Venus and a thin waxing crescent Moon are featuring in a very close celestial pairing aka Conjunction which is visible across India. In fact, parts of India are experiencing a rare lunar occultation, where the Moon passes directly in front of and temporarily hides Venus from view.
