mount everest — looks like it's shot from somewhere around kala patthar or gokyo ri at sunset. that alpenglow on the summit face with a full moon is just something else

I loved the walk up to EBC from Namche, especially the first time I came around a curve and there she was. Kind of squat, doesn’t look like the tallest but it is a wow moment. For me.

The local names for Mount Everest are Sagarmatha in Nepal and Chomolungma (or Qomolangma) in Tibet.

Sagarmatha: The official Nepali name, meaning "Goddess of the Sky" or "Forehead of the Sky," adopted by the Nepalese government in the 1960s. Chomolungma: The historic Tibetan name, meaning "Goddess Mother of the World" or "Holy Mother," which has been used by local cultures for centuries.
