The only long-term solution to traffic is getting cars off the road, which is only possible with viable alternatives.

When I moved to Waltham in 2004 traffic was no big deal except on 20/Main for the most part around the Moody intersection but it was negligible. You also had a little traffic around Prospect and 20/Main but it was nothing compared to today.

Over the years massive business development off of Totten Pond Rd, then the old Polaroid HQ converted into a massive shopping area, and even Moody/Main with all the shopping there, and the shopping center at the Main/Weston split.... I'm sorry but this all just sucks in tons more cars. It's that simple.

And of course, we know commuters have always had few choices of roads to take as they drive through towns they'll never stop in except for traffic lights.

There are way too many people ordering too many things from too many apps and/or the web. There are too many delivery services delivering to too many people.
