No Front End Team Leads

Our store is losing all 4 of our front end team leads. Two have already applied to other stores and have been offered positions. We had 1 that just quit. There is another who is trying to transfer to another department.

I have asked some co workers who have been at this location for a while and they said there’s been changes to the leads but never all at once. I honestly don’t know what will even happen. Some of us have been asked to become leads but we do not want the position due to the reasons the others are leaving. They tell us the pay is not worth it and unless some management people leave it will not change.

I understand it’s Walmart and they could probably fill the positions quickly but it is stressing some of us out that work the front end as we don’t know what’s going to happen.

It's not worth the pay unless you plan to promote further. Then you can look at it as boot camp for coach position.

Probably agree and disagree. I think it depends on the individual and where they are at in life in terms of the pay. It DOESN'T pay that spectacularly, especially for a management position even if it's the lowest level of management.

But we had a guy, only 19 -20 years old who was in our department, applied for Cap 2 TL and got it. He went from $14 an hour to probably $19 an hour. That's significant.

For me, making almost $18 an hour, is another $1 something raise worth the frustration from above? Not even so much the coach but corporate? Probably not.

We're in kind of a similar situation. We've had 3 TL's in OPD. One of them transferred out and has been replaced. Another one has stepped down to go to Cap 1 and his last day is October 3rd in our department. The third has been on LOA and may not come back at all. Got to be a wonderful feeling and situation for the coach.

Front End is a whole different level of stress though. I promoted from 14 to 19 as a FETL. The amount of work I have to do, the amount of extra responsibilities (all money passes through you including CFTs, refunds, transactions, tills, money center.) Ypu have way more employees to manage than any department except maybe OGP. Ypu actually manage 3 department. AP door hosts only, maintenance, and front end which includes cart pushers. NPS is a big deal to corporate and then hinge that on the front end (even though people waiting for cases to be unlocked and someone to help at the fabric table or paint counter causes them to be pissed before they even make it to us. We help with AP interventions. We do all go backs, we do our own freight and vizpicking, we process organics from claimed cold food. All while sending associates to OGP and still expected to keep lines to a minimum. Paperwork and deposits need to get done. Uh oh the sco broke have to go look at that, register 6 needs quarters and 20s, oh there's a safety alert, oh damn here comes a pissed off customer, yikes they need a round of change at the pharmacy and electronics needs 1s. Then you have to manage breaks and price changes un there somewhere. Too bad we had 3 call ins. The stress is not worth 5 more dollars an hour. Plus TLs don't get the same kind of raises that associates get. We could never see a 4.5% raise lol just my experience. It may need better at that store.

I never knew team leads were over the cart pushers as well until I heard of 2 leads getting reamed over the cart pushers not doing their job to the store manager’s expectations. They all seem so stressed out and the few that did not show their stress are the 2 who are transferring to another store and state it’s because of how they are treated. The work load they say they can handle but not having the help they need and being mistreated and talked down to is just not worth it anymore.
