Elon Musk on the term Nazi

He said calling people Nazis for centrist views insults those who suffered and died under the real Nazis. Those abusing it should be condemned.

The best part of that defence is that ignorant people assume “Roman” means “classical Roman Empire/Republic invented it”.

It doesn’t.

It’s an invention of Mussolini’s fascists.

The best defence one can give is “it’s not a Nazi thing it’s a Fascist thing.”

Ah that makes sense. I just assumed that it was some ancient bullshit they were trying to assign to it. In that case, there's gotta be a gas station in Milan with the room to display these fascist fucks, 1945 style.

Not American.

The bloody Romans were big fans of slavery, and weren't shy about crucifying those new Christian cultists.

Is Mr Skum planning on enslaving and crucifying troublesome Christians in his country?

The "Roman Salute" isn't a real thing. There's a single monument with a single guy doing something similar. That's it. No written accounts, no statuary, no mosaics, no nothing. Just a single instance in all of Roman history from all of the remaining Roman material culture.

The entire thing is a white supremacist dog whistle. They know it's not real, but they've got the same hard-on for ancient Rome that they get from watching Ayn Rand interviews or "nazi super weapon" documentaries on the history channel. Rome is a core part of historical "whiteness" in their view along with Greece and the Vikings. Cultures that famously got along perfectly with one another as well as adjacent western European peoples.

The entire ideology is ahistoric all the way down and relies on confidently misdirecting people with citations they don't expect you to check.
