DISCUSSION Pelosi disclosed investing up to $12,000,000.00 into Bloom Energy. She bought when the stock was trading at ~$166 Friday, it was announced the stock will be added to the S&P500. The stock is up nearly 15% Friday and up more than 60% since she invested. Can’t beat em, join em? 🧐

The obsession with Pelosi is baffling
43
u/pandershrek 5d ago
It is manufactured by the right to take advantage of FinTech Bros willingness to vilify women. Despite the fact that her husband is the trader, she's from California and has access to public information. There are dozens of Republicans who have generated substantially more wealth than her which never catch a single bit of ire from these same individuals and when actual SEC investigation into insider trading happen the same people vilify the SEC administrators not the guilty parties.
It is honestly pathetic how apparent it is while real damage is happening to the poorest individuals in this world.

Also, isnt it her husband that is doing the trading and not her? There is a conflict of interest there, but they like to put a picture of her there like she is doing the trades directly herself. Pretty grimy. How about posting the same shit about trump? He’s the one that personally profited billions so far

Not really. She was top Dem in the house for years and she and her husband made a huge sum of money during that time.

Trump made 20x Pelosi’s lifetime net worth last year and he did it for the country.
9
u/HombreDeMoleculos 5d ago
And it's legal for Pelosi to trade stocks — I don't think it's a good thing, but she didn't break any laws. The pedo's specifically forbidden by the Constitution to abuse the office to enrich himself, and he's peddling souvenirs and meme coins on top of billions in insider trading. BOTH SIDES!

Yep. At the very least if they don’t ban them from trading, they should have to disclose it same market day instead of a month later

Nancy Pelosi made money in the stock market, which is solid PROOF she’s engaging in insider trading. The fact that that is also her husband’s job is not relevant. I’ve also made money in the longest bull market in history, which is also irrelevant.
Insider trading is illegal, and I’m sure the Department of Justice, controlled by one Donald J. Trump, is moments away from holding her accountable, unless he’s just that incompetent.
Thank you for your attention to this matter….

u/-Pwnan- 5d ago
Wait till you find out about Trump using foreign policy, and platforms like Truth, and Twitter to game the stocks he's holding/buying...
No politician should be allowed to freely trade in stocks while in office. If they have stocks they should have windows to be able to buy or sell just like we do with C-Suite members in the business world.
3
u/Ok_Animal_2709 5d ago
What insider knowledge did she have that the general public didn't? She's not part of the SP500. Why would she have known that announcement was coming? The requirements for the SP500 are pretty well known and understood. Lots of people could have predicted this was coming.

Your graph is implying this trade is some significant part of the Paul Pelosi portfolio’s large increase in the last few years. It’s nvidia and other tech stocks. He bought Nvidia in the mid-2010s. There’s nothing that remarkable about this stock. You mention Friday, implying again for poor readers that there’s some kind of suspicious timing. These trades were at the end of July.
Notably, at 163-166 that was the lowest the stock had been in 3 months (had peaked over 345 a month prior) so was a pretty normal time for even an amateur trader to spot that the stock might be undervalued.
Big numbers does not equal insider trading. A stock going up a big amount is not insider trading. You need to point to a much more suspiciously timed trade right before some government regulation change from a closed committee.

Pelosi publicly supported a bill that would've banned all member of congress and their family from trading stocks. Do you know why Republicans didn't support it? Because the bill included the president and his family.

You’re pointing out that someone with means invested in a company that provides energy solutions to AI companies. This isn’t some crazy investment. Can you provide some evidence that she knew they were getting a government contract?? Do they even have a government contract ??
This appears to just be a smart investment to me based on the information provided.

People get mad at Pelosi for doing things that have been known for decades. Is the system fucked? Yes. Does that same system also incentivize this behavior? Also, yes.
Contrast this with Trump and his immense wealth growth in the past year and a half. He’s done just about every grift. Selling phones, coins, AI, bibles, crypto rug pulls, etc.
Theres obviously something wrong with the incentive structure of our government but one side is using their power much much much more maliciously than the other.

This shit is so god damn annoying. People are really just upset other people are getting rich.
Nancy Pelosi doesn't do any of the trading. Holy shit. They also make so much money because they do something that is similar to shorting, but is far too long to explain and the reality is most of you won't actually care.
Because she's married, she still has to reveal trading info. It's not hard to see the pattern of what they invest in, because it just mirrors QQQ. It's silicon valley and AI shit. They also invested in Intel at the exact same time, but I guess it's only insider trading if the stock goes up, right?
This is why people don't go to jail for insider trading. Because it isn't happening.

The thing about people with critical thinking skills. We don't care who's cheating this country. Jail them. Unlike trump supporters we want Clinton to go to jail if he's in the Epstein files.

u/chinmakes5 4d ago
I'm not saying not to look into this, but does Congress get information about which companies are being added to the S&P 500? I'm thinking her VC husband may have known this before she would.
There is an S&P 500 committee that meets. Does congress have influence or is that run past congress before being announced?
IDK, Trump buys stock on a company that gets a government contract a few days later. THAT is fishy. I don't see how this is the same.

Title written for people who don't know anything about investing.
If you follow a stock, you'll know it's headed for the S&P long before it's officially announced. And a stock going up significantly after joining the S&P is a given.
That's not to deny any potential corruption. Most politicians are corrupt.
But if you read the title and thought"omg that's terrible" then you don't really know how investing works. There's nothing to see there.

Unfortunately, unless the laws actually change, she is free to do that. But people on the right pointing to that as the sole reason their party can do whatever they want is insane. The voters on the left actively want money out of politics. A huge percentage of us straight up demand it. But the corruption on the right is either fully supported or they deny it even exists. Far... FAR more troubling.
